Just spent 1,5 hour watching 2 film about a sport I know nothing about, a sport I dont even care about... on the edge of my seat. Well done to you! Bravo
The amount of footage sought out from every possible place, gathered together and then watched through to tell this story is a story that deserves to be told on it's own. I cannot imagine the workload it took to gather all these clips to tell these stories from every possible angle with so the visuals back up your words with such accuracy.
This is honestly what made me look through both videos the most. The story telling is amazing. The footage from all angles really sells it though. This feels like a perfectly orchastrated movie, not a RU-vid Video. Insane quality.
Agreed, fantastic job. Wish more comments were about the content creation and not arguing about the story. The quality of thought that goes in to some of the comments I’m reading is shocking! Congrats to all for achieving the level of effort your comment required!
Absolutely disgusting how good this man tells a story. I havn't been into Motocross in 10 years and this is some of the best media ive ever seen. I wish there was a moto gp creator that could get anywhere near this epic quality
Last I was to a race was in ‘03 I don’t know any of these guys until watching this video. Excellent job in putting this video together this is masterful in how the story flowed it earned my sub!!!
Hahahahaha Yes, I LOLed on that one! He surprisingly has been much different this year in SX! He's growing on me! -It's probably because he married a Brit that he's much cooler now! lmbo
As someone who's always been a 4 wheel motorsport guy I can't begin to explain how much this series of videos has altered my impression of MX and 2 wheel motorsports in general. You're putting together absolute masterpieces Ash. I hope for your continued success.
Totally different feeling going fast on a dirt bike. You're completely exposed and vulnerable at speed, these racers are nuts. Most don't realize they're racing at 50-60MPH on these tracks. That speed is nothing to sneeze at on a dirt bike. I have a 250, not even a 450, it's a rocketship haha.
This is a masterpiece. You sir, are so respected. Putting this much time, effort, and grit in making a badass motocross youtube video is just too rad. Media needs more guys like yourself!
This isn't a RU-vid video. It's a master class in story telling. I don't even watch or follow Motorcross. Yet I was captivated the whole time. Thank you so much for being awesome.
This is beyond the level of a Motocross documentary, but a telling of events long forgotten. Whether they be simply lost to memory or suppressed in utter copium. This story of two legends in the making meeting, forging a rivalry, and settling the score as the gladiators of old would, is only one in a sea of many. While being masterfully told to the letter by you Ash, these are stories worth being retold to new ears. I would pay to see a series dedicated to the goliaths of motorsport meeting and laying it on the line for all to see on the national, and world stages. Many stories in this great sport have been lost to the sands of time, only being told by wise men who long to remind anyone who will listen to the tales of old legends. Where Gods among men accomplish feats only the few thought possible. When fate watched in anticipation and time stood still for all to see their glory. You have the stage and here's the mic Mr. Sowman, though only you choose when these stories see the light again. Cheers and I'll be waiting for your next video.
@@ashsowman hey Ash I’ve been watching your videos for a little while now, probably since the dirt bike paradise videos, I just wanted to let you know that you’re doing great things on this channel and I hope you keep on finding success with these new video formats. I’ll be waiting for the next one :)
Great vid man! I'm Dutch and somehow didn't know anything about this storyline before your first video on it. So always cool to learn more about our motor racing history.
I don't watch Motocross. But this guy produces documentaries worth watching. I'm from Denmark so I was cheering for Herlings all the way through both of the videos.
I don't ride motocross but love race-craft of any kind. I was skeptical about watching this in its entirety because it'd need to be very engaging. This was absolutely incredible to watch. Commentary from yourself was top notch and just enough and the collation of clips and footage was perfect. I can't wait for more of these and the other Jeffery Herlings video was perfection too!
Man. I’ve only just gotten into dirt biking at 40. And now I search for the history of the sport. To find a kiwi spinning a yarn so good and drawing me into this amazing sport is soo cool. The effort it take to make this is not lost on people man. Just amazing job dude. If you ever make it to Auckland come ride at the sandpit in Muriwai.
