I can tell you all for free, no matter the office politics you play, if there is someone in management that sees you as a threat, or does not like you or has some bias towards you as a black person, your office politics won't matter, especially if this person is sitting at the head of business decision. There are subtle ways they will try to frustrate you, this could even be how they allocate you to projects or not celebrating your achievements. It all depends on the culture and team structure.

Office Politics is key. I agree with all that you said. Don’t have a mindset that “All of them are racist, I’m just here to do my job” Give grace to these people and see people for who they are. It helps in how you relate with them on a professional level and some of them are really genuine. Also, emotional intelligence within the office space and how to handle interpersonal relationships is key. Pray for the spirit of discernment to know when and what to say at the right time. And give yourself grace as well, Don’t be too hard on yourself when mistakes happen. The ability to overgrow that mistake is the real koko.

Thank you for your take on office relationship building. My take is that there should be a balance with everything. First and foremost, one’s work ethics and attitude to work is the priority. If you do a great job, no one will be able to use a bad work review to get you out of a job. Secondly, it is your demeanour towards others, it is never possible to get on with everybody in any particular group, as there is such a thing called personality. There are some people that just will not get along, no matter what, due to a difference in personalities or interest. I believe that once you do your best to be polite and open to everyone as a whole, you will be ok. There is such a thing as being introverted, I am generally not one that loves social activities by nature, as it tires me out, unless it is an activity that genuinely enjoy, so I personally would not go out of my way to attend activities outside work that I do not care for. I think just being genuine, minding one’s business and having a general great attitude is the key.

Been a subscriber for a while, never made comments in the past, but just had to reply to this, as I have had a similar experience very recently of working in a very toxic office. But because of my attitude to putting out the highest standard of work and keeping a professional (having boundaries in place, not indulging in office gossip, not encouraging or facilitating discussions on mine and any other person's personal business and not attending social events), but friendly disposition, I was able to get on with it, till I gave my notice in and left. I personally feel like too much interaction out of office hours is just a recipe for disaster in the long run, plus I am really not the most social person anyway, it makes it super easy for me to decline such invites😊 Keep up the good work my brother. Really appreciate the effort, time and information you impart in your videos.

Relationship is key. Am the only black in the company. Me and my line manager are like brothers. Please dont do eye service but build a mutual relationship.

I have issues with my manager always talking rudely to only me but my colleagues were behind my back because I am very cool with all of them and lo and Behold the manager had to apologise to me. Relationship is very important. I'm the only Black as well

Daniel are there success stories in the UK that you can share? Your story line is all about challenges and problems etc. Are there positive testimonies you can share? Happy moments do count as insipration to many abroad and the potential ones.

@@DanielJesuloba I did watch the video. The theme is that she 'almost'. It would be of interest to have success stories aside too. I love your content. Moreover, It should capture the bright side aside from the usual challenges. It would be ideal that the brighter side of the stories shared captivates the audience than the usual challenges that come afterwards. Your headlines at times looks grime and scary. Add abit of spices to have a good content that is interactive. Outdoor content would an addition aside from the usual formal office set up and the car set up. It would be also good to add others who would share their stories with you in the video as a way of encouraging the audience at a one on one level. Two heads are better than one. My Take.
