They also forget that AFTER his hiatus he came back and ran for another like 3k yards or so, including 1,100 yards and 11 TDs on 4.7 YPc and 1,500 total YFS like SEVEN years after his 2002 legendary season .!
Those Brees era Saints teams sort of redefined the position where 1k yard rushers were devalued in favor of a trio of backs with higher efficiency (Bush, Sproles, Thomas, Ivory averaging 5 yards/pop with your leading back finishing with fewer than 700 yards.
Running backs being devalued is one of the main reasons why I don't watch the NFL & havent watched thr NFL since the Eagles won their 1st super bowl 7 years ago. I grew up watching & idolizing RBs. Adrian Peterson, Darren Sproeles & Beast mode Marshawn Lynch are my guys. I could care less about the NFL now with them gone & the NFL not caring about the RBs anymore.
So you didn't watch Derrick Henry, Ezekiel Elliott saquon Barkley, Christian McCaffrey, Nick Chubb,, Jonathan Taylor, Austin eckler, dalvin cook, Alvin kamara
@@pp3k3jamail I know majority of them except Jonathan Taylor & Austin Eckler. I watch College Football & I'm very familiar with Derrick Henry from Alabama & Christian McCaffrey from Stanford because they were star RBs for their teams. Zeke, Kamara & Barkley were young star RBs at the time I still watched the NFL, so I watched them for a bit. Cook & Chubb I believe were rookies at the time & I've seen them for a bit. Taylor & Eckler, I don't know at all.
If you follow closely enough you’ll see it’s tied to other positions and their market. Ie you could see kickers eventually making what they are now ages ago. Every so often one player at a position makes a bigger jump sooner than expected. It ripples then slows down. Repeat.
Wide receiver will be the next non QB position to win an MVP with the value of running backs a fraction of what they were 2 decades ago. With the chance in base defenses with an emphasis on edge rushers, coverage lighter and faster linebackers and safeties the extinction of run sniffing nose tackles, 43 OLB’s and in the box safeties the gap has narrowed between the most and least talented running backs where it’s common to to dart 3 yards past the LOS before contact.
Bad, horrendous level, take. RBs aren’t getting second or third contracts because their bodies are broken down. No franchise wants to submit their QBs to the same level of punishment. Lamar Jackson is an outlier, Justin Fields is a QB in name only most of the time and is now injured. RG3 was an explosive scrambling QB and then blew up his knee. Kyler is a scrambling QB who just came off a torn ACL.
@@griffinwade59are you really just gonna ignore the 15 years the nfl spent trying to turn qbs into rbs? From Mike Vick until basically last year that was the M.O. Obviously rbs getting hurt and breaking down is a huge reason why but its not the only one
