This has been the most real review of this product. Every other review out there is a bunch of wanna be hippies only talking about this product. Thanks for actually showing what it will/won’t power.
Exactly what i was looking for. Wasn’t to interested in the other ones. This told me exactly what i can’t or can use it for. Thanks!! Looks like I’ll be buying a bigger one or just keep my generator 😂
That’s literally damn hardest part of figuring out of all these things. No even kidding, like effing the practical application. Learning about all the watt hours and stuff is great but that doesn’t mean THAT much to me because I don’t know enough about it. What actually is useful is what can to power and for how long?
Thank you for making this video. I am obsessed with lava lamps and it is comforting to know that the Jackery 300 will allow me to continue enjoying my lava lamp in the even of an emergency.
Thank you so much for this review. I've had just about enough of people who were sent this or that product for their honest reviews, and all they do is give you link and read the print out of what it can do, rather than show you. I'm new to the world of power stations and trying to find one to power a few things during an emergency, but this is literally only the second, of like 15 reviews of seen where someone plugged some real world stuff in!
Great stuff!!! I did some research on my 300 watt power station and came to the conclusion it can’t power much but works for all my battery and laptop needs lol I did play some games with the tv though haha
@@JDubbsadventure It powered the lights, not the fridge. Most household refrigerators need 700W with peak staring watts 1000W. I have a Jackery 300, it cannot even run my microwave or instatpot.
How can you say it dont run much? Lol.....the man just showed u many things. Lights, TV's, blower motor for his wood stove, phones, tablets, computers, internet modems, other reviews showed it can do heat blankets which on a road trip could b lifesaver if your car died. Your not buying the 300 to power massive or power hungry devices and utilities. I'm using mine to trickle charge my motorcycle at a storage unit with no power. It's great device
it actually did NOT run your big fridge, it just doesn't have the wattage to handle a load from the larger compressor. You may hear the compressor making noise but its not running it. An average home refrigerator uses about 200 to 400 watts to run but requires 800 to 1200 for surge or starting watts. Just check inside your fridge or on the back by the model for exact usage and start watts you need. Therefore the little Jackery (GREAT PRODUCT) is not enough to run the large appliances. But be very careful running any form of generator that does not supply the full amount of start up load for your appliance or you risk the possibility of damaging your compressor in the long run and causing pre-mature failure. A larger generator would work but remember you will draw down quickly your battery source. A 300 watt generator is perfect for running small lights or charging phones, laptops or evening running a printer but can not handle larger appliances with cooling or heating elements. Thanks for the videos! Hope this helps.
good advice, makes me think I'll need a jackery 500 for my small sound equipment (for singing) to be on the safe side even though some think I shd get the cheapest one possible (like the 2 or 300)...
What I don't think you mentioned is that this particular fridge seems to cool only the freezer, and then transfer that cooled space into the fridge side. The noise heard in the video was clearly the fan that blows air from the freezer into the refrigerator. There was no compressor running during that fridge test...... It is rare to have a refrigerator with two compressors; one for the freezer and one for the fridge. That was just the fan taking air from the freezer and cooling the fridge.
If I'm not mistaken, it ran your big fridge cause it didn't actually run it haha...meaning it powered the lights and low electricity led buttons water pump etc, but there's no way in hell it's running any compressor lol.. no like others have said, it's really only good for charging small devices. Unfortunately if you want a battery that's practical for appliances, you need a 1500w-2500 and they run 1000 up to 4000.. it sucks cause that's what I need something to power electric cookware on the road, but I can't justify spending 1,200 on a damn battery... Just ranting. Enjoyed the video!
Well, I think the man said that the compressor kicked in, am I wrong. I agree- that is miracle country. My 2kw generator doesn't like my fridge and has been known to leave the room when the compressor surge arrives. Isn't science wonderful?! Oh, BTW, thank you to the 'Man' for all that work there.
@@ekilmartin2000 In the video, you can clearly hear that it's just the fan blowing air from the freezer to the fridge side. The compressor is not running. There is definitely noise, but most refrigerators do not have two compressors. He opened the fridge side when he should have opened the freezer side. Refrigerators without two compressors cool the freezer with the compressor, and then transfer cool air to the fridge side from the freezer.
Also, the big fridge cycles the compressor on and off to maintain constant temperature. So it only uses energy from the Jackery when compressor kicks in for a few minutes at a time.
