You can’t say that when you only see the bad videos. My hunt is very respectful on the roads and we don’t hunt foxes, it’s a scent drag. In my hunt club it’s highly frowned upon to mistreat your horse. Usually when people see us walking on the road they actually take their phones out to videotape and they wave to us.
Succ my T0ES yes, it is rather awful, but what’s unfortunate is that, some people will watch videos of hunting and believe everything that they see. Which is annoying for us, because we always keep to the hunting law. Furthermore I would like to say that when the law was first introduced, we lost a hound because trail hunting was very new to the country, so when the sabs saw us, they used a horn to control them. They ran across the road where one hound was hit by a car and died later in the vets.
@Succ my T0ES You don't know that and you seem to judge by the bad side of everything, which further supports my claim that you're a 5 year old spoiled brat. You're just accusing the rest of us so people don't notice your animal abuse, and I bet my money on that.
My grandma was Once a hunter and so was my uncle and both of them never treated their horses this way and it really upset them when they heard people did this
There is no such thing as privacy in public so any one who puts them selves in harm's way in an illegal hunt have themselves to blame or there parents are not fit to bring up children if I was there and seen minors at the hunt I would report them to the CPS for putting a minor at risk fk the police they won't do fk all because they get backhanders to turn a blind eye and half of those hunters would be pulled of there horses and put out of action for a long time I would be arrested every time I went with the sabs because these hunters don't play fair so I fight fire with fire
Verity Wilcox I’m a bit late since the video is 4 mos old but I cannot believe the treatment of these poor horses! Took me a minute to catch on why they kept blocking the cars. Assholes. But this idiot takes the cake- horses aren’t meant for that. They are prey animals and tx like this makes any bad behaviors they’ve picked up NOT their fault! Poor horse has been foaming at the mouth the entire time and the sound of their hooves- that is the first time I’ve ever heard that. It is cringeworthy. I see horses in a equine assisted therapy setting weekly and ...the difference is astounding. What a douche.
Saddles 'n Spurs it depends on how you fox hunt. Most of the people here are drunken idiots who don’t work their horses and then go on a 4 hour ride. If you work your horses daily and don’t really hunt but go out and canter for the fun of it it’s a hell of a lot more fun. Especially if you just head out into the woods and move around with an athletic horse.
Mungebimp13 I think you’ll find we are equestrians. If we didn’t care for out horses do you think they would be able to hunt 2/3 times a week?! You townies do make me laugh 😂
Rose Brown if your a fox hunter who hunts foxes you are not an Equestrian, if you do the hunts where you don't hunt anything you are Equestrians if you do it as a sport, go whatch a video on my channel I made about fox hunters
I've always been around horses. I have a horse of my own and he's been my partner in crime for 7 years now. But if a horse was used as a weapon to try and put me in danger, I would have no problem kicking it to get it to move out of my space. If you're going to use it to hurt me, I have every right to use self defence for my own safety, even if that means using force to get the force out of my face. Radical opinion, PETA, I know. Sue me.
The horses used for hunting are shod and it does not damage their legs unless they gallop which is abusive. Edit: Also the foaming is just sweat from the horses getting very excited, happens t my horse a lot when doing XCountry, as long as they are given salt afterwards to stop muscle cramping from loss of salt through sweat it is perfectly fine.
Erin Farley some times we might have to cross over roads to gather to other fields yes I don’t they should be cantering but the horse has shoes on and I don’t think they want to hurt their horses
@Cal show video to police; its pretty clear; lady screaming on horse; guy steering his horse directly into another person standing by the car off the road...very clear
It is absolutely normal for a horse to secrete foamy saliva during physical exertion. In fact, this is often considered a positive physical trait because it indicates the horse is relaxed and being ridden correctly. In horses that are tense or have bad posture, the salivary duct is inhibited and their mouth dries out.
You know how horses were originally used for war and food right? Who says what the right reasons are? Some vegan hippy will tell you there are no right reasons so who should decide? You?
Have you considered using drones? They are affordable, can be remotely controlled from your car and can't be blocked by horses. This would give you an enormous advantage.
Ah okie dokie, I wouldn't know, don't live there, didn't see guns in the video and I thought the purpose of the hounds was to find and kill the fox, making guns unnecessary. Never heard of a fox being hunted down and shot. But if you say so.
