A new video from the Autism Family? Made my day! Thanks for the update! I'm an autistic adult and see parts of myself in each of your three boys. Been watching your videos and following your journey for a long time now and finally decided to become a patron. Your channel is truly one of the best autism channels out there and you deserve all the support. Keep up the amazing work. All the best to you and your awesome family! Also how cool that Connor is not only into math, stop-motion animation and playing the piano but also into learning languages now! What can't Connor do?😄 (not to trivialize his struggles with his autism of course, this was more meant as a joke, but it is very impressive!)
It's so good 2 see you all. Hope you have a smooth recovery with the knee. It's great 2 see the boys doing well & growing up. I've gotta say though that Connor is gonna be something amazing, he's honestly gifted in so many things & I love it. I know you all have 2 be super proud of him but also amazed by him. You have a beautiful fam & we hope 2 see you again soon.
What. A. Beautiful. Family. You deal with sooo much~please take one day at a time and enjoy each other. Love between you all, is the only important thing. ❤️ Thank you for sharing!
@@jaimezimmerman1670i got diagnosed with Aspergers at 10 years old in 2001 and loads of medical conditions like asthma apnoea. Cerebral palsy diabetic.
Connor’s getting a lot better at piano now. I would also like to see more footage of Ian playing drums. I’m also a trombone player in 3 ensembles which I enjoy and also my classes just ended and my work integrated learning at goodwill is done which means I have to return to Job Finding Group which is disappointing but at least I have good experience now. Yesterday I also went on a long bike ride around the neighbourhood with my friend who lives really close to me.
I have been watching you guys since my first month of my autism diagnosis last year and you guys have taught me so much about not only myself but autism as a whole. it is so good to see that your whole family is doing great ❤❤
My CRF150R just got fixed...until the Honda Helix cline carb went out, then we got a clone CRF150R clone carb, nope. Throttle cables...not worky. But, here lately my autism is getting more noticeable yet again. And, I've been getting sick. Went to the ER, I have a possible ulcer, few days later, strep from the hospital. But, now my endoscopy is next Monday. I wish that everybody was kinder to special needs kids, unlike at our school, everybody talks about them badly behind their back. Then, you have 5th graders, hate me for whatever reason. Mumbling gibberish and she went on "I do not care". Was not even talking, bet if I had surgery or stayed in the hospital, they would not care and not notice. Be kind folks, you do not exactly know what goes on in peoples minds:). Get better soon!
Hi family. Thanks for the nice video. There is lot happening in the Owen family. Get well soon with you knee, Dad Robert. And Ian have some issues woth his knee. I hope that I had understand well. I must translate it from Dutch to English. Maybe can Connor try to learn Dutch. Maybe. Alistair is doing well. And Mom Britney, good luck with your study. Nice to hear from you. All the best for you all. A big hug from the Netherlands. 🇳🇱😃❤️🇺🇲
I have been doing Special Olympics Track and Field too. Running is fun but the other things on the field I don't really like. Do Conner or Alister do Special Olympics?
Boys are definitely making progress. You, parents, can be proud, especially to your hard work with them 😉. Stay united, calm, joyful, day after day. Good luck!
I’m glad y’all are doing great, for me i felt like 2023 into 2024 have been very difficult for me mentally im still doing alright but not the best i could be feeling. Most of the problem is school i have had negative thoughts on it for years but no matter what people tell me they can’t do anything. It got really bad for me in late 2023 I had started to have bad ocd problems but it’s gotten lots better. But a part of it is that I’m still growing up and still trying to live in this world.
Glad you are back! I'll watch your videos even if they are here and there. They are very comforting for our Nerodivergent family. 🙂 I hope you heal quickly.
Wonderful to hear from you all! All the best for your knee,Rob! And fingers crossed for your exams, Brittney! Say Hi to the kids and enjoy the weekend!
Thanks for the update video. Prayers to you and healing your knees and awesome going to the kids in school and instruments. I hope your test goes well for surgical assistant. Nice video, thank you again for sharing:)
Thats great yall are well! Just had a gig last weekend with a brass band im in and have been getting good at competitive gaming lately and such, oh and working lol. Btw i have been kinda a car person myself, I love mclaren’s but for other cars i love honda. I also do a lot of sim racing nowadays and play racing games in general. My favorite racing game at the moment has to be Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune, its at round1 if yall ever check it out
My son went to trade school while in high school and he really got good at woodwork, electrical work, etc. Hoping he finds a job he likes. He’s a little asocial so I’m trying to help him.
Awesome to get an update on the kids! Happy to see they’re doing so great, amazing how Conner is learning so many languages, and how Ian is doing better on the drums, also awesome to hear that Alistar is getting 100% in school!! Both you and Brittany look great and I’m sorry to hear about u and Ian’s knees, wishing for a speedy recovery!
Thanks for the update guys it's amazing to see how far the boys have come it's incredible that they're able to flourish so well doing what they love! I'm sorry about the knee problems and I hope yall recover from it ❤
I'm so glad you're all doing so well. I'm just curious is Ian still using ambilify or risperidone? I'm a father to a 6 year old autistic boy and he is showing lots of the same behaviours as Ian was when he was younger. As we're in the UK it's taking a long time to go through the process with the NHS to speak to someone who can prescribe such medications - but we're just curious about ians experiences with either ambilift or risperidone. Also, thank you so much for your videos. We as a family have found your videos incredibly helpful and reassuring whilst bringing up an autistic child in the UK. Thank you!
