How SEAL Team Took Down Osama bin Laden (Minute by Minute) 

The fact that the first helicopter crash landed and managed to do it silently enough to not alert the security is amazing!

The dog, "Cairo" was previously shot on another counter-terrorism operation. He was medivac'd out and it was expected he would die. He recovered, and Neptune Spear was his first mission after his recovery.

It's interesting that a group of SEALs, some of the smartest highly trained people on the planet, can go into a small room and come out with different stories.

I remember being upstairs doing homework when suddenly I heard my dad shout “Get down here everyone, you’re gonna want to see this!” My whole family went running into the living room wondering why my dad was freaking out over a White House address on TV that was just showing an empty podium. We asked what had happened and with the most dead serious look on his face he said “It’s looking like they might have killed bin Laden” and I just stood there in shock. A few seconds later Obama was on TV confirming the news. We lived in New Jersey when 9/11 happened and my mother started to cry when we learned they had really killed him. People in our neighborhood were banging pots and pans, setting off fireworks, and cheering. Part of me felt bad for being happy about someone dying but another part just felt huge relief. I feel lucky to have gotten to witness such a historic event.

Those 15 minutes of actually storming the compound and finding him probably did not feel like 15 minutes at all, the amount of stress those Seals must've dealt with and the adrenaline they might've felt

The pilot of the down Blackhawk must be said, IS the unsung hero here. Should that landing created a stir, the ENTIRE operation would have ended differently.

Kudos to the Navy seals for carrying out such intricate mission with so much precision. Was a little girl when got this news that he was killed still get chills listening to this flawless mission

Crazy to be from Pakistan, but being born and living in the U.S your whole life. The amount of hate you hear from both sides about each other is absolutely insane, and hope no one goes through what I did. No matter which country I was in as a child, growing up during this time, I was completely hated either way.

Mortally wounded doesn’t mean an enemy is neutralised. You can still do a lot of damage before a fatal wound kills you.

my brain can't quite comprehend how it was less than 10 years between 9/11 and his killing. it's now been over 10 years since then, it just feels so crazy to think that amount of time has passed since then, it was really a monumental event

The reason why the helicopter crashed was because during their mock up training in Virginia Beach, they used Chain linked fences to represent the concrete wall around the compound. The chain fence ALLOWED the helicopter to keep its lift BUT the concrete wall didn't allow the air under the helicopter to escape through the wall so the helicopter lost its lift and had to crash

I remember watching TV that night with my family when Scroll breaking news came on. I remember it saying that Obama is going to speak on matters of national security. I kid you, not my entire family looked at other each wondering if something happened. My dad out of nowhere said “Huh I wonder if we got Bin Laden” and about a few hours later he was right.

"Master Chief? You mind telling me what you are doing on SEAL team 6?" "Sir, finishing this fight."

Thank you for covering the disposal of the body! (Weirdest non-satirical comment I've ever made.) I had only heard the brief disclosure that he had been disposed at sea and then conspiracy theories that followed. But understanding how no country wanted to have a grave extremist would flock to, attempting to respect some level of respect to his religion to avoid enflaming his followers further with cremation, and therefore having a small ceremony disposing the body into the sea outside his home country makes a lot of sense.

I remember when the announcement aired on TV. People in my neighborhood were yelling out their windows chanting "USA!USA!"

This is like the fifth variation I’ve heard of the story so far after re-watching interviews with the participants.

The fact that there’s still aspects of this operation that no one can confirm with 100% accuracy and authenticity of how it happened or who did what is actually a very good thing. It means the most sensitive aspects really were executed as planned.

This is Genuinely one of the most intricate and fascinating seal operations ive ever seen

It's just weird to think that this all happened in my lifetime when I must have been in First grade at the very least, and I wouldn't of been any the wiser. I feel like this kind of stuff usually only happens decades before I was born. It especially gets confusing when I hear about the whole harddrive rabbithole. I am too used to learning about stories from decades before I was born. But this was all happening under my nose and I wouldn't of really known about it because I was just a kid in the beginning stages of elementary school.

Navy SEALs: *Crash helicopter* Guards: "must have been the wind"

Helicopter pilot here..Vortex ring state is not caused by weather…It’s caused by a rapid decent with little to no airspeed while under power..The downwash of the rotors starts to get counteracted by the air coming from below by the rapid descent causing vortices to form on the root of the blade moving towards the tip. Vortices destroy lift and regardless of how much power you are pulling you just fall through your own rotor wash...At higher altitudes this can happen fast so a rapid descent with slow forward speeds VRS can form rapidly. Only way to fix it is to get air to flow laterally across the disk but gaining airspeed or doing the Vuichard method ( laterally moving to the side). So coming in fast and flaring aggressively and pulling max power at high altitude probably caused the VRS.

I still remember it clear as day the way I found out I was watching John cena defend his title in I think it was at extreme rules afterwards he stood on top ofthe announce table and said we got him. I had goosebumps.

"Never captured a image of him coming in or out of the building" Thats wrong. One of the key pieces of information came from photos of him walking in his garden. They used this information with the time, sun and shadow to find his hight and reinforce the idea that its O.B.

For me, the most awesome moment of this story was told by Owen himself! He said that while flying to the compound, some of the Seals were sleeping! Ice cold in their veins!

I went to a Navy Seal museum in Florida and they had a whole entire description on this operation. The U.S. government made an entire replica of Osama bin Laden's compound for the Navy Seals to train in for any given circumstance.

Respect to the people that crashed the helicopter that no one heard.

I know most of y’all won’t care but one of my old friends family lived in the area when the seals breached his house. He told me stories that were passed down to him of the houses windows breaking and his grandfathers eardrums bursting. Pretty crazy that this happened.

I'm a Brit. I used to teach English to Pakistani women on a community scheme in the north of England. In 2010, one of my students had to go back to Pakistan, to Abbottabad, where her family were from, to attend a wedding. I had never heard of the place so I asked her what it was like there. She said it was nice, her family were well-connected business people; they had built a palatial house with large grounds, and then she said, 'One of our neighbours could be Osama Bin Laden'. 'That threw me but I said, 'I don't suppose so - he won't be somewhere like that, near ordinary people - he'll be hiding in the hills somewhere.' She never came back to England, and I heard the wedding was hers (she thought it was a cousin's). The rest, as they say, is history.

You got vortex ring state wrong. It’s actually when a helicopter gets into its own vortices and those vortices forces the helicopter into the ground. To get out of it u go forward back or either side :) I’m an instructor. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS ❤️

I still can't wrap my head around how they modified those helicopters to make it super quiet and also how no one in the compound noticed the crash.
