Applying REA does not necessarily increase your chances. The admit rates are higher, but it is because the pool of applicants tends to be more competitive! My opinion is that applying REA is a great idea only if 1) it is definitely the school you want to attend and 2) you are able to have all your application materials & essays perfected by the deadline. Then if you get in, you won't need to submit any other applications!
Hi, I’m a kid with high 85%-90% marks, and a decent amount of extra curricular activities. I have a way with words and humour when writing essays, which I think helps as well. would really like to be accepted into a good quality university, but I was wondering if my marks are too low. Should I apply this year or take a gap year, and in said gap year, volunteer with certain fundraising organizations and maybe create my own business. Would this help my chances, even with a lower gpa than others looking to be accepted? Thank you for the video by the way. Very helpful!
the admission officers have kind of like phases when going through your application. the first phase is where they check your transcripts, they can rule you out from the poll by that. So actually ramping up your ecs won't help unless you elucidate the reason behind your below-average marks, so they don't do so. My percentage is 90.5% as well, much like you. I'm aiming for top tier colleges either. If you don't mind, can you share your extracurriculars with me? maybe I can rate them and give you some an advice that may help you
It's all a holistic process so it's hard to tell! While there are benchmarks for certain schools, you can make up for weaker parts of your app by strengthening other parts. The decision is up to you, but don't let doubt hold you back!
haven’t watched the vid yet but what would you say to someone who wants to get into a top school with outstanding extracurriculars (prestigious competitions/programs) but below average grades (3.6 unweighted, some Bs and Cs, but mostly AP classes)? if writing skill is needed anywhere, i’ve got that