I think that with these power stations, a lot depends on how much the appliance uses when it's winding up. Many have high power requirements for the first minutes or so. Another thing... the manufacturers recommend that for longest service, do not use more than 60% of the juice before recharging. 👍
That was helpful for me as we are expecting power cuts this year and I wanted to know if it would run a kettle, microwave, light and maybe the TV but it looks like it won’t. Just good for charging your phone iPad and things like that so not much good at things around the house.. appreciate your video very much! Cheers 🍻
It will run a tv and light but the kettle and microwave are a no go. I’d look into the jackery 1000-1500. There’s a lot of good brands out there check around
Love mine. It's come in handy so much. Went on vacation where wife still had 2 work the weekend and she forgot her laptop charger boom jackery PD input saved her powered her laptop all weekend...another over nighter she forgot her cpap cord boom jackery 300 kept her going about 6 or 7 hours of sleep with cpap. When I do work on the land it charges my dewalt batteries and trimmer batteries. It's great!!!
I was a bit surprised about the fridge, tbh. I have a 240 that I'll take on my back patio, hook it up to my Thunderbolt solar panel, and run my iPhone and work laptop with it all day when the weather is nice. I took a look at the 2000. I hope you get one and put it through its paces. I can't rationalize having one, but I really want it :D
I tried the microwave an it was bad so I didn’t even add it to the video. It would be great if you could power bigger appliances with such a small power pack
@@JDubbsadventure just need more batteries, I was trucker n had inverter quasi installed, 300wats will run most home appliances, so 300 good for camping to run a laptop that's about all, but run a house your going to want around 2000 to 5000 watts to keep house running
Look at it this way, now you’ve got all that space in your vehicle from things you don’t have to bring camping because your portable power station won’t power them. lol 😂
The 300w is a great little power backup for plugging a light in and/or keeping your devices charged during a power outage but unfortunately it isn’t any good for appliances. I have the 300w but I probably should have bought the 500w. Regardless Jackery makes a great product…but if you want something that can run appliances you got to get at least the 1000w or 1500w version. Thanks for the video…take care.
@@JDubbsadventure And at 77 watts per hour of solar power how long will it take to recharge a 1000 watt Jackery? My guess around 26 hours. Are your days that long?
@@mojito-alongtimeago Great idea for those who can afford such toys. So, for an every infrequent power failure, we need essentially to back up the back up power source. Wow. I might suggest candles but I know how many commentors would burn their homes down that way.
My small jackety is usually used to power video production equipment and dose it quite well. I often use it on my day job to run work LED work lights and small power tools. I even was crazy enough to try to powe a small digital sound mixer and two powered speakers each with 1000 watt class D amplifiers... Well it did it and we were able to reach a reasonable volume level for about 1 1/2 hours. Then it needed a charge. I usually recharge it over night in the work van and am ready for the next day. Long story short the small jackery is good for small or high efficiency equipment that don't need high amounts starting surge power but it simply will not handle large power draw appliances .
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. with the Instapot, which I have, I bet has a shut off due to power source. I think it might work. either way, great job.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Iv reached out to jackery asking them to send me a bigger unit for testing and haven’t heard anything. That said Iv had a few other companies ask me to test there’s so keep an eye out
really great video - exactly what I needed to know. I just ordered one of these with solar panels for blackout situation for sensitive electronics. Have a 5KW Honda Generator for refrigerators and portable heaters. This really was a great video. thanks
Wow, this Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series sounds like an amazing backup power solution for outdoor camping and family time! It has a massive capacity, fast recharge time, and even waterproof technology. Plus, the smart app control feature is convenient. Thanks for sharing the recommendation!
Wow, I totally agree with you! The Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series seems like an incredible backup power solution for outdoor camping and family time. Its massive capacity, fast recharge time, and waterproof technology make it a reliable option. Plus, the smart app control feature adds convenience. Thanks for sharing your recommendation!
It didn't take much to run the fridge because it was already cold so the compress doesn't have to work as hard. Those newer fries only use as much juice as needed.
