You shouldn't be happy to advise me, but should be happy to teach me for my exams.. these types of short and exact explanations are really needed by us engineering students .
The gauges are available with different safety levels for the case to protect the user in the seldom event of a failure. Safety level S1 has a blow-out disc at the back, which will be blown away to the backside. At safety level S3 the complete back of the case will be blown away to the back side and additionally it has a solid baffle wall integrated which protects the user in front of the gauge.
One Submarines mainly bourdon tube pressure gauges are used. WIKA offers different kind of models even certain subsea models like PG23SUB. However, in order to find out the right solution for the each application a further discussion is highly recommended.
Hello @Chinedu Ukeachu, Here some information about our gauges … Most of our pressure gauges are measuring a relative pressure; this means we are measuring against the ambient pressure. Therefore our gauges have to be open to the atmosphere. This is achieved by special plugs or from the design. After installation of the WIKA gauge, the customer has to open the vent on the plug. It´s clearly described in the manual and on the plug; if somebody forget to open this ventilation, this can lead to indication errors. I Hope that this short description will answer your question. You can find more information about our pressure gauges here: www.wika.com/en-en/pressure_gauges.WIKA Best regards.
Hi @Ham549, From our application knowledge, traditional red colored gas bottle fire extinguishers uses a very small DirectDrive gauge. Currently there is no video available on the topic, but please find two (German and English) WIKA Blog articles below. blog.wika.us/applications/direct-drive-pressure-gauges-aerospace-military-oxygen-systems/ blog.wika.de/produkte/druck-produkte/directdrive-manometer-eigenschaften-und-einsatzbereiche/
The overpressure safety of bourdon tube pressure gauges depends on the nominal size and the material of the wetted parts of the gauge. Bourdon tube gauges from stainless steel in nominal size 100 for example have a standard overpressure safety of 1,3 x full scale value. However, optionally WIKA offers also increased overpressure safeties for these gauges depending on the measuring range (for example: 4 x full scale value) Further information can be seen in the datasheets of the single models.
