In today's video, we're diving deep into the extraordinary journey of Welsh rapper Ren Gill. Ren is not just an independent rapper with over a million monthly Spotify listeners, but a resilient artist who has faced mental health struggles, including a battle with Lyme disease that spanned half of his lifetime. From his early years in Wales, learning to play the guitar, to forming the band Trick The Fox, Ren's musical journey took unexpected turns. We then explore Ren's discography, from light-hearted songs to deep tracks like "Hi Ren," a nine-minute masterpiece that went viral with 6.8 million views in two months! Ren's resilience earned him recognition, awards, and a breakthrough number one album, "Sick Boi," in 2023.

Please do upload that as well - you can always make a clear disclaimer that it contains spoilers. I have devoured Rens music including his eight autobiographical chapters. Loved watching this bio, it should have far more views - especially for the millions of new Renegades since “Hi Ren”😎🙏👍🏻

Nice job! though at the beginning you said he resides in Wales, while he is originally from Wales, he has resided in Brighton, England for years. Also, he started his treatments here in Canada in early 2023, though he did send in test samples to the clinic during 2022. Thanks for covering some Ren history, I've learned a few things along the way! Maybe see if you can do a deep dive into Chinchilla? She's amazing too!!!

Fantastic video. As a Renegade (fanatic - I mean dedicated - Ren fan) I bought several copies of Sick Boi to help put it over the top! It's not cheating, ad they were given as gifts, but I bought 3 CDs, 3 cassettes, 1 album, and a download. I know from our online community that many of us did the same. And many of us joined his Patreon when it launched and even sponsored memberships for fans who can't afford one right now. Ren is not just a musical genius, he's a visionary of how the world can be and an inspiration to his fans to create that better world. Thanks for the video!

Correction: Jenny & Screech’s Tales are set in 2019, Violet’s Tale was set in 2005. V’s partner didn’t beat her because she was pregnant, he beat her because he was an arsehole, and she happened to be pregnant. Crucial difference.

There is something besides Stevie being a womanslaughtering arsehole, though. He is inquiring into why Violet is always so silent, leading some renegades to conclude he might be wondering if the baby isn't his, and that in turn meaning she has not gotten rid of her abusive father yet. So, while not nearly making amends, there is a side to Stevie that might have helped the two out of their deep depressing pit. Dark grey, but not all dark black-out.

High praise for this doc! Very well put together and edited. I discovered Ren last March and have been "using" his life story and artistic endeavors as inspiration for my own mental health and creative projects. This documentary fills in a lot of gaps of his story that I didn't know. Subbed!

Ren is Truly a Once in a Multi-Generational Artist on the Level of Shakespeare. He is a Performance Art Master who blends music and character acting from all the styles over the last 500 years and makes it Modern and Relatable to all generations even if normally you may not be a fan of whatever genre he is currently performing. From Location and Video Directing Worthy of Tarantino or Spielberg, to Lyrics Shakespeare would have been Proud to have Written, To an Emotional Performance on par with Marlon Brando or Morgan Freeman and the Musical Prowess of Jimmy Page or Eric Clapton and the Vocal Chops of Robert Plant or M&M! In Money Game Pt3 when offering His Solution to the Sociatal Issues he is showcasing, Ren stated "Mold will Grow upon the Surface and Consumes til it dies, and Our Fate could be the same without this Story to the Wise" The more I hear from Ren the more I realize his Solution is to be a Teacher Opening the Eyes of Millions with his Art and his Heart! And I think Ren's message is Crystal Clear. Ambition and Passion Without Compassion Will Cause the World To Burn! But Ambition and Passion WITH Compassion Can Save It! His Compassion is Manifestly Obvious and If enough of Us actually LISTEN to his words, then Maybe, Just Maybe the Hunan Race may Survive!

Thank you for this excellent summary of Ren‘s tough life, some facts were new to me, although I have been following Ren for a while now. One correction I have to make though: 10:24 the tragic encounter of Jenny and Screech takes place in 2019 (the year Ren released the first two videos of the trilogy) when they were 14 years old. It’s Violet who tragically passes away after giving birth to the twins in 2005.

This was an absolutely brilliant synopsis of Ren's journey. Although I was aware of most of the things mentioned, you did inform of a few things i.e.that patience's, was on his demo part 2 track list, his recent accolades, and the fact that the music from the track, uninvited was from another song. I think many people can identify with Ren's physical and psychological struggles; far more people have insisable disabilities, and suffer in silence. Ren gives these people and anyone else struggling in life a voice. My own life has been full of such struggles to the point that; when recounting these experiences to two different therapists during my life, they both almost beoke down in tears. Some would focus only on the negatives in my life and call it dark; while I focus on the things I have overcome and still face head on, and see my life as one of overcoming life's obsticles.

Ren is unique, emenim is a rapper, that is literally all he can do, he cannot sing or play any instrument at all. Ren is so much more than just a genre. Title should be 'How Ren is surviving lymes disease and his journey.' There is no cure for lymes, only treatment, so your title is a little misleading, claiming that it's past tense with "survived" when he's still going through massive treatments to be able to function. Great video though.

This was a good summary even though you got a few facts wrong but the biggest error was talking about how "The Tales" end. That is a massive faux pas. Primarily, Ren is a story teller who uses music. Never, ever give away the ending to a Ren story.

Pounds, not dollars. The UK happens to be a different country (and a world away by the sound of it) from where you clearly live! Pounds are worth more than your dollars last I heard. Pretty muddled in parts, and some of your "facts" may need checking and tweaking. Chronological order seems a bit out of whack at times if I am not mistaken? Some interesting points raised.

@@beetlebat you could have just spoken about the phenomenonal guitar work - classical and Spanish styles of Ren and that each piece was filmed as a one take and that the story dealt with the effects of intergenerational violence - with out giving away the ‘ punch in the gut ‘ ending . Apart from that I have to say your summary was really well done - I enjoyed the trip down mememoy lane and even found out some new stuff about Ren.
