@@justlike5895 Thats the point, scenes like these needs ample time to marinate, u dont just show glimpses n head straight to the Roxy scene. Think back abt how they did the Paul n Rudeus fight in ss1, the execution was amazing, 1 episode for build up n conflict, and 1 more the resolution. Or how they did the ending in ss1, him wailing in self pity n lost in his memories. This is how u tell a story, u dont just write something like "they were grieving, off screen" n call it a day. Paul's death should be 10x more impactful than anything he has ever experienced before, he lost something he never knew was so important, the despair is on a whole other level. Not to mention, it wasnt just Rudeus, Roxy also needed the time to flesh out her emotions, grief, n internal conflict. I know they dont have the time, but come on, half an episode? The whole time watching I felt like it was on 2x speed, n the whole thing fell flat.

Roxy saw the fear in the eyes of Rudy and understood he was like her. He couldn't leave home just like she couldn't stay home. That fear of all those people looking and judging it is so scary one can't move. Which is why she thought it was cruel the whole party lead her on and didn't tell her Rudy was already with someone. Because that isolation she felt back with her parent came back up right there. She felt a fool. Something only she can understand of Rudy. Because even through she didn't know he was isekai'd their aura was the similar. And it hurts her even more knowing she could never find someone like Rudy after all those years of trying. Nobody else beside them could understand.

The screaming match with Norn hit him more than it would have since he finally came to accept Paul as his father, and now his honest to God sister is screaming and berating a person whose saved his life so many times already, but he can't say anything because he'll ostracize one of them permanently. At the end of the day, though, sylphiette comes in clutch with the "I love him, but my goodness some days I'd like to not have a ball of horn roaming around and someone else can deal with that. I'm taking about you, Roxy, you made the bed now lie in it." 😂

​@@kaiserc2471Well, he was about to stop Roxy. He already spouted "wai.." but Sylphy was faster to say "wait" and reach out to Roxy. What Rudy was about to do is stop Roxy and then ask for Sylphy's permission. Because Sylphy hasn't talked anything yet.

Oh, yeah this is a good point! That makes even more sense now. I completely forgot how Roxy helped Rudy get over his fear of venturing outside. She was his savior and in essence, his first true friend after becoming a shut in.

As someone who agrees with Gigguks concern, I don’t think this video addresses any of that. All of the depth of Rudy’s depression this video goes over could absolutely be true, and Roxy pulling Rudy out of that could also have been very important for their development. But sex is not going to pull anyone out of that kind of despair. Roxy could have spent the night with Rudy talking and she would’ve been just as supportive if not more. Additionally, the fact that Rudy faces zero consequences for cheating on his wife feels problematic. Instead of Rudy dealing with the mistake, he’s basically rewarded for it. It stops becoming a character study and just becomes a harem. That’s what’s disappointing.

@@ChanningChea From the novel it wasn't that having the deed made everything go poof and he was happy. It was more so that it got him out of the negative spiral so that he could start properly processing things.

@@glezard212 He didn't value either family, Japanese or Asuran. Not until Paul died and Zenith lived in dream mode. He sank into crippling depression thinking of how poorly he'd treated both families. That's when proper familial feeling emerged, too late x2. That's what truly got him rock bottom.

Well at the end of the day, things will be cut no matter how many episodes they get. I mean im sure things are cut for One Piece yet hardly anyone says anything about that. So yes while i wouldve like to have seen how Roxy reacted to hearing how Rudy was married and the whole "bombshell" at the end here, its just something that I, as an anime only, will have to live with. Same with everyone else as not everything can be covered.

The problem is that by Rudy just giving up, he was basically just abandoning his responsibility to his future child, his sisters, and his wife. He was like a father that just walks away. Maybe they did in the books, I don't know, but why didn't any of them remind Rudy that he needed to go back to his family? It make more sense if he was thinking that they'd be better off without him because he was a failure or something. Instead, it is just him not caring about people and it is all about his own feelings.