@@JDubbsadventure yea I see it's on Amazon for $270 right now with a free light.. I'm thinking about it but I think I may need something with more watts.. I think I may go all out instead of buying twice
I would suggest that you watch the video again. I believe you missed something, there isn’t a hot plate in the video and it wouldn’t run a coffee maker. Thanks for watching anyway
Thank you for the info, I do have a few Colman gas stoves and love them. I camp a lot but someone asked me if the jackery would power a coffee makes so I tested it
These portable batteries cannot power resistive heating elements easily. Even if its in their power range their sensors trigger. Some things will run easily because of their efficiency and careful powerhandling like your big fridge. Such things do not trigger the sensor but yes any sort of resistance that this battery finds unacceptable even in some motors it will power off. In case of appliances like blenders where they will pull variable power like 500w then suddenly 800w once you put ice in it or sometning.... the jackery will hesitate here alot it does not like too much variable current draw. Bonus... If you cool the top of a lava lamp it goes up and down faster.
My interest in this product is will it run my power tool charging station. I have an Echo battery weed trimmer and I might need to recharge the battery while out on my mowing jobs
Hello well I have a chance to pick up one just like this one that you’re showing well my question is that when I was looking it took a little bit only because all the ones I was finding had only 1 power plug and I was just wondering why that is hoping you might know about and the other question is just about all the videos I did find there was a problem it wasn’t charging and the customer service was like hit or miss if that’s true or not idk so should I pick it up or should I pass
Iv had great luck with customer service. They just replaced a charging cable for me on my 1500 unit for free. The reason for the one plug is I believe that’s the 240 unit in the video that’s the 300
What was the wattage on the lava lamp? I ordered that exact unit yesterday APR30 discount code so total was 241.00 . I knew it would be used for travel to charge phones very low wattage fan and low wattage lights, I didn’t have any expectation for anything else so travel and camping or low wattage use should be fantastic, I was happy to see this video do others won’t have to expect more out of like you said there is the 500 and 1000 I personally want to start with the smaller one. I just did my first car camping trip in February three nights four days and yes shower at the gym and I was waiting for my phone to charge. I had no light on my trip to except car light. Parking under lamp posts was ok but you can’t turn that light off. No blackout curtains. My small dog loved the trip and wants to go again. I have been purchasing camping equipment from the new Menards in Richmond Kentucky. Thanks that was a needed video for everyone who is considering getting a Jackery.
Nice vid!! You are using your 300 with wrong things. I have the 240 and able to run things like an yyyy lamp like you said, but also the square box window fans, flat screen tvs, radios, cd and DVD players, and a whole lot more. Keep trying different stuff and you'll be surprised 😎
Yeah, a lot of heating elements pull at least 1500 watts. Good review man. This is the reason why I haven't bought one yet. Not really practical for me. Most phone battery's will last a few days. I like to go truck camping with my dog. Sometimes with a tent. I have a 24" tv in my truck with a DVD player. I wonder how long it would run it?
Did the same, got a 300w unit too, 42inch tv and android box worked well 2hrs (loadshedding) with 66% left, worked a 110w fan, full speed four 4hrs, charges the laptop, and my desktop, also was disappointed couldn't run, kettle, microwave or fridge, but at its price I will not complain, thank you for the video....will it run a drilling machine? Ray
@@JDubbsadventure you should get and review the K-TOR peddle generator. I've been getting back into emergency prepper stuff. I don't know why but I've always been fascinated by generators.
What do you think brother will that jackery run the pump on a self inflating air mattress for camping? what about an external pump for an air mattress. Just tired of lugging around my gas generator. What About a small electric heater for a tent?
real test would be to test it on realistic ways and appliances that actually run well on it. ac/dc fans, laptops, 45 inch tv, monitors, desktops, USB lights, little stuff. this is a back up power generation unit and not a real generator or solar inverter system.. I own a yoobao 300 watt power station that makes me happy and this is how I use it. I use it for 2 standing fans that are AC/DC with a 32 inch monitor and these 2 combined will give me 9 hours of power before it drains to 0.. I have tried it on my 45 inch tv and it ran for 5 hours as well as my laptop... so U need to understand the functions.... I also have a 30,000MAH POWERBANK THAT HAS ac/dc CAPABILITY AND THAT ALSO GIVES ME JUICE TO RUN FOR SOME GOOD HOURS..
these things are great for charging devices or running laptops/tv's, mini fridges, lights, etc. but not so great for appliances. id suggest for anyone to get a butane stove for cooking and boiling water and ditching those appliances for camping or getting caught in a power outage
One of those simple kill-o-watt power monitors would have told you the same thing with fewer contortions. I'd advise anybody who is thinking about one of these Jackerys to invest 15 bucks in a meter/monitor to first decide how large a power unit you need to buy for whatever you want to power. Personally, I sprung for the 880, (will supply 1000 with a 2000watt surge) because I know it will power either my fridge or freezer. Tip: ANYTHING with a heater is gonna be a power black hole. Yeepers - I clocked my danged toaster at an 800 watt draw. Also, your kitchen fridge might be a lot newer or just plain a lot more energy efficient than the cheesy little dorm fridge. Needs further research on your part. Like I said - get one of those Kill-o-watt meters. Watch when it kicks in for the startup surge.
