It's hard to think of everything in the moment. I'm really impressed by everyone who participates in this challenge, I feel like I would just die to one reaper/adept 😅
Winning build for survivors: Normal rax, then 4 marines Workers nonstop till saturation Bunker (immidiatelly after the first rax) Gas, PF Send workers to hidden place and build CC (away from minerals). When completed - build like 5 workers there. Spread them across the map. Turn second CC into PF. Stop mining gas. Now, when your first base is destroyed and the second is under attack - build CC to 99%. When your CC under construction is discovered - start next CC and cancel the cc that is attacked (you only lose 100 minerals on this operation). uThermal will have to find like ten CC under construction of yours. This should slow uThermal's progress a lot. > Why cc and not refinaries? So that you are not revealed.
As a guy who tried wall lowground I literally forgot that I playing against toss🤠, Still was awesome experience, learned usefull info, and it was really cool, hope to see similar events in a future🤩
timing is everything. When you can do 10 things while the other does 2... It's like and adult fighting a disabled toddler when you combine strategy/experience with that.
I believe the optimal strategy for this challenge would be to play zerg, gas-less and army-less. I would go 3 hatch before pool, go up to 48 drones (3 bases mineral saturation) if possible and then build 2 hidden hatches on each corner of the map and just keep droning. When the attack arrives, I'd pull all my drones and build extractors on as many bases as I can. With 500 HP for a 25 minerals cost, extractors have by far the best HP/mineral ratio of zerg (20 HP per mineral). After all the gas geysers are taken, if I had any drones left, I would split them on my 2 hidden hatcheries and try mining again and make spine forests with any remaining minerals to delay Marc's push. The beauty of this strategy is that pretty much anyone could execute it without skills, yet you're still building 10,000 HP worth of buildings scattered around the map which takes forever to kill no matter how good Marc is 😈
Idk if its a good idea bc I dont actually play starcraft I just watch it.... but what if you were to forgo building units all together.... you make nothing but drones burrow them in every base location and just wait till Marc comes and looks for a hidden building then after he leaves unburrow and make something 😆... split all the drones so all your mining is even that way when you loose a base it's not so much impact... hide drones as much as you can since you dont even need to win
When you lose all hatcheries the drones would be revealed after 30s, you have to start making a new one to reset the timer. The strat would be what you said but every 30s start and cancel a hatchery in a random spot and re-burrow. I think that could work
I wonder how well a strategy would work where you just completely ignore home defense and spend all your minerals building assimilators around the map.
I would love to see the commander idea pig did with harstem. Where he plays archon mode with 3 other players but he cant control anything, just say what others will do.
These guys... haha, the best defense is a good offense! I guess going up against a high GM it might not be but idk, I feel like they would've been better off making army over anything else.
Typically in these types of holdout challenges floating buildings is allowed for players to run them away, but if they have no buildings on the ground then they are considered eliminated. This way, it makes it a bit more fair for Protoss and Zerg.
No, they're not allowed to hide their buildings, because thermy felt it would give Terran too much of an edge. (And I presume because it's boring, too)
These are really fun! Hope they do well and everyone seems to be having fun, so it would be great to see more. If it goes well you could do 2-4 seasons a year. The strategies are really intriguing.
cannons, cannons, cannons(around your probes/nexus, and your wall. think like a TowerDefense),,,,then spread out a few probes(early enough to sneak out), and do the spread out thing (that zerg did with the Nidas) with any extra money.
Hi Marc. I'm the first Terran opponent. First thing I did was send out an SCV just to hide it so I could expand after I was safer. But I was completely taken off guard by you building in my wall so quickly. I think it might have to do with the map being so small, but also I'm probably a little slow. My fatal error was building a gass refinery up top first, because my SVC then mined some gas and tried to return home, completely throwing me off. And I never finished my wall, which I should have. But I am super glad you had fun, and I didn't get the worst time, so yay!
I'm just a casual observer but for this challenge alone, I think the ideal play would be to saturate base up front and wall off immediately but send a scv/probe/drone out to the wild and to begin a second base somewhere separately, then repeat it across the bigger maps! I think it would take a lot of time to stay on top of the constant moving bases. I'm actually surprised at how much further ahead you are on average compared to most of the players you are going against!
To me, he starts off just burning the ladder, because he's gotten bored of climbing. The pros just get out their littlle watergun and be done with it. The lesser players start flailing and screaming.
I would think spines with as many queens as possible is the way to go with some drones out on the map too... for Terran, pull 3 SCVs to build and protect against the probe... might be good to go Planetary for home base too. If you let the probe in your base you're in big trouble.
If you dont think you can win... play zerg, build dropper lords... get ov speed, and send them with drones around the map... cycle build hatacheries before they get attacked, adn try to get an OV in the center also.. This way you can cycle hatcheries around the entire map... or just play terran and go mass tanks with mass turrets.. goal would be like 15-20 tanks nad 30 turrets... and then the rest is just battel cruisers if possible wit hyomato... but you will probably be out of cash... you also have to survive an early push.. so walling off early can be helpful... or watch a few unthermal videos and mimic his early common starts... which is terran and rocket boys, lol
guys. as terran, to fight against early probe harassment, build a depo next to the barracks to complete the wall quickly! keep the probes on the low ground, and that way you can build double gas and go for siege tank tech quickly
If I was playing, I'd try different approaches: For Terran: Proxy a barrack and lift it in uThermal's base, he never scouts there. Also build a supply depot somewhere near minerals but stop it right away so it doesn't look like a depot. You can also try to go with the no gas 5-6 barracks and pump marine as much as you can. For Zerg: use the hatchery trick to build spine crawler anywhere and unburrow it, move it to hide. Get Burrow as first 100 gas and hide drones around the map, make the last stand buildings at the very last moment. For Protoss: Just saturate on one base, no gas, and build as many gateway or cybernetic core as possible, it cost only 150 and has alot of HP. You can even wall off your mineral line entirely after sending few probes on the map.
51:00 "CRACKING" voice. My voice is cracking/cracked. When you are losing your voice, you can also say it is cracking. I assume english uses this word because your voice will randomly stop(go quiet). You'll miss words randomly, like a hole/crack in the sentence.
Could use that. Hoarse is used frequently. I think, "losing my voice" is best for casters or after partying. Cracking does describe a specific sound (high pitch out of nowhere) that is made while male teens voices change. Explanation is for uthermal if he reads it. Just wanted to expand.
Marc your the best but all them portraits to me look so shit, I really don’t see what nice you see about them, ( personal opinion) mind you I’m a big fan of you, I’m just saying, when you say that portraits so nice I be like 🫣