I appreciate your perspective on it, but the shock of being left by a romantic partner (his first ever romantic partner in 50years of his accumulated life, mind you) can't have the same consequences as losing his parents. Erectile dysfunction is tied deeply to a man's confidence regarding his sexual capability, not his familial issues. Might as well mention this since season 1 is a long time ago. 1. When Eris left, Rudy was all alone. He had no one to speak with or depend on. Unless you count that one guy who worked for Eris' family. I personally wouldn't. This time, he is being comforted by friends and family. It wouldn't be an overstatement to say that Roxy was Rudy's first love since reincarnating too, so that meant the world. 2. He never got a real answer as to why Eris left. If anything, he thought Eris ran away because he sucked so bad at sex. Which meant he is pathetic by most standards. 3. Losing your parents is akin to natural disaster, it would happen sooner or later anyway. Losing your GF because you suck at sex is nothing like a natural disaster, it's a personal failure. The hard part is that Rudy realized how "ungrateful" he was to his current parents, not to mention his past parents. His talk with Roxy lifted a lot of this burden. And I think there are a lot of degenerate loud fans who keep screaming "AH YES LOLI PLEASE" or "HAREM CONFIRMED FML I'M COOMING" and poisoned your view of the work itself, but it is clear from Norn's (the only "normal" person in the room) outburst that people within that world is also upset about this for the most part. The author intended for this to be a CONTROVERSIAL DECISION, not something to be encouraged. Aisha was the child of a 2nd wife, she had no room to argue. You probably forgot but Elinalise (who has a very different view on love and sexuality due to her curse and way of life) was the one who pushed Rudy to make such a decision, and NOT the majority of his group, family nor friends. About Rudy's depression seemingly "solving itself with no real consequences", no it did not. First off, he was not cured of it willy-nilly. It simply jolted him back out from wallowing in self-harm. He was completely unresponsive for weeks to anyone else before Roxy took action. It wasn't until more than a couple weeks later that Rudy picked himself back up enough for them to start the journey home (the passing of time wasn't properly conveyed in the anime). Your only inkling to this is the fact that Sylphy is 8 months into her pregnancy. So Rudy and co spent 7-8 months in Rapan, minus around 2 months spent on the road. Roxy and Norn's interaction is a given. Roxy was actually happy with her one night stand (taking advantage of a depressed Rudy) and planned to leave for good after dropping Rudy off. Elinalise and Rudy's decision derailed Roxy's conviction to put down her feelings. She was shocked, yet there's a tinge of happiness that she couldn't deny. But also, fear. Shame. She stepped into that house with a lot of fear and anxiety (as expected) but again, the anime didn't convey that. To you, she might as well just waltzed in like she owned the house and expected a yes from the 1st wife, is it ? Well that was not conveyed. To say she was wavering, would be an understatement. Picture yourself being invited by a married woman you've fallen deeply for, into her house to meet her husband, and she's asking for you to be her 2nd husband. The shame. The fear. As soon as Norn mouthed her off, Roxy didn't say much back and walked away while holding her tears. At that moment not even Rudy could say anything to stop it, because Roxy and Rudy knew they had no place to argue. Once a rejection was made, the two could only be silent and accept it. The one who stopped it was... tada~ the lady of the house herself, who made it clear that she appreciated Norn standing up for her. The complexity of Sylphy's feelings towards Roxy is another can of worms. She was of course saddened by their one night stand. But then there's gratitude, for bringing Rudy back home safe. And for saving Rudy from what is essentially slow sui*ide (unwilling to eat anything). Sylphy was always a woman without a lot of wants. She grew up with the mindset of "It's amazing that I even have the life I have right now." That is not grounds for anyone, nor us the readers to decide what she wants and don't want, but if the character herself has put her feet down and said "I'm okay with this" then we should respect that and not put our own subjective morality inside her mouth. Roxy and Rudy was ready to respect whatever decision Sylphy makes, and it showed in how they delivered their request. It was not a demand, but a plea for forgiveness and permission. The two of them overstepped a line and recognized it as an offense against Sylphy. They came clean, which is still better than a lot of cheating men and their mistresses out there. Would I encourage a guy in real life to take multiple wives ? Heck no. Under 99.999999999% of circumstances, it's a strong no. There will be special cases where people are happy with bigamy, polygamy or polyamory, but those are outstandingly rare cases that should NEVER be used as a reference for the average human.