Thanks for the review video 👍🏻 I've been trying to make a decision on buying a portable power station to run 2 ring portable stove to heat water and soup pots. Seeing what you tried using, I think this would struggle. Would you agree?
Thanks for watching. a simple amps to watts converter on google will give you a good starting point to look. 10 amps at 48v = 480 watts… I’d go with a 1000 or the 1500 is $600 refurbished on Amazon right now I’ll be doing a video on the 1500 any day now
I was only looking at one of these to run a heated blanket while I am camping. I am skeptical now. Looks like I'll stick with the trusted wool blanket instead.
Maybe the big refrigerator is energy efficient maybe that makes a difference Because energy efficient uses less power somehow slower or something I don't know
Well that really depends on your refrigerator. We lost power a few months back for 6 days and 2 jackery units (300&500)with 2 solar panels it worked as if it was plugged into the wall. The only “problem” was remembering to switch the units around. I think the 500 or 1000 with a 100w solar panel would work for the refrigerator if that’s what you’re wanting that would be a plug it up and forget it setup

It depends on the power you require. I love off grid multiple time a month using just the 300 or 240. I use it for lights charging phones and cameras and never needed more. If you want more of a house unit I’d look Into the 1500 or I think there’s a 2000 watt unit. Thanks for watching
I changed my ridgid 2amph battery today and the unit worked well pulls about 50 watts but never cut off. The time was the same as if I had it plugged in the wall
Would this work to charge a 36 v trolling motor system for my boat ...I would hook it up to a noco so I would just need one plug to charge the deep cycle batteries ...would u recommend this product?
To charge maybe I’m not sure You need to find out how many watt hours are in your battery’s now. Your gonna need that plus what it takes to run the inverter. I enjoy mine but I haven’t tried it for such a demanding Application
do you happen to know of a good portable battery solution that I can use with a holographic fan so I can walk around in public with the holographic fan? they say the holographic fan requires 60 watts. ALSO, is it safe to keep the power station in a vented backpack on your back like will it give me back cancer or something? any (brand/model) recommendations ? I just want the smallest power supply I can find that can power it for at least 1-2+ (2+ preferably) hours.
I ust bought one for the purpose of running a small heater and coffee maker. Very disappointed. I'm debating whether to keep it or not. It will charge my phone and laptop though, but I really want something to run a heater just in case we lose power.
Not sure, it would depend on the outside temp, how often your in the fridge, how efficient your fridge runs, how often your compressor cuts on and for how long. And I’m sure other things
Does anyone make something like this that just has replaceable charge batteries? Like my battery powered tools do I would like to find something that I could keep charged batteries in the house We don't get much sun in a blizzard so any ideas?
You should try your big fridge raider again if you shut off that means those things that’s up to it the coffee maker and all that stuff that’s up to that lol Jack they
Small generators like the Jackery 240, 300, etc. are really good for charging phones, tablets, and other small electronic items. They also run LED lights for long periods of time because LED lights draw so little wattage. They can also run low wattage camping fans for quite a while. Bigger items either require too much running wattage than the maximum watts that the generator can produce or the initial/periodic power draws are too much for them. (It is always fun to see the advertisements from the generator companies. They have someone running everything you can think of at a table outside their tent with a small generator or they show someone hiking with minimal equipment but lugging around big generator. Neither thing is going to happen.)
those portable batteries work great for my ham radios. but a fail to be a reserve for home appliances. not that there bad. just too small. devote a location close to your main power in from the grid. learn how to do it right . but a power auto transfer switch. the supply power can be the: grid, solar, min of 2kwh. generator, min of a 7K unit. battery. at least 8,000 amp hrs. it switches as needed. and will NOT back feed it the grid. ( safety thing for a worker).
When I worked as a contractor for dominion power I learned that the back feeding wasn’t as big of a deal as long as you follow all the safety protocols in place. That said a lot of people that do that work are not properly trained and become complacent after years of work
