Testing out how secure budget bike chain locks really are. In particular, we are testing out and review the amazon best seller titanker chain lock in 6, 8, and 10mm thicknesses. The tool of choice is the angle grinder.

The funny thing is a good set of bolt cutters would be quieter and faster. LOL I was a construction worker for more than a decade, I could pull that signpost right out of the ground by hand. Just give it a good wiggle.😂

cut the sign post and then the alarm to disable it, bike would be gone quick. You need a bike registry sticker on it and a GPS tracker to give yourself a fighting chance of catching the thief yourself. I recommend 529 garage and snik bikes GPS tracker.

True, i didn’t cover trackers and insurance in this video but they are great additions.

The rule is if you don't have gps then put the gps sticker otherwise you just ruin your chances to recover it they can put it in a garage, near a jammer or put it in a camion with a faraday cage inside
@jonasan-san
@jonasan-san 10 месяцев назад
@@Fedreal_Bureau_Of_Investigaton I'm highly against advertising you have a tracker on the bike, it serves less purpose than the registry sticker and simply lets a thief know how to better steal it. Don't like air tags for the same reason. I also forgot to mention how effective simply covering the bike is cause a thief doesn't know what they're messing with they are more inclined to move on.
@jonasan-san
@jonasan-san 10 месяцев назад
Also forgot to add if you're willing to carry around a chain you should get one big enough to fit around a telephone pole cause no thief is cutting through that obviously.

I've seen the hiplock teardown videos and it's quite resistant however i think the weak link is that chain, and if it's so much resistant too, keep in mind that it may be easier to cut the place you attached it to. What about the battery? Do you have a key or something? That's 200 bucks easy. I have a similiar alarm too and i don't think it even uses rolling codes so if my attacker is determined is easy to disable by replicating. I'd love to hack into that alarm and make it send a notification to my phone when it moves because i'm usually far away and it's not hearable So.. the best solution? hide an airtag, cheap effective and it can work in bad coverage areas too. Apple by tracking has finally made a useful device lol

I'd love to see the lock picking lawyer take a crack at those key holes. Just as an exercise of course. Are the sparks not a giveaway that someone is stealing whatever is locked up? Granted, if I am walking along and I see those sparks, what am I to do? Pictures and video, ok. And no police dept is gonna come running to a robbery in progress when your bike is gonna be gone soon. As you said, no system is perfect. I'd be so worried if I locked my stuff up and then went away. Oh, one more thing: Thank you, thank you for not playing any music while you were speaking. Music during the grinding, ok. I wish more YT hosts would follow your lead.

The Hiplok D-1000 probably requires 3+ discs to cut, so pretty safe, but I'd like to see what happens with that chain (or ring). The Altor SAF (get it?) lock is the gold standard, but $300.
@714mattman
@714mattman 10 месяцев назад
The Hiplok D lock that he is using is not the D1000, but the DX. From all the testing I have seen the Litelok X3 and Hiplok D1000 are pretty nearly just as good as the Altor SAF and way more useable. A better noose chain is the Hiplok XL 14mm hardened steel chain. That is the minimum thickness chain I would trust. Pragmasis makes a better noose chain at 16mm thick, but it is not available in the US. You have to pay way too much just for the international shipping and import duties for it to be worth the cost.

Can u show me how u attach the alarm lock to the chain
@ejonesss
@ejonesss 10 месяцев назад
the alarm is great but it uses a wireless keyfob to activate and anyone with the right frequencies should be able to disarm the alarm so i hope the maker realizes that and fixes it in future versions.
@rochekml

Best setup would be double litelok X1 and invoxia gps tracker, 450$ setup but your thief will need at least 2 grinder disc and maybe a second battery, lift the bike in a truck and then he have to find your tracker before you find him. Also in comments people are mistaken about the hiplok dlock, its not the D1000, this one on the video is way weaker.

Why would you leave amazon links to locks that failed in under 15 seconds? Why promote them when they clearly don't do the job? Now leaving links to your current lock setup, awesome, it actually helps people out.

If a theif doesn't know about the weak spot you disclosed on the Titanker locks, they would probably not take the time to rip off the nylon sleeve and look for one. So they'd probably make two cuts. Either way it'll take more than twice as long as your time.

I have a $100 chain with a $250 lock which even pros can't lockpick. Both require 3 carbide blades to even cut all the way through. And Ramset gun can't even work on the lock The only way is to cut it.

Never seen unpickable bike locks, your best option in my opinion is double bit serrature or circular. Both pickable but you need specific tools
@Bigdog1787
@Bigdog1787 10 месяцев назад
Stanley Hardware S828-160 CD8820 Shrouded Hardened Steel Padlock is the lock and there are things such as unpickable you make one mistake picking this lock it shoots a pin out and then no one can pick it even lockpicking lawyer tried and failed. To me it's the safest lock one can't be picked unless you somehow can pick a lock without failing which I don't even know the best of the best can do. Also the Ramset gun can't work on this specific lock.
@Bigdog1787

For the chain I use Pewag security chain comes with a lock which I do not use. 3/8" diameter chain. Both these items used to be on Amazon but they no longer available you can still find good chains don't need this specific one just need a thick enough one and no less than a hardened steel. The lock though I don't think anyone should go with anything less if you want true protection.

@@Bigdog1787 A friend had a Harley, secured with hardened chain and hardened lock, inside his garage, locked to concrete pillar... the thieves used liquid nitrogen to freeze the hardened lock/chain and shattered them with sharp hammer blow. They were removing the bike from the garage when the police arrived...

I have the same type of chain but the one i purchased is like 5 foot long , I prefer to use the chain around the bike and then the object to lock it to . Then i have 2 (YES 2) D-Locks , one for each wheel . Then i have a lock for my seat so noone can steal my seat . I tried to find a seat post bracket without quick release but unfortunantly that is a no go....so as i run the main chain i slip a cable in the middle of it so my seat cannot be stolen ..... I know , you are gonna ask em where i live , well i live not far from you in the good ole state of NJ , in the Woodbridge area....... I don't give a shit where you live there are a$$holes everywhere ! I believe if you don't make it easy for them to steal it or even move it then they wont phuk with your stuff !!!
