“ I always thought Page was much more serious about Crowley, Druidism, Magick, Celtic folklore, etc. Blackmore liked the image” - Dick O’Dell, Deep Purple’s lighting director. I get the exact same impression.
According to Peter Grant's ex-secretary in the later years of Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page, at best, had a mild fascination with the occult. I don't know if I believe that. He seems pretty serious to me. I think Ritchie is serious too, from stories I've heard, but I don't know to what extent.
Bon Scott, original lead singer of AC DC, wore a pentagram necklace around his neck. That symbol didn't protect him on the night that he died alone in the backseat of a car from alcohol poisoning. So incredibly SAD.
Unfortunantly, he may have changed your afterlife. The Devil is already going to Hell, and will be tricking as many people as possible to follow him there.
I can tell you that Robert Plant is the same, I went to his mansion in the 80s with my boyfriend who was a singer and with a producer. I knew Plant was connected to the occult and I really didn't want to go. I actually got trapped in a toilet at a pub before going to his house. At the mansion I remember going in , being given red wine and nothing much else until we were Going home. My boyfriend said I was tired and fell asleep. But I know something else was going on , never trust them
Thanks for the great video. As far as Jimmy Page versus Ritchie Blackmore let's all be grateful that we have two great bands Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple to enjoy.
I find it so frustrating that when people are asked to name the great guitar players, Ritchie Blackmoor is hardly mentioned. If you ask me, if I felt there was a guitar player that could give a guy like Eddie Van Halen a run for his money, it would definitely be Ritchie Blackmoor. He's so great because Ritchie actually employed unusual guitar scales; some of Middle Eastern origin/influences. The only other guitar player that would do that would have been Randy Rhodes.
@@stanlee-eq7luAbsolutely. Also had a phenomenal tone and sound. He used to play on the mountains in Vermont, loud as hell, just to hear the echos. The man went all out to find the right sounds
I am a huge fan of Ritchie Blackmore, especially with Rainbow and Blackmore's Night. I like Deep Purple, but am a huge fan of his other work. And I am also into the occult. It is a part of me to explore the other realms and go be beyond religious boundaries. I actually once had a pet ferret named after him, although I wrote it Ritchy. Still, It is one of my favorite boys names. By the way: occult means hidden, not evil. That last one is a choice we make. To me, there is no black or white magick, only intent.
"Johnny remember me" used to be Siouxsie's favourite tune, because it was about a lady speaking to her lover... from her grave. Of course, this was also a Joe Meek's famous tune. None of these guitar heroes mentioned in the comments here, could parallel Joe Meek,in terms of true innovation and demonic influence in music. He also produced Heinz,a favourite of mine. Meek insisted they were lovers , something that the wife of Heinz dismissed completely, stating that it was jealousy on the side of Meek. Joe Meek was truly a one-off,but unfortunately,he was a psycho too, thus the tragic and horrible ending to his (and his landlady's) life. But this period in English pop music, just before the Beatles and the whole British invasion thing,is in my opinion really amazing and original. And there's this movie too, I think it's called Telstar, which describes Meek's life. A really good movie. Another notable protégé of Meek, was the drummer Clem Cattini.
Pick up a book by someone who really understands the occult more than a rock guitar god. If not you're looking to Aliester Crowley to teach you guitar...
@@loboblanco4426 I've been studying the occult since 1985. I don't need his book....I just think it would be cool to hear his views since he takes it seriously.
@@NECRONOMICON7-7-7 I've studied the many grimoires I have. I've studied the Golden Dawn and Aliester Crowley....even been to Crowley's Boleskine House. I've studied the Strigoi of Romania. I've also studied Gerald Gardner's witchcraft...not the fluffy Wicca of today, but Gardner's Book of Shadows. I've also done the Abra-Melin ritual...something I assume you understand given your online name.
People neglect the fact that everyone has a dark side and we must learn to respect it but keep it in check, balance is the key but Spiritual darkness leads only to one place, that is spiritual death. Darkness’ very nature is death
Ritchie Blackmoor was far better than many people realize. He's overshadowed by greats such as Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhodes, and others. If you ask me, I'd say Ritchie Blackmoor was a far better guitar player than Eddie Van Halen. A lot of the reason being, Ritchie employed many non Western Civilization scales into his music. I like playing chromatic harmonica, and I have an app for my android that lets me employ European scales along with the standard scales in all keys. I'd love improvising Russian musical scales in different keys in both my C Major as well as Bb tuned harmonicas. I am a total Jazz music lover so employing a Russian music scale on my Bb harmonica for some improvised Jazz music would sound very different but also surprising.
In an interview Ozzy said the movie Black Sabbath motivated them to change the band’s name to Black Sabbath.. sounds like they all liked the scary stuff.. Great job Kar , Rock On ! ✌️
In his book he mentioned how Sabbath were sharing a flat (I think they were calling themselves Earth at this point) across from a cinema and someone - I think Geezer - noticed that when a horror movie was playing, there was always a queue round the block. Then they took the name of one of the films like you said.