Autistic adult here. I realize that there are likely other autistic adults out there who may have criticized you for "making your kids' disabilities your identity," but I personally admire your involvement in your childrens' unique minds and simultaneously sharing it with us. I truly believe that you are setting your children up for success by not only extensively understanding autism yourself, but helping guide your children using this knowledge. It is unfortunate, but I do believe that the whole 'autism mom' trope largely stems from the fact that most of us lack autism dads. Even though you are a complete stranger to me, I can tell that you are one of the few who deserve that title simply by listening to your kids and comparing them to how I was around their age. Despite my own personal lack of support (I wasn't diagnosed until 31), I am on track to getting a PhD. Continue fostering your childrens' unique brains and I have little doubt that each one of them will have a bright future.
I’m so happy to see you all , I’m sad that cat see you more often. I pray for quick recovery and the boys are just sprouting up and going through there journeys. Love you all and my prayers are for you all always. Yes my son Thomas can play piano too by ear it’s amazing .❤
can you ask your kids for me, how can i be a friend to someone with autism? i don't even know if everyone else wants to be friends with me. but with autistic people i can't even read their body language. im bad at making friends but i want to be there for people who also have trouble.
I’ve missed you guys!!! Thanks for checking in and hey, don’t even worry ! We understand! Life shows up and gets busy!! Just glad you guys are all okay! Love ya ❤
Hi I’m coming back after maybe 1/2 years I remember commenting saying I’m getting my child diagnosed after watching your videos of signs I just want to say thank you for shareing I did get my son assessment done and he does have autism I think he was around 1 when I looked up signs and I found your videos the most realistic videos about stims and signs milestones difference but I always had a feeling but after your videos I know I needed to go get professional help for him he’s only 3 so you helped me not ignore the signs and also I taught if my son has autism and is anything like his boys I would be so happy their so intelligent and polite that I would still be very happy proud mother thank yous so much I know yous just want to help and il always appreciate your videos in helping me ❤️
I wanted to note that having a special interest/hyper fixation isn't a bad thing on its own. I think maybe trying to guide Ian into maybe not getting so upset about the honda/toyota thing could help but being obsessed with it inin of itself isnt a bad thing. Its a good thing for autistic people to have special interest as long as its not harmful to themselves or anyone else. - an autistic person:)
Connor gonna be rich one day for sure. He has a talent learning piano that young is very impressive and his math skills he can be a good accountant! Seems like everyone has improved alot this is the best channel i forgot your kids had autism. Wish yall the best but please post more !
I respect those 3 I see they are improving a lot your great parents I had level 1 autism and I had to learn a lot of things by myself once I reached 13 so I glad those 3 kids are learning
Your kids seem to improve as they get older I have a 5 year old he’s very similar to Connor behavior wise, are all your boys on medication? And what age did they start?
Thanks for the update. Hope the knee heals soon. Looks like everyone is happy. Glad Ian still likes cars. Is he still in to Lambos? I sometimes need to get off my obsession with knowing how high you can tune a string before it breaks on stringed instruments.
Hi. This is not about the subject of this video, but I don't know where to contact people to talk about this. I've notticed that my mother's migraines triggers are similar to my autistic meltdown triggers. My sister and a lot of members in my mother's family has had migraines, I don't suffer from that. I watched the video about migraines posted on the "Herbs with Rosalee" RU-vid channel and started trying that herbal treatment for migraines to see how it affects my meltdowns. I haven't even had time to find if feverfew is making its preventing effect or if I'll need to try the next preventive herb on the list. But for the short time effect, using ginger as prescribed in the video (2 tablespoons of powder in a glass of water when you know the migraine will come, or the meltdown, in my case) is doing miracles at aborting the meltdown. And two tablespoons is not a tasty amount, a sprinkle on your food is not the same. There are more details in the video about when a second dose might be needed. When a meltdown is starting it can be hard even to accept that it is happening and prepare yourself the ginger drink, but if you see it working one time you are more willing to recognize when you need it again. The full treatment explained in the video is a years long project, maybe you won't try the whole thing but just one of its tips. It would be really interesting for me if someone can already tell me, or after some time after having tried something from the video if you have any experience relating autism, migraines and/or herbs.
Been thinking about you guys for weeks now! We are in a similar boat with our kiddos aging fast and our one son is super into languages as well. Our oldest gets very loyal and hyperfixated on animal topics. Most days feel like such a whirlwind. It’s very hard. Plz keep making content, I’ve never related more to another autism family than I have to your family. ♡
Make sure they see what happened to Nidal Wonder when he had an accident on his scooter without wearing a helmet. That would encourage anyone to wear their helmet.
Hi happy to hear about the update glad everything going well with your family I am praying for you Rob that you have a speedy recovery from your knee surgery. I will pray as well that Ian's knee gets better too, I am happy to hear about all the updates and the progress that's going on you all take care. Love your Channal and thanks for what you all do.
@@AutismFamilyChannelI apologize for not getting back sooner! Synesthesia means the senses are connected. Like a sensory crossover or like “crossed wires”in the brain because it activates two or more senses when usually only one sense is activated. So for example synesthetes associate things with color. The most common forms are seeing color and/or shapes when listening to music and associating color with letters & numbers. But there are also other forms like getting a taste in your mouth when hearing sound or seeing words or shapes. There’s also something called mirror-touch synesthesia which means that if the synesthete sees somebody else get slapped in the face, the synesthete will literally feel that pain in their own face. If I remember correctly, literally any sense can be combined with another sense and there are so many different forms of synesthesia that I probably don’t even know of. I read that synesthesia is common in neurodivergent people so I thought it would be interesting if one of the boys experiences it ;)
