deleted all my social media and its the best decision ive made this year 😭😭, its honesty scary how people have these unrealistic standards because of the ‘digital mirror’-especially how it affects relationships
I deleted Tiktok, Facebook, Instagram... some time ago but I started spending more hours on RU-vid. Good quality contentent usually quickly runs out every time and afterwards I just watch anything not to feel lonely and to be entertained. But watching 20-30 minute videos is still better than scrolling through 1 minute ones in my opinion.
@@badzimustyle8358 I promise I'm not saying this because I started making RU-vid videos ahaha, but I 100% agree that if I have to choose, I would rather watch longer content that brings me something than just a 1 minute video that end up ruinning my concentration and attention span in the long run. I hope you take care of yourself, we are all struglling together, we might sometimes feel lonely but we are not alone in our loneliness

I get what you're saying! Even though social media is advertised as a way to connect us, it's really designed to keep us engaged and show us ads. The more time we spend on these platforms, the more ads they can show us and the more money they make. I do mention shortly the Social Dilemma at the end ! I feel like I'm the only (Young) gen z person who doesn't follow trends and only now uses social media such as RU-vid as a tool. I'm not sure if anybody feels the same way but I'd rather be myself instead of becoming like these other bad influencers and celebrities that don't have anything good to offer. (Not all celebrities are like this but a lot of the new ones are) I don't seek fame, popularity, or money but I do seek respect and knowledge. And yes, people are fake unfortunately due to there self esteem and ego. It doesn't matter if you are a man or a woman, everyone has there insecurities but we can work together and become caring and considerate human beings to make this world better. (I also deleted Tiktok years ago so that I wouldn't become like every other teen bot that speaks in slang or whatever it is they do)

Another thing to note is the ‘crazy advice’ and ‘happiness’ channels. At night, to wind down I transition to RU-vid. Whilst there are wonderful informative channels like this, I have recently noticed this infatuation with self-motivation, unrealistic advice, and girl-bossing on RU-vid. It is like an entire competition and rat race. I didn't ask for this. I actually just want nothing more than peace! ❤I love RU-vid though so so much though genuinely!
I like how you tied in the quote from Kafka, it's good to remember that we can learn from the past to have some perspective on current issues. The advice I give friends struggling with excessive social media use is that they shouldn't feel so bad about their addiction. In some ways a social media company is no different than a tobacco or alcohol company, spending millions of dollars to find out how to extract money out of the consumer the best way. With the amount of resources and research these companies do, the odds are stacked against young people, who do not even get proper education in social media use most of the time. Maybe we need to hold parents more accountable for making sure their kids don't get addicted?