I'm 63 now! I used to race a YZ490 back in the day. I remember how awesome it felt at full revs, sideways, front wheel in the air and one foot on the peg. Nothing better. I still ride a WR450F. I ride a lot slower than I used to, but it's still a lot of fun. Thanks for posting this, and for all your hard work putting it together. Brings back some amazing memories.
Such a cool pair of videos! I normally have simply no interest in motor sports, but your storytelling and production kept me checking back every now and then for this video. Thank you, and keep going, I think you'll go far.
The way you have put together these 2 documentaries are beyond belief. I *didn't* have any interest in motocross before watching these. You have changed that. Your delivery and presentation is excellent, definitely got a new sub.
Absolute masterclass in storytelling. I don't even care about this sport and I sat there grinding my teeth in suspense. The chances are slim you see this 9 months after the video dropped, but you have incredible talent. Thank you.
Herlings now has the World Record for the Most Single Moto Wins and the Most GP Victories in MXGP. I would say Jeffrey is the fastest of all Time, without His injuries he would be even faster.
@@corinful just because your head is confused with nostalgia that doesn't mean they were the fastest of all time stop being a little fanboy RC and JS7 cant compete with someone like Herlings or Tomac
It pains me to see such a deserving video not receiving it's well earned views... Maybe it's a little early to say that but having watched the other one twice I cannot fathom how this isn't in the 50k+ views range (at least) after an hour. I hope the algorithm picks up on it man. You deserve it
I don't even know how your previous video about this battle appeared in my feed, but I've just watched two of your videos in a row! You are an incredible documentary maker and story teller. This is such high quality and you present it in a way that is so gripping. I've had to subscribe because you keep saying "..but that's a story for another day", and I just don't want to miss the next installment! Thank you for the effort you put into your videos, they really are great entertainment.
Man, this and your other documentary are just awesome. The amount of hard work and passion put in research, script and editing are just outstanding. As a motocross fan, I can only say "thank you".
You have a real tallent for telling these stories... Excellent work, id happily listen to any documentary you make if you can keep the quality this good
This was well worth the wait, thank you Ash! I've never watched motocross but I find the sport exciting, so your channel has really fed my appetite lately. You should be proud of your other videos as well even if they won't gather as much attention! Take your time with the third part, I know these are a huge load of work, there's no rush.
Amazing documentary that was well worth the wait! Congratz on having Herlings recognize the efforts you put into your first video. Can't wait for the next one :D
Ive watched both of these videos at least 5 times. Im just as hooked every time. I always loved dirt bikes as a kid but never had an outlet or a TV to watch it on. The first video got me back into motocross after something like 15 years. As an adult with a job, my savings account is now being built towards getting my first bike.
Killer video Herlings is 100% the fastest on the planet in my eyes. I don't care what country you're from, there's no denying pure speed Edit: Post 2023 outdoor season Jett Lawrence is now the fastest on the planet. Tomac is 3rd
fastest in MX maybe until he doesn't crash, anyway the MX guys racing and preparing on outdoor tracks in the whole season, but see how struggling the EU guys in a real Supercross track in the US,so its not really about USA vs. Europe
@@s-sFMXMTBTRIBUTE but the fact that with all the disadvantage of the American Circuit having a majority of their program being SX, its still seen as USA vs. the world. a testament to the American talent IMO
Absolutely awesome. I dont even follow this sport but i was completely entertained by this and the 1st part .you have such a talent for narrating and the respect you carry for all who participate really comes across you are an excellent story teller. I hope and cant wait for the 3rd part of this epic trilogy. Its got me in to waching motor x and Jeffrey herlings in particular 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great content ! Usually I'm more a fan of Formula, GT or Rally racing , and don't watch much 2 wheel races, but these 2 videos really made me appreciate Motocross GP. Great footage, great storytelling and all, thanks for this man !
You know Herlings is living rent free in all they're heads! Also love the way you've edited these video's, I like MX but not a giant fan, but this makes me feel like i've been following it for years!
