OMG I did the same thing. I couldn't stop reading on the internet about what disease I worried I had. This 100% describes OCD which has to do with fear of self harm (fear of diseases). This is the first time I ever heard this accurate a description of the experience of the fear. This is amazing.

This pandemic made mine much much worse so I've been re reading Edna Foa's book and brain lock. I'm curious. Do you have ocd as well?

I have reasurance seeking OCD about contamination on my clothes when I go to the bathroom, about urine splashing on me or scratching my dermatitis between my legs in my sleep and finding stains on my jumper from the cream I use between my legs from scratching when I wake and obsess about whatever else I have touched in my sleep , it sounds crazy but I obsess about touching everything , I have to wash my hands so much that they look old and wrinkly I tell my wife about every thing that I touch that I obsess about for reasurance, it has ruined my marriage , my doctor has put me on sertraline 50mg as paroxetine 60 mg was useless .

I actually listened to this podcast for reassurance. How do you get over that one question? It drives me insane to not know. Thanks you so much for making these videos!!! They've helped me so much.

I like ur take on reassurance. I've never heard this before until now and now I realize how all my years of seeking reassurance has never worked. currently I have h-OCD. It's just about the worst it's ever been and that's with therapy and medication. I'm also trying to get sober from a certain non-chemical addiction which is giving me some problems at the moment. But what u said about reassurance seeking is profound so thank you

This is crazy watching this now. You posted this a month and a half before I had my first OCD episode right before my senior year of high school and I've struggled severely at times the last 12 years. It's crazy remembering a time I never struggled with serious OCD intrusive thoughts and ruminations. This is a traumatizing disorder at times.

I can ignore this doubts, false memories and other ocd thoughts but the problem is I sometimes think that if I did do move on from it maybe I don't want to accept, admit that I did do something and I just want to forget about it, this is the problem. What do you recommend me to do or tell my mind? Should I just tell my self what you said in this video I trust that is just Ocd? By the way nice video thank you for the help :)

LilBadBoyJams sorry for late reply, I missed it somehow. Say to yourself that no matter what OCD tells you, you are CHOOSING to ignore it, doesn't matter what kind of guilt trip it throws at you.

The example you gave is very same to mine. I have HIV anxiety, and I work in healthcare wherein I use needles all the time to administer live saving treatments for patients. Anyway, I live with constant fear that I may get needle pricked and then have a disease from it. This lead me to constantly scrubbing my hands, making sure that they are intact, but my brain still tells me, no, you are punctured! Even without any evidence! My brain goes in what if mode, now I tell myself, if I get injured, I will know, so far nothing has happened, but my brain just go what if what if what if. It is a constant loop of anxiety and obssessing over a scary thought scenario. It gets exhausting. I did ask my friend who was a nurse too, and with a toothy grin he says, "i always get exposed to blood, i don't think much about it" then i will force myself to end the discussion there. I miss my old self, my old self was never like this. Been working at the hospital for 10 years now, but it was during the pandemic wherein I developed insane levels of OCD.

Thanks so much. My son has really bad OCD in several ways including religious OCD. I am reassuring him all day every day! I realize I am hurting him instead of helping him so I am going to start today not reassuring him. I know he will think I am mean - this is the problem. How do you deal with this?

Thanks for the video but doesn't it also mean that watching this video means you are looking for reassurance?

+Patrick Van Herck It can mean that, but it's important to watch it for people who don't know about the harm of reassurance.

It is quite hard for me to don't find answer for a doubt and question, because I have a feeling that the thought will stay forever in my mind. I worry it will happen
