Imagine creating an artificial electroreceptor that will convert all those naturally emitted electrical signals into visible light displayed on a monitor. How will the world look like?
I'm so incredibly jealous of your shark dive, they're amazing creatures and I wish we knew more about them. I'd love to understand they're social structure and just what's going on in their heads, I think they're more intelligent and capable of emotion than people believe
0:18 "...there's a sixth sense that's practically invisible. No, it's not the Force.....It's uncanny ability to sense disturbances in electrical currents" Electricity is a flow of electrons, a difference of electrons higher in one area flowing to another. The amount of electrons causes a flow, which causes a disturbance. This also can create an electromagnetic force. Sooo, flowing electrons could be considered a disturbance of the electron force. aka The Force!!!!
Awesome video! I noticed that he said humans have 5 senses, however those are only the 5 basic ones. Would love to see a video cover the less well-known senses once!
Yeah, that's the BS I was expecting. Thankfully you'll never see that on Seeker. You'll have to visit some looney esoteric channel for that sort of thing. A thousand times in your life somebody was watching you, and you noticed nothing. If what you're talking about was a sense, that couldn't happen. The times when you have that feeling are situationaly driven. Psychology understands pretty well why it happens. When you look up and somebody is watching you, that's memorable, otherwise it isn't and you forget it ever happened. That's all there is to it.
@@Cheodo True, the math is similar, but the terminology is clear. Aerodynamic: the motion of air vs. Hydrodynamic: motion of a liquid. Including the drag caused by moving through either. The difference is that aerodynamics does not account for gravity effects.
We desperately need something here in the Salish sea as four of the 9 recent Orca deaths were found on post Mortem to be impacts with propellers. Also would a whales tale produce cavitation bubbles? Do any underwater creatures utilize cavitation bubbles ? I recall certain spiders(?), will carry an air bubble to their underwater abode.....cavitation really intrigues me - like to hear more! Thanks
Absolutely great video and I love you rant about how Sharks are beautiful creatures. They really do get a bad rap. Please bring more awareness on how Great whites are endangered
Great Vid. I love sharks. I would agree that the movie Jaws is responsible for a lot of people's fear. A giant intelligent killer shark is scarier and more believable than a giant killer spider. Sharks are remarkable. Just don't mess with them
can you please make a video about spiders? they're absolutely amazing and so misunderstood. also a video about snakes and reptiles too. they're absolutely incredible animals as well, and they don't deserve the bad reputation so many of them have.
I heard about that research to overwhelm sharks electroreceptors to repel them when I was kid, they want to arm planes and boats with something they can use in case of a crash or sinking to protect survivors from shark attacks.
Great video!! Question. So what is really the difference between the ampullae and the lateral line (pressure/sound) in combo with their hearing? Cuz don’t they do the same thing? Or is it just different ways to tackle different scenarios etc? Cuz I find it a big confusing telling their functions apart?
Picture a fish giving off electric currents, because we all do that of course. Yeah, some of us are just gas gennies puttering along on our last fumes while others (we shall not point fingers) seem to be nuclear power stations.
They are beautiful majestic on how they got there they are wild. but they are strong and big but also we are not in our element they are in their element.
But where is part that you explain HOW much electric field a normal fish or human causes? The sharks' reception might be very sharp, but how does it matter if the disturbances as way smaller still? Reason why the tiger sharks bumped into you?
Sit down behind a table. Put a water bottle on the table. Close your eyes and reach out for it. There you go... sixth sense. Now drink from the bottle. Do you feel the water go to your stomach? Seventh sense. If you found a new sense it will be .. 34th or something sense.