The haters will always find an argument to defend their rider, the weather was not good, it was sand, he was playing for the title etc... The truth is guys, Herlings is just an extra terrestrial and you can take whoever you want and do 10 different races the result will be the same, Herlings is just the strongest MXGP rider, he could have been American but life made him European that's how it is. #TheBullet
@@daantuin3351 tf you mean. This dude just pulled some generic ass clips anyone can find and put them in the video to tell his story. They did nothing more then suspension tuning and maybe ecu. Tomac is the better rider and not one person can change my mind
This is GOAT sport docu level. I'm no moto GP fan, even though it's a sport close to the family, but I can't get enough of these videos. It burns in my heart that you haven't released more of them, anticipation is killing me for the finale. Keep it up! Cheers from Sweden.
Wow man great job. You’re awesome. This was just as incredible if not even better than the first video. It shows the time and hard work you put into these and thank you for that! Really hoping/ looking forward to watching you deliver the next chapter to us 🤘
unfortunate this was the only time we will ever see them go head to head again. unfortunate herlings couldn't race mxon this year and even more unfortunate eli suffered a career ending injury when he was having his best run ever. what a great video i wish it was possible to have a round 2.
Must admite. I've seen motocross back in my early 13s and simply went of the grid with age. The car racing scene got me and still has but watching your series I got a honest and deep feeling that this is so raw in human power and achievement that is pushing me hard enough to go see live and work my photography skills on this. Titans of motorsport no doubt about it. Crazy. I've know one of the world mx photographers and I keep tell him how much this series have impacted me to go from automotive to moto. Thanks and waiting for more.
16:30-16:40, has to be about the SICKEST single rider edit of all time. You did a PHENOMENAL job with the editing on this. I know nothing of what's been going on in motocross for near the last 20 years, but man have you pulled me in to wanna watch more if it's this styling. Awesome story telling of previous years, and extremely enthusing to watch!
You do an amazing job on these videos, I could watch 5 hours straight of your productions. All the material, the editing, the music, the commentary, it's excellent and often back of the neck hair raising. You should have 500K subs by now, you make some of the best videos about MX racing that's out there...
We need more. The way you laid out the story and added more suspense and pressure through each moto with music and the awesome in air photos made this video one of the most entertaining RU-vid watches I've had for a long time. Very well done.
Thank you so much for this video I've been waiting patiently for it for the last 4-5 months! I have never even seen a dirt bike race before but with this level of storytelling I was immediately invested. Truly remarkable quality, just incredible. Well deserved congratulations mate!
I've been waiting for this to come out ever since i saw the i first Herlings vs Tomac video and you've got me waiting on the next one with just as much and if not more anticipation. Truly out of this world content you're pushing.
The battles are what makes moto great. It’s awesome that great riders can come from anywhere. I always want the USA to win, but sometimes it’s good to take a beating or two to remind people why it matters, and to remember to appreciate the wins. Much love for all the racers.
I used to watch The Great Outdoors and Inside the Outdoors all the time. I haven't found anything like them since they finished...until I found your last two documentaries. Absolutely incredible. Thank you so much. The amount of time and effort it must take you hasn't gone unnoticed. 10/10.
All of us that race, you know when you just feel you just were ripping & flying so fast..Imagine some dudes come along & just lap you 3 times in a moto!!😂😂😂..Excellent video!!
Absolutely outstanding coverage of a sport I never watch. I watched the first video and couldn’t wait to watch the second. Well done you have a fantastic future in storytelling.
Can’t imagine the amount of time these take, soooo good! You are killing it, makes moto feel more like Formula 1 almost finally getting someone cover these stories
Dude, all my life ive been a four wheel fan...nnever got ignited by 2 wheels.....you have changed that forever! Absolutely AWARD winning documentary...your knack for moving suspense and reveal is excellent...bravo
Your storytelling is top notch!! Ooooff glad i haven´t missed this. The intro, the buildup, the epic music that went silent when it was "time for business" , just to fade back in when battle was over. Great content, cant wait for the next part .
I've never watched or followed this sport, albeit growing up in a Dutch south-American country where these bikes are popular due to the muddy/sand/dirt environment. This video gave me a newfound love and respect for the sport. I've watched both from beginning to end and want more! Good work!
Thank you for making this, it's brilliant. As a father of two daughters whom race, this video along with the first video was amazing to show my girls. I appreciate your time and knowledge, I look forward to more of your films.
