Last year when Exols brought their lightstick ver.2 (I forgot what event) and they connected it with the Staff, They Turn on their lightstick and change colors for the groups who are performing and when it was Exo’s performance it became a black ocean and also you can’t hear any fanchants during the live broadcast because they adjust it but in fancam the fanchants is really loud and also only few exols who brought their lightstck ver 1(Not bluethooth) and to the exols who have ver. 2 they used their phones so that exo don’t have a black ocean and I think that is why now Exols don’t listen and brought their own lightstick because you don’t know if you can trust the staff of the even or not!!!! sorry for my english*

The prerecorded show was on the 24th... I think they had time slots so when EXO performed love shot, EXO-Ls were there with the lightsticks, same as when BTS performed their medleys, Twice and NCT as well. During these performances, you'd see the lightsticks were really visible and everybody has them. On the other hand, During the live part of the show on the 25th, light sticks were not allowed making everywhere look a little dark

actually i want to talk about term "black ocean" a little bit well yes "black ocean" is when other fandoms turn off their lightsticks during perfomance of some group *BUT* "black ocean" is *an organized boycott* not just when there's too dark or not enough lightsticks some fans often turn off their lighsticks during other artists' performances to save battery that's okay they don't have to support everyone, it doesn't means they are being disrespectful it almost makes me mad how people just throw "black ocean" everywhere after almost every concert with variety artists just remember that performance of snsd at dream concert. that was boycott against snsd by some united fandoms, during their performance audience become silent, turned off their lightsticks, some people even shouted out "wonder girls" *this* is black ocean and not that shit organizers of shows keep doing

*LONG READ AHEAD* i was there that night and yes your explanation was spot on. pretty much half the show was pre-recorded, most music shows does this (even the weekly ones for comebacks and stuff). this is always done so the next stages can be prepared and flow nicely, also so that the fans of the artists can attend and see only them. last year’s SBS Gayo Daejun was the same, however during the pre-recorded parts, only the pre-recording was played on the screen or even at times, the audience were left in complete darkness (i am talking about what the ppl in the arena see, not what is aired). this received major backlash and hence this year, all artists still performed (either parts or whole of their performance) while the pre-recording played (again, the pre-recordings are the ones that are aired). light sticks were technically not allowed but obviously fans still brought their own (including me lol oops sorry #StanNCT) so all the light you see in the crowd is that wristband thing apart from the artists’ own lightsticks that their fans brought (and yea fans only turn them on while their groups come out). so nah there was no black ocean, which is actually why SBS provided those wrist lights in the first place, so it would look nice with no black ocean.

I read it from someone who came to the concert. She uploaded fancams on her stories and someone asked abt this black ocean case and they said what was aired on TV were like random prerecorded and live. So if you suddenly saw some fans of a certain group turned their lightstick on but then you didn't see any at some scenes, it is because it was prerecorded. Let me give you an example. The whole performance of NCT was prerecorded few days before. So I saw many NCTzens' lightsticks turned on. But when I saw the fancam, there were barely any of the lightsticks. I mean, they were placed randomly and not look as organized as during prerecording. My NCTzen friend came to but she sat between other fandoms so it wasnt arranged and they only supossed to use their bracelets. Some fans brought in their lightsticks but thats actually not allowed. Now, I'm going to talk abt EXO performance. I think that one with Kai solo performance was prerecorded. Like OBVIOUSLY. Cuz the lightsticks are more arranged and the position of where NCTzens sat where the same position of where EXO-Ls sat. So it was prerecorded. Now, let's talk about the pic provided in the video. It was apparently not the prerecorded part. Because if it was prerecorded part, the lightsticks will likely turned on perfectly. *_BUT WHY DO THAT FANDOM HAD THEIR LIGHTSTICKS ON?_* I know well that this issue is talking about EXO-L allegedly did black ocean for other artist and other fandom apparently turned on their lightsticks. From what I see, EXO-Ls didn't bring their ls in and apparently SBS bracelets werent turned on properly so the black ocean happened. But how did only that fandom turned on their lightsticks? This is like personal choice. Lightsticks were prohibited to bring in during the *live* broadcast so other fandoms(who brought their lightsticks secretly) probably turned off their lightsticks since their bracelet didn't work. That's all what I can say from this issue. My friend didn't bring her lightstick too. And other people from other fandom didnt bring their too. But there are also people who brought their ls in. So the black ocean happened due to SBS' bracelets error.

I'm still waiting for SBS to upload Tiger Jk and Tasha's performance. And the tweet you quoted, Tiger Jk was being thankful to BTS stans for using the lighsticks to cheer them and at same time, shady with those who took part in the black ocean. He made a reference for purple (?)...that is smth related to LOVE in their fandom. I'm sorry, idk that much 😭 but I'm still happy that their korean fans didn't join the black ocean 👏🏾

idk what went on but Tiger Jk himself tweeted out that he got a black ocean and that armys were the only ones (or at least were the vast majority) who kept the lights on. From what i know from twt it wasn't the army lightstick bc multiple fandoms have said armys didn't bring theirs rather that we kept our bracelets on? i don't think sbs would simply turn off almost everyone's lights but armys for tigerjk's performance bc we ait his personal fandom and that would make zero sense, so thus far im thinking people only turned their bracelets on for their faves [but i did hear from other fahdoms on twt that kArmys kept theirs on}

I was there. The ground seating were reserved for foreign tourists and the elevated seats were allocated to each fan club. Most of the people sitting at ground seats only knew about the popular groups. When there’s no one who know about you and your fan club didn’t manage to get enough seats then it’s awkward. But I didn’t notice the black ocean, the light effects were great, just people were sitting there awkwardly waiting for their favorite group to perform.

Let me spill our point (as a once) Yes, lightsticks weren't allowed during performances. So SBS gave wristbands that are controlled by staffs. But when twice is performing there is a black ocean. Meaning wristbands is not on. So onces turned their lightsticks on. To show support. But when BP is performing (and other group as well) the wristbands is on. And guess what... onces' lightsticks is still on. Yes lightsticks aren't a big deal but those lightsticks and wristbands symbolizes support. The question is why sbs did not turn on those wristbands during twices's

I agree with Tiger Jk Black Oceans to me are peace cause then no one would fight about “SBS gave this fandom more seats than this other fandom” so i loved the initiative of not allowing lightsticks and giving the attendants the light wristband. I think Kpop needs to be more reserved when it comes to this lightsticks should only be taken to Music Shows and concerts of the artists but never to this type of events to avoid this type of controversies

Light sticks werent allowed but alot of fans have been able to sneak it in. At first, Onces were reluctant to bring out the candy bongs but when they noticed the wristbands were turned off by SBS just before Twice's live performance they turned it on for Twice. Sam (a legendary Once) even said Dahyun was so glad to see his candy bong and even pointed it out so many times to the members (the amount of candy bongs must have been scarce or it might be just a common occurence whenever the members would look for Onces in the crowd) . Also, K-Onces are being attacked right now because they were loud and manly (like in the army) because alot of Onces present there were men (as if girls dont scream and make screeching sounds for their Oppas..hypocrites!) There were women also but they were just outnumbered. But tell you what! *I'AM PROUD OF THOSE MEN* because they have turned on their lightsticks for Twice even though they were scared of getting caught and they *also* cheered for other artists! I have so much respect for K-Onces. Sana and the rest of the members have pointed it out time and time again that they are proud of Onces cheering for other artists. (they apparently sees everything even in backstage. Haha)
