I work at a caustic chlorine plant in Louisiana, we use a lot of plug valves in the caustic unit. We use a lot of plug valves as control valves also. Mainly tuf-line and durco brands. They work pretty well as control valves in certain applications

I don't know where you got your info, but plug valves can be and are regularly used in throttling actions.

So, the only major difference that I can see between the Plug Valve and the Ball Valve is that the Plug Valve is suitable for multi-directional flow. Is that right ?

is this basically a globe valve?

if its leaking, Lubcicate and adjust the valve

but why a ball valve isnt also suitable for multi applications like a plug valve?

Can't understand the reason of low pressure drop
