Jay Bell scored the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth of Game 7 of the World Series, and still ranked this moment ahead of that.

A million dollars isnt enough to retire on really. It was at one time, but not anymore. Runaway inflation makes a low six figure salary hard to live off of without careful money management. he just started swinging more! he had a lot of lineup protection and pitchers found themselves needing to throw strikes to the dude because they didn't want to face Matt Williams, Luis Gonzalez, or Steve Finley, all of whom were known quantities of being a good hitter and appeared after him in the batting order for the most part. He hit 24 of his 38 home runs before the All-Star game, with the shot in this video being the final one before the break. He didn't really decline so much in the second half so much as he did adjust to what was given to him. He had the exact same OPS in the first half as he did in the second half, but hit 10 more homers before the ASG. The more you know!