Sabbath were afraid of it and preached jesus and wore crosses of protection, they were wimps. Now King Diamond on the other hand embraced it. Doing a video like this on King Diamond and all of his hundreds of experiences with the Supernatural and spirits and Satanic Rituals would take hours and hours of video time!
Richie Blackmore is one of my biggest influences, it's been a big weird journey finding out all my guitar heroes into the occult or mysticism just like I am, guess that we're drawn to what we're drawn to
I've Enjoyed Mr Blackmores Playing With Whoever Was in His Band I Still Listen To His Music Today I'm 68Yrs. Of Age If Is Deep Into The Occult Get Out and Get Help Through The Church
Ritchie is a Mount Rushmore guitarist. DIO said they summoned a demon called Baal. If you look at the back cover of long live rock and roll, it says no thanks to Baal.
@davidolsen9425 Well then, they're all lying. Wendy Dio got pushed down a flight of steps. Each band member said that place was haunted, and they summoned a demon. I don't know why they would lie about that. But maybe they are, I wasn't there. Maybe you know better. In fact, that's why Tony Carey jumped out of a 2nd story window and quit 🌈. If you know anything, the song "LA connection" was written about Tony going back to LA. He said it was insane things going on there. He had pranks pulled on him, and he also had many sightings of a 😈. I guess Cozy Ritchie, Ronnie Daisley, and Carey were all lying. Not one of them over the years change their story about what happened there. I'm just telling the story. I wasn't there. I don't know. Rock on 🤘
Blackmore had a "Paganini 6:24 complex". And Yes . He played some bits of classically inspired solos , but I think he lived the image of Paganini, or thought he was., who also wore black when he performed. And if any guitarist fits the Paganini legend , and who translated that to the electric guitar, it was undoubtedly Yngwie Malmsteen. Who truly blew everyone's mind when he came on the scene especially with his solo debut album. And even though you did not mention Paganini, Blackmore was inspired by him and honed the whole mysterious persona .
His mother Violet was a gypsy, she used to do spells , he said it himself in an interview , Ritchie also said he was interested in paranormal fennomane , seances and pixis in the woods etc , Ritchie is a Scorpio rising thus his interest in the occult and his mystic demeanour
I saw Ritchie in the daytime playing soccer with Deep Purple against the local Orlando radio station at lake Mary High School in the late eighties. So he didn't always sleep throughout the daytime.
So sad that Jesus died a cruel death to fight tyranny, and now his word is abused to spread it. I think he was more likely talking about the Roman emperor than about mankind. Jesus was a historical figure. I adore his fight for freedom and his tales to make people stand up for themselves. I just hate how Christianity turned it into a tool of mind control. I love the original Jesus, not what them have turned him into.
@@MGCrow-jc6ps What Bible did YOU READ? Jesus was here to overthrow SPIRITUAL TYRANNY, the same SPIRITUAL DARK forces that Ritchie follows, Not the Roman Empire. God used the Roman empire to spread IS Word WORLD WIDE!
@@jpb1231000 The Christian bible. And it made me think about faith. Now I am all into the occult and a happy person. Ritchie is not harming anybody as far as I know. The Curch is abusing people and damaging lives.
Both he and Jimmy Page are playing with fire and are going to suffer eternal remorse when they breathe their last breath. And I do not say that with any judgmental scorn. My heart goes out to them. Satan is NO god. He’s a deceiver.
Doing a video like this on King Diamond and all of his hundreds of experiences with the Supernatural and spirits and Satanic Rituals would take hours and hours of video time!
Sorry, I should've written 'To be continued' at the end. We're gonna release one more video about Ritchie and the paranormal. Plus it creates a bit of mystery in the end.
Goths existed way before the cure and Bauhaus where do you think they got it from the yardbird's were heavy and goth it started with the stones in 68 the mid evil thing replaced the flower people .
I was wondering when drugs were going to come into the story, and et voila, along comes barbiturates and, Amphetamine use! If anything is going to mess a person's psychology up, and give them psychosis, it's barbiturates and amphetamines.