Masterpiece, thank you for making me a fan! Love the riders! As a European fan from the Netherlands I can say that both Eli Tomac and Jeffrey Herlings are people I admire!
Getting insane amounts of childhood nostalgia hits with these masterfully crafted vids of yours. Can't begin to fathom how much work and love you put into them. You deserve so much more recognition and I truly hope, that it will come
Always been a huge Tomac fan. He is the only American even close to the GP guys in motocross. This one was fun to watch. Great video. *Edit a year later* The bit on Alessi and Brcia is fucking hilarious. Mad props. You funny, dude.
Dude this quality of storytelling in this and the previous video is truly something amazing. I was waiting for the sequel to this story so much! I've never been interested in this sport, but goddamn I was biting my nails the entire time of both videos. Please keep doing your thing and keep telling these amazing stories, I will watch all of them for sure!
Both this and part 1 are so quality & so well crafted together, full respect Ash. I’m sure they will still be being watched by generations to come as classics.
Loving your work Ash. Awesome to get a shout out from The Bullet himself too. Kudos to you. I look forward to the final in the trilogy. Even as much, I look forward to a helmet cam on our man Brad at the next GNCC or 4 hour. Still my all time favourites.
Great video. It is nice to see how the European mx rides have overtaken the American's when it comes to being the fastest. I think it really comes down to the business model of motocross since JS retired(and really slowed down after RC retired). I think American motocross suffers from not being able to develop the fastest rides anymore. When I was growing up and racing in Florida until 2011 (to which I joined the navy) I remember Dade city, gainesville Gatorback, and other tracks being neutered. Lawyers are making tracks "safer" but also killing the sport. I rarely watch motocross or supercross anymore because it feels slow and limited. Nobody seems to push the limits in America and it makes me sad. Glad to see Europe didn't suffer the same fate. I do think Herlings is an incredible rider who seems to push the limit. Wish we would see something like that happen in America again.
Watched the first Herlings vid earlier now this one... that's an hour and a half of my life I wouldn't ask to have back for quids. Mate these two videos have been exceptional. Well edited, well told, and captivating the whole way through... It is a testiment to your work that someone like me, who knows zip about MX, will watch and stay glued to the action start to finish in one sitting. 10/10 mate.
Bro, I’m not even a motorcross fan, but I’m loving the way you put this together. I just became a fan. I respect all the riders. Much respect to Eli. He seems like a good dude.
Ricky Carmichael, Antonio Cairoli, Jeremy McGrath, Stefan Everts, Joel Smets, Jeffrey Herlings, Eli Tomac, Bubba Stewart, Ryan Dungey, Ryan Villopoto, Tim Gajser, Roger De Coster, Chad Reed... All of them have a place in the History of Motocross and Supercross.
This may be the pound for pound best RU-vid video I've seen man. I've never watched an MX event although I'm a motorsports fan. But these two films have had me glued.
That inital humiliation cannot be undone. That is especially true, if your whole nation feels untouchable, just for all of the fans to get put in their place... It's a constant in life, that reality-checks like these are sometimes necessary to help bounce back from halfassed delusions. So keep on pushing and growing! 🤘
What makes you think any one entire nation feels untouchable? Sounds like you've come up with your own idea of how people feel and I'd like to know what evidence you've based your brilliant hypothesis on?
@@JordanEmede_376 Did you take the time to watch this documentary? If so, I'd recommend you to rewatch it and try figuring out if the "general consensus" about the outcome of this competition was actually overconfident ( before the races went down). I wonder why you are even getting triggered by that comment in the first place, to be honest.. And to give you another recent example, which is unrelated to motocross, while still kinda helping to prove my point, I'd recommend you to look up the whole "world champion" debate revolving around "Noah Lyles". (Look up the definition of a world championship and as a little extra, check out the last 5 nba mvps.)
@@phiilo great way to avoid my question, chief. I did watch it, I don't think it was bad, I'm interested to hear from you what delusions you're referring to and why you hallucinated that you have any sort of standing to speak for literally an entire country of fans of the sport. I'm just asking for your opinions because I'm interested to know how you got there. If I'm honest, it sounds like half-assed delusions 🤣 triggered would mean you'd upset me or had any effect whatsoever really, I'm just calling you out I want to know why you think wha you think.
