It definitely makes life a lot easier having someone to call on for help or watch after things if I need to be away for a bit. Hope all is well in Gadsden
I worked with my my brother [n his feed handling and milking equipment business................ A lot of Chicken houses Hog Parlors and Dairys used that Shaftless auger and flat feeder chain..... Now that I think about it that was 40 years ago.....................
This is the repair I hate the most. We used to have these break all the time. We figured out if we lengthen the auger they stopped breaking. You can hardly hear the auger running when empty now. Used to it would sound like the pipe was gonna fly apart. I also use a crowbar wedged in the housing below the bin along with the vicegrips to help lock the auger down. We've had one slip before just using the vice grips.
Thanks for the tip! We have one that broke a couple times in a short amount of time. It just floats now on the end and doesn’t have a bearing. So far it works great. All the others still have the bearing but I may go a little longer next time I have one break
How much do you guys extend it? Also what rpm does your motor run. We're having the same issue with breaks and the pipe sounds like it's gonna break and knock someone down😅😅. We don't have the bottom bearing and our Auger is just spinning inside the PVC pipe.
