Today, we are answering the question of How Should Cowboy Boots Fit?
Cowboy boots are unique in the way they fit into your foot. They are supposed to slip on your heels a little bit. Depending on the toe style they should have a little more room for the toes.
Our video will walk you through how they should fit. If you enjoy this, we encourage you to like the video and subscribe for more content. Also, we love comments so please let us know your thoughts.
Every boot is different and they all fit a little differently. The most important thing is that in the widest part of your foot it needs to feel like a nice handshake. Not too loose and not too tight.
We hope you have enjoyed the video and look forward to seeing you again! Don't forget to share the channel with other people.

I've heard several people explain, verbally, how a boot should fit but your demonstration with cuttaway boot and point by point explanation drove the message home. Thank you!

Im from Sweden and Ill tell you I miss people like you who know their trade. I tried asking a couple of people some of these things you talk about in your videos before I stumbled here and they couldn't answer much of anything. Even in some more expensive shops. Good fortune to you!

I appreciate the way this dude actually expands on the little nuances of boot fit. I ordered two pair of the same boot online, 1/2 size difference, and BOTH pairs are snug across instep, and slip a little in the heel.... There's a LOT of arbitrary measurement lingo with boot fit such as "snug, a little, firm, not too too loose not too tight, etc. Although there's some of that here, it is so obvious that this man knows what hes talking about, and isn't just copying what a web page said. Coupling that with the cutaway demonstrations makes this the most useful video I've found on the subject so far.

For me a boot should be tight before break in. Some of the best boots I own almost ate my feet before they were broke in. Treat your boots like you treat your saddle, that's what I was taught. Neetsfoot oil is a critical break in aid, as well as heat and wearing the boot.

Great information. I need your opinion. I wear a 10 D in red wing work boots so I bought the same size in cowboy boots. The fit was so tight it was uncomfortable & felt like my toes were being pushed together & I had no heel slip. I went up a size to 10 EE, they fit snug & have heel slip. My question is after a week of wearing them they have loosened up a little bit. Not to the point that they fall off my feet but they don't feel as snug as when they were new. Is that normal or should I have stuck with the smaller width boot? I have also learned that my right foot and my left foot are a little bit different in size & breaks in boots differently. Thanks

Hey man, same story here. I had trouble making the call between 2 pairs. I personally am not a fan on the heal slip concept. I like to feel like I could run a 40 yard dash if I had to. Going back to what you said about your toes being pushed together - If they are being squeezed inwards (from left to right instead of front to back) that should likely break in, as long as your toes dont hurt at the tip. Atleast thats how Im feeling after getting the pair I just got. My right and left foot are much different as well. The left one always fits perfect, and the right one feels like I could run right out of it.

I just recently bought my first boots, usually i wear 11.5 sneakers etc, with boots i went size 11 Medium wide. feet seems to be ok there is no movement to the sides just a bit on heel, but whats worry me is that there is lots of space around my ankle and from ankle up.. I have to say that when i put my boots on there is a bit resistances in going in so i would assume if they will be more narrow in upper part i might have issue put them on and take them off.. please help.. i want to make sure i have right size..

In your experience, do you find that you need to size down half a step going from a traditional R toe to a wide square toe? If you keep the same size in a square toe, isn't there so much more room up front without the taper of an R toe, that it feels like a clown shoe?

in my experience sometimes you have to go down or up a size depending on the toe, I do own a pair but I wear cuban heels more than I wear cowboy boots

I recently bought a pair of patriot circuit Ariat square toe boots. My first ever pair, the problem im having is they're really tight on the top of my foot where i cant have them on more than a couple minutes with my foot hurting so much i cant walk, i tried upping a size an the same thing, what would you suggest or any advice you can share to help with that?. I love the look of boots an always wanted to have a pair but its very discouraging when its that painful.

I’ve emailed this guy numerous times to buy boots over the years. And he chose to not reply. So I have no faith in this ridiculous store. Don’t waste your time or your money. He doesn’t care about the customer. It’s just a half-a** operation.

Cowboy boots were made for riding horses, not for walking. That's why I don't wear them. Nicks overland is my go to.

I think I got some that a tad too small. Not enough heel slip and is fitting a litte tight on the heel. Anyway to solve that?