@@JordanEmede_376 I didn't avoid your question. I even provided you with an example outside of the sport of motocross, which proves my point. If you are hung up on the phrasing of "entire nation", feel free to imagine " sports" into that. Or think of "general consensus" instead, in case you get offended by me generalizing. It doesn't even matter you you wanna call it, to be honest
@@phiilo what are you even referring to man I asked WHY you think everyone in the US thought were "untouchable"...who thought that? Can you provide any evidence or is it just pulled from thin air 😂 your sports analogy doesn't make sense either man what d NBA players have to do with why you said we thought we were untouchable? That was my question so any answer provided should have an example or instance of "everyone" thinking were untouchable.
Great Video! Also have to remember that Tomac spends most of his time on supercross where as Herlings rides moto all year. Don't get me wrong Herlings is wicked fast, but would be cool if they both rode moto like Herlings did his whole life or if Herlings did supercross. Sadly we will never see that happen
Yeah, Americans don't really care about mxon, just like we don't really care about the Olympics... sx always takes precedence and it's a completely different animal compared to mx. Euro guys that come over here generally do pretty well, but they don't really dominate without dedicating their lives to it and even then, they still don't usually measure up to the greats that came before them. Tomac gets very little for winning an mxgp race, while risking his career. People get lost in the hype and forget simple cost/benefit analysis. I love all things dirt bikes, so I wish we'd get more in to mx like we used to and run an mxgp team, but the logistics for that make it really difficult. It's just not really feasible, forget about profitable.
I've watched both of your videos based on these events. Great storytelling and editing! The only motocross content i've consumed was a mtx game on PS2 when i was a kid and even tho i' ve never watched any motocross races in my life, i really enjoyed your documentaries. Can't wait for the next one, keep it up!
im not even the tiniest bit interested in motocross. clicked on the first vid out of curiosity while looking for something to listen to while playing games. ended up pausing my game to watch the whole thing and my heart was racing the entire time. ran to the link to this vid immediatly after the first ended and you delivered this one perfectly as well. amazing job
Yet another great video! You're only as good as your normal competitors. It is what pushes you, breaking boundaries or athletes. It is the only way to progress and evolve. Good work on both the US and the EU teams. Remember this, we are all motorsports idiots and in this age we need to stand united as we are en endangered species.
The things i loved about this video : - Great story telling - Well presented - and pretty accurate The thing is , even if he kinda " Saved " ; 4 motos , 4 races : 1 for Tomac and 3 for Herlings --> At the end , Herlings Wons the " Duel " but Tomac got at the same time reality check by an other one , as fast as Herlings... So Delusion won't help America , it never will ^^
yall just cant go a day without mentioning the great america can you? no matter what yall always gotta bring america up, we live in your heads rent freeeeee. bozo
@@hambster9759 funny, i have it pretty good, yall bitches would love to be us , with how much you have us in your mouths. Yall cant go a day without having us in your head, thats bitter
You have revived a lost story and brought it to people who would never have looked into or known of its existence that is genuinely an impressive accomplishment .
I have no interest in motorcross or any sports in general but somehow I've just watched both of your documentaries in a single day. Well worth watching just for how well you tell the story. Kept me gripped. You deserve to go mainstream mate!
You have a gift mate. The way you have told these stories is top notch. Just watched the 2 herlings, tomac videos. Im a jett fan and never really seen herlings ride or knew his story. That was epic! Thanks for the history lesson, herlings is awesome!
a story about christophe Pourcel would be awesome. This guy was a world champ got a crash that left him almost paralysed, went back to win again and entered supercross shocking everybody. his riding style was so different too, even bagget said he looked a lot of video of him to learn how to pick lines !
Americans hide in Supercross, afraid of Motocross as they will never be a World Champion again, Herlings has passed the previous GP Champion Messr Everts and is now in 2023 the GOAT of Motocross bar all of those american ego's...
Why can't each fan base just respect the other series? Supercross is the premier series for the AMA over Moto. Any racer in the U.S. would prefer a Supercross title. Herlings is better imo outdoors but you can't say he would dominate Supercross.
