Conservative politicians should listen to the younger voters more. Mostly because, empirically, they are smarter. I'm glad you asked why, Chuck. Here's a great example, we had lead in our gas for about 80% of the 20th century. As we all know, lead has neurodegenerative properties that affect humans badly, but very shortly after it was banned in the eighties(pretty sure '88), almost every childs test scores were 3 to 4 times higher than the previous generation. Also, as a bonus, health problems related to lead dropped significantly.

Infuriating that people who face a medium degree of sympathy are resorting to racial resentment. It is amazing to me to see how people are willing to harm PoC and immigrants and how easy people can be rushed into group policy. Conservatives are amazing at using the political tools that exist to exacerbate existing racial resentment. I used to be in support for full throated Swedish liberalism - I'm increasingly becoming more moderate because all of the work that liberals do (passing Obamacare, supporting a reasonable social safety net) keeps getting ERASED by conservatives who vote against their own interest.

I applaud him for at least recognizing white men as something other than boogie men and recognizing that we are in fact human with legitimate problems and concerns. His conclusions are completely wrong, in fact he's part of the problem, but hey, he at least identified a real concern.

Metzl makes a wonderfully compelling analysis. His appeal to rationality is dampened by the unnecessary maudlin piano score accompanying his talk. I think we need to think rather than emote and not be manipulated while we do so.

@@evilfingers4302 in a way, but it's the Poor, blue counties that are talking most of the money. The problem with many people in the south is they become too reliant on welfare, and don't want to move up in life. African Americans have voted for Democrats for decades, even when they were pro Jim crow and pro segregation.
