The ones that bother me the least are Interlagos and Watkins Glen. The ones that bother me the most are Hockenheim and Mexico City. A few small notes here, but the long course at Watkins Glen is closer to 3.4 miles (3.377 mi), and the newer Interlagos is closer to 2.7 miles (2.678 mi). As for Sebring, the more major reworks were for 1952, 1983, 1987, and 1991. It's also a little confusing because, yes, the original layout was 3.5 miles, but the old layout shown in the video is the 1952-66 course (5.380 mi). Zandvoort: they did what they could with what they had. Watkins Glen: if anything, the 1971 rework made the place more memorable. Sebring: you're kind of at the whim of what the airport needs. Donington: glad at how much of the old course could be kept. Hockenheim: I preferred the run through the forest so much. AVUS: I mean, it wasn't like it was the most inspired circuit. Interlagos: they did a good job working with the old layout. Mexico City: they redid every corner and butchered the Esses. For AVUS, I think one of the intermediate layouts would be optimal, so either the 3-mile version (1987-91), or one of the 5-mile variants (1951-67, 1968-70, 1971-86). Likewise, I think one of the in-between layouts at Sebring might be the best option, especially in light of modern cars. So I'd likely go with the 1987-90 circuit (4.110 mi).

I have to say I do prefer the modern Mexico City, However it would be much better without the stadium section. That completely ruins the flow of the circuit especially after coming out of the esses. My first couple of laps around the old Sebring went very well as I got lost when going down the runway straights 😂 Interlagos I think is a good example of "less is more", just think the old layout was just too much to navigate. I've got plenty more circuits I can feature in these so they'll be at least another 2 of these videos coming at some point.

So many of the new corners at Mexico City are so tight/angular that I feel like the circuit already lost most of its flow, with or without the stadium. Turns 1-5 were all much more rounded, and so you could go 2-wide, even pass on the outside. Now, they're all single-line, and trying to go 2-wide, you'll get run off the road. So even if the guy in front botches the 1st one in the sequence, you really can't take advantage in the trailing car. As for the Esses, 2 of the corners are gone. Then you have a slower one, and then you have 2 sets of just 2 corners each, with enough space between them that you don't have to flow the sequence together anymore. Previously, you had 6-8 turns, depending on the track layout, that you had to keep a rhythm through all of them, or else it would cost you. For Mexico City, I'd suggest watching the CART/Champ Car races there, especially 2006 or '07. Likewise, if you can find them, I'd recommend the A1GP races at Mexico City, particularly the pair of races from the 2006/07 season, when they didn't even use a chicane before Peraltada. Yeah, there's a story about one of the top drivers getting spun around in a Porsche 935 in the dark at Sebring, possibly in the wet, and not being entirely sure where they were, until they could see lights coming at them. On the bright side, the 1952-66 and 1967-82 layouts have most of the runways marked off by cones, so you can only use so much of the width, thus reducing the chances of getting totally disoriented out there. (Well, at least, the designated racing surface was supposed to be marked out by something more than merely a painted white line.) Old Interlagos is an eyeful, but I can't say it's bad, and it isn't slow, either. It all flows together really well. Also, a lot of people try to make the space efficiency argument for why modern circuits "are just better". Well, here, I can just whip out classic Interlagos and be like, "Ya wanna bet?" Oh, don't worry. I had no doubt you have plenty more options of circuits to choose from for more of these type of videos.
