As a historian their historical accuracy and costuming and design accuracy are incredibly high!

This is one of the main reasons why I love this amazing show! My only complaint is there are too many terrific characters that have left the show! The show is still wonderful, but it breaks my heart! I get so attached! Anyone else? :)

I never knew where the term 'midwife' came from, but it makes total sense to me now. 'Mid' is like the German 'mit' or the Dutch 'met', which indeed means 'with'. Funny enough in those languages the word for midwife is totally different. In Dutch it's 'vroedvrouw', which means something like 'wise woman', and in German it's 'Hebamme', meaning 'grandmother', in the sense of a wise older woman. Also great names for this very old profession.

Es la serie más deliciosa que he visto,y, magnifícamente hecha,ambientada,actores,maquillajes,todo.,perfectos y pulcros uniformes,me encantan,me recuerdan cuando empecé mis estudios en la escuela de enfermeras ,que íbamos así.

I absolutely love this show - my PBS channel is starting all over again. Only thing that bothers me is that they don't wrap the babies up well.

We don't like to swaddle our babies in the UK, we like to let them feel freer, both my boys were never swaddled and my grandsons all 3 of them the youngest is just 6 months old have never been swaddled. Nap time is their favourite blankie loosely covering them.

@@alisonsmith4801 There's a difference between the tight swaddling - and just sort of wrapping a towel/blanket so loosely around a baby that it cannot keep warm. That's what I meant - not the tight swaddling. Don't think anyone swaddled back in the 50s and 60s as they do now

@@pattisakalauskas7946 We just don't go in for swaddling, midwives here discourage it, hence the looser blanket, my Auntie was a Midwife during the late 50s to the late 70s and I remember her wearing the very same uniform worn in the tv show, although most of the births she attended was hospital births, she had a lovely personality and she had her own repeat mums who would personally ask for her to deliver their baby, even years later after she retired she still had ladies come up to her and say " You delivered my baby" and thank her.

@@alisonsmith4801 How interesting and delightful for you to see that. I'll keep that in mind when I see arms and legs unwrapped.. but have to admit I just want to bundle the wee babe up. LOL

@@pattisakalauskas7946 Just happy that many Americans have taken to a beautiful well written British tv show, and I'm looking forward to the Christmas day special on BBC 1 and the new series starting in the new year.