I've read "Hellhounds on their Trail", and several other works on musicians in relation to the occult. It's a correlation/causation issue. Musicians are miny edge-lords from the start; especially rock, metal, etc. They scour old horror novels and grimoires for lyrics (Metallica's early career was built on Lovecraft novels, ESPECIALLY "Ride the Lightning". They practice in places known to be huanted (Duane Allman at a Georgia cemetery). They purposefully put cryptic, creepy symbols onto their artwork (Led Zeppelin "Zoso", Megadeth "Cryptic Writings", and the famous cover of The Eagles "Hotel California)... Are you starting to see a pattern? Throw in drugs, booze, women, new cars, and a reckless lifestyle, and of course these deaths look like some kind of "supernatural comeuppance". It's just rich guys with low inhibition engaging in dangerous activities and substance abuse. There's no demons, no summoning, no "deal at the crossroads". As a professional recording musician (by age 16) I can tell you that IT'S ALL AN ACT. Look at Ozzy, his whole family has become part of his act, lol. Blackmore and Page are both extremely talented and prodigious guitarists, and they're both edge-lords whom like people to think they're invovled in occult practices, because it keeps them relevant outside of creating new music. There's nothing supernatural about shooting up, then plowing your Maserati into a culvert. I highly suggest the aforementioned book if you're interested in music and it's relationship to the occult. The big takeaway, is most of the musicians were introduced to occult ideas by professional groupies, like Anita Pallenberg, via "sex magic". The same BS L. Ron Hubbard used to rope people into his psuedo-religious sex cult.
> "There's no demons, no summoning, no "deal at the crossroads". Work with me for just one moment. Imagine that the bible is actually God's words imparted through man and that God's primary concern is our eternal life for our souls and that we would have purpose, strength, comfort and peace in this world. Would He have warned us - many times - in the bible against these occult practices if there was really nothing to it? Or, is it more like a loving parent telling their child over and over again to look both ways before they cross the street? Here's the deal... everyone, whether they want to admit it or not, is looking for answers but most don't want the hard truth in God's Word. It's called pride.
@@davekpghpa My grandfather was an evangelical pastor. He was one of the first white men allowed to preach the Word in Ghana; one particular tribe loved him so much, they made him a literal king. My dad is a deacon/usher/audio-visual consultant at his church, Calvary Chapel. Here's what I got out of the good book: "Gnashing of teeth, the peeling of flesh, devoured by a worm that never dies". I remember being 7, huddled in the floorboard of my dad's truck, because the moon was red, which was, "A sign of Armageddon" and "The end is VERY NEAR". I never felt the "Love of Christ" people seem to keep crowing about; just fear. So, I've spent my life studying weapons, hand-to-hand combat, grappling/wrestling, swordsmanship, marksmanship, knife-combat, spearmanship, and the history of warfare & strategy. I like being responsible for my own well-being, and my family's. Is there something to the occult? Maybe there is. But, it's not more powerful than a sharp bar of steel ripping through all 16 arteries in the human neck. Muscle, Steel, & Fire are what I believe in. As to the musicians, "dabbling" or not, they have an extremely long history of, to sum it all up, "misbehaving".
Great and very interesting video as always! Thanks! YJM said in an interview (GuitarWorld July 2008) that in his early years he was 'heavy duty into the occult' ... Dave Mustaine also has said in several interviews stories about his past with witchcraft... For example ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bLz3cwiR2kA.html
The way they talk about themselves. What they're willing to reveal. The symbols in their tattoos and necklace charms. Their love of money and success. Their fascination with what is seen and what it hidden. Their talk of making dreams coming true as if its a supernatural transaction that ended with them being given an amazing an unlikely success. The adoration and respect that they receive is much higher than what their talent/skill/contribution suggests. The subtle changes in their eyes. Do not betray the evidence that is always revealed by their eyes. You can censor what the eye collects but not that which the eye discards. Remember that. Your question may or may not have been sincere but i am giving a sincere answer. The answer is: anyone who understands who Satan is.

So cool to be a rebel in this world, kicking against the goads? The beast lures in with promises of wealth, power and fame, and quite often delivers, "and there are many who go in by it". Then the beast chews you up and spits you out. And what keeps most on the path of destruction is pride. No one likes to admit they've been taken as a fool. I'll take the narrow gate.
I’ll tell you why Ritchie got into all that mystical mumbo jumbo: He saw Pagey slaying and playing all over the world, playing so cool and looking so cool and selling REAL cool and thought: “Well, I can’t sound as good or play as well as him, can’t write like him….. I KNOW it’s not a deficiency of talent (Ritchie being the pretentious egomaniac that he is) so it must be a deficiency of magic spells!” - a partial, biased, life-long zep fan.
@@Fuxerz I’m not so sure about that. I know he’s on record as being fascinated with Kashmir when it came out. And he was always getting into arguments/fights with bonzo that seems to hint at some jealousy maybe… But, to be clear, I have no good evidence or indisputable examples to support my original post. Just giving air to my suspicions. And, IMO, I do suspect I’m on the right track… Edit: I’d be interested to know what Shawn Staples (the narrator of this channel) opinion is on this subject.
@chraffis That group of guitarists were all into the occult. For some weird reason. But I think he was mad at Jimmy because he bought Allister Crowley's house. Jimmy literally got there a couple of hours ahead of him to buy it. Remember that interview. He went there to look at it and Page was already there and bought it. I think that's where the rough relationship comes from. Jimmy admitted that Blackmore could wipe the stage with him as a lead guitarist.
The Bible is just another tool of divination; and black magic the most boring, racist, misogenistic, and nonsensical form of divination but divination none the less.
