I remember (1992)when I had a 1yr old and a new born (post natal depression)&my mum in remission , that my anxiety agoraphobia started. We needed a larger home. When viewing a property My mum made it very clear to me that my "problems" wouldn't disappear with the move. She had life experience. Didn't know about PDP back then. Even now I sometimes think maybe a big change is what's needed to shift my life but deep down I know thats not true. Truly believe my PDP is my brain's way of telling me it's time to put me first. Getting there. Great video.

I admire your courage. It takes a lot of stamina to look after 2 babies only 12 months apart. And a mum with health issues. Sending love ❤️ and hugs 🫂 your way. Bless you.

@@SusieV59thank you for your kind words. Sadly my mum only had a few years with her grandchildren. Her demise was the start of my PDP. Understandable but back then I had to just get on with it, body can only take so much. They're now 32/33! X

Many years ago, I moved from the East Coast to the West Coast. I didn't know about any of this MB stuff. I took all my problems with me. Had to learn healing was an inside job not matter where I lived.

Same here! I had convinced myself that moving from busy chaotic New York to chill scenic beautiful seattle would cure all my problems. Ha! Ended up moving back a year later bc I was an anxious mess and missed my family. Like you said, we took our problems with us.

I see it a little different. I think the two are not easy to separate. When you start doing mindbody healing, you are confronted with all of your coping mechanisms to stay on top of very challenging situations.. You need to take some decisions to lower your stress levels. The most honest therapist I encountered was the one that told me : I’m not gonna treat and ask your money if you don’t deal with the overwhelming stress factors in your life. Then therapy is just a band aid. I agree that moving abroad is not the solution too. You take your grief, your sadness, your symptoms to another environment and still have to do the recovery work to get better. I followed my husband abroad because I felt responsible for making him happy too.. and my kids and father went no contact for a couple years then.. I love living here, I’m happy here but I can be happy any place when I’m happy within myself ❤ Just my take on it, not THE truth! Have a lovely day Dan and everyone ❤

Inge Have to ever worked with a trauma therapist? I know it’s hard to find a good one. Look up Peter Levine he is a trauma expert and has written a no of books on releasing trauma. He says trauma can be from child trauma, accidents, life traumas etc. he has worked with traumatised soldiers. You may know about him , but just in case. He is on RU-vid. Love and best wishes Lily ❤️🌺💕 and the two kittens 🐈‍⬛ 😽

Hi Inge, I hope I wasn't misunderstanding Dan's message. He was talking about separating TMS/PDP and life's issues and dealing with them individually so as not to feel overwhelmed. If I have misunderstood the message I am open to correction. Have a wonderful day.❤

I agree... 👏👏👏 Sometimes life situations trigger things which can develop into TMS/PDP.. I think there's always a starting point to these things... Moving abroad and completely changing your life (- which I have also done in past) takes courage and an inner resilience and strength - so you should be proud of yourself for following your heart... ❤❤❤

I feel this way with my job. Also feel this way with feeling alone. If I can’t shift these things will ever get better. But I know when I’m not in pain or dealing with Lyme/covid effects I’d be content and happy for the most part.

My son is in psychosis and feels that if he flees the family home he will solve the autism/anxiety/psychosis symptoms. Practitioners encourage his ‘solution’. Yes, independence is an excellent thing but the separation of thoughts as discussed here is crucial. Your videos are wonderful 😊

I think I resonate the most with the evaluation of your life overally. I really also liked your video - What is not working for you in your life (or something along these lines) and I think its important that there are not some crucial changes, that need to be made in our life regardless tms - I think that its also a little paradoxical - don't do it because of the tms but it may actually help a lot.

Dan, this video is very timely for me. I have recently started a new job which I am not enjoying, mostly because it is not a great fit for my personality and requires me to be extremely politically correct and behave in a way that is quite frankly just fake. Since starting this job, TMS has been very severe for me as well as catching lots of colds etc. despite knowing that there is no real danger, my brain seems to be forcing me to evaluate the suitability of the role by giving me all these symptoms. Perhaps the role is just outside of my comfort zone and I need to be okay with expanding my scope and learning new ways of speaking and behaving, or perhaps the job really isn’t for me and the symptoms will keep coming until I make a change? Because my symptoms always seem to be a direct response to stress, I’m not sure if I can completely seperate the life stressor from the symptoms..

Dan I need your help. I was supposed to be starting my new job which was my dream job but my TMS got so bad I had to go on medical hold. I feel like I won’t be able to cope working full time with these pains. I know the change will be stressful as it’s a commute and early hours to train. I struggle working part time now so what shall I do x please give me your guidance
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou 4 месяца назад
Claire - you are looking for a strategy assuming and predicting that you will not get better. The story you are telling yourself is that you have no influence over the pain and that it will be there for the forseeable future. How much fear was there leading up to this job starting? And did the symptoms get worse and worse as it drew near? If yes, that's perceived danger in action. Safety is the solution. Focus on ending the pain so that you can do what you want. Consider the group coaching if you want some more help on this. PainFreeYouGroup.com

Dan, what if you have a emotional detached husband and a 32-year-old son still living here with a failure to launch. Also, both are very disrespectful. I feel like I have to leave or I won’t get better. I did apply for a part-time job so that I won’t be here. I found a neurologist who cured himself with mind-body techniques that I can get better but I have to separate TMS from the life stresses. If I can’t do that, then leaving may be an option.