@@kathleenfountain3050 why horses love it as long as you aren't abusive you are clearly very uneducated and have never seen a horse in a field or in the wild
Actually it is quite well known that horses enjoy hunting . Running in a pack is what the do in the wild. It is the other activities which humans make them do which they do not understand
these people really break my heart horses weren't meant to be treated like this and you can see the stress and anxiety going through these horses minds people on the ground level getting squashed by these stressing horses and getting sworn at is unacceptable horses deserve to be treated with respect they were once wild and this is the same with every other animal in the world just think if u would of wanted to be treated like this if you were an animal trying to do their best for your enjoyment and not theirs even if it means galloping on road jumping fences and hedges on too roads this life for these poor animals is heartbreaking just please treat animals and humans how YOU would want to be treated
As an equestrian myself, I believe that a bad press is put on us, and that we are just rich people who think they can do whatever they want with everything and their horses and dogs. But honestly I believe that hinting is bad, but if it is controlled and foxes are off the kill list it could be acceptable. I believe that going out as a hunt, and teaching new and experienced riders to love the experience, and bot kill anything g except Time!!!
My dad , grandad and uncles all went hunting but they treat there horses like family members if they were aloud they would sleep in the bed with them😂😂😂
Sometimes If a horse is foaming at the mouth it just means that they've been chewing at the bit but everything else is DISGRACEFUL!!!!😡😡especially galloping on the road and hitting the horses !!
The bit on their mouth and if they foam a bit is it like a worry?... and when i ride my horse she keeps chewing on the bit.... is it... okay..? I am new to horse riding and i ride this horse in my lessons she seems a sweet heart a bit not a listener but amazing and sweet pony... but she chews the bit- and one time i saw her mouth foam idk what to do but gave her pets and sorries :(( she reponded with a nudge to me- and she doesnt chew it agressively she just chews it as i think like “what is this, ugh”
ednalyn Kim,, yeah theres some times where a rider will use a bit and it wont hurt, but only sometimes. i'm the rider who prefers not to use a bit, i can control a horse without a metal rod in their mouth, and i truly believe anyone can if they want to.
If the horse has a drooling mouth, that's good. If there is no saliva, it is bad. If the horse has "foam" ( saliva), it means that it does not compress its mouth and does not feel discomfort. If there is no saliva for a long time, it means that the horse is in pain and its jaw is strongly compressed.
Depends what part they are from really half the time nobody can do anything ab it its really sad i hate that its not illigal in some other areas as well its just disgusting
as a horse rider myself these people probably have no clue on how to treat a horse or their horses behaviour. these people should never be able to own a horse and i think the police should be more on them for abuse. that last clip when the man smacked the horse around the face appalled me, and if i ever see anything like this than i would shore to give them a piece of my mind.
Madaleine Willett agreed. These people are cruel. In what we are shown. You never know, that horse could have bitten/bucked/reared so he was smacked. Not that I agree with it but you know. Foxes are vermin and killed our smallest dog, a Jack Russell x Cairn Terrier. Ripped her to shreds. I will happily deliver the same treatment to the foxes. They are classed as vermin and will always be that in my eyes
I am glad you disapprove of the hunters, but you are wrong - foxes are NOT classed as vermin and never have been. Check with DEFRA if you don't believe me. That's just what bloodsporters call them because it suits their purpose. I am afraid I do not for one single second believe a fox killed your jack russell cairn terrier cross. A fox would run a mile from such a dog. Either you have your reasons for blaming a fox or you have jumped to a wrong conclusion. There is not a fox alive who could kill such a dog. And as for ``'ripped her to shreds" - no, that is in every way ludicrous. Jack Russells were specifically bred to attack and kill foxes. Foxes are petrified of dogs, and they do NOT rip things to shreds, which would be pointless and simply would not happen. They kill small prey wither with a pounce (ie voles) or larger prey such as rabbits by breaking their necks. An adult fox weighs about 5-7 kilos - your dog would have weighed considerably more than that, have a more powerful physique and a more powerful jaw. However, I repeat, I am glad you disapprove of hunters - and yet, and yet...you would rip a fox to shreds?????
PRIMADINA • MountainWeight oh shut up you don’t know what your talking about hunt sabs put Hounds under danger by calling them away from the hunts man (the person who CONTROL them) then you complain when there on the road that you’ve called them across you townies have no idea
PRIMADINA • MountainWeight they won’t even have a next life. That’s what’s sad. They won’t ever have a second chance at anything. This is their one life. They ruined it, and they ruined their horse’s one life as well.
They do but they are a different shape which just outline the saddle so the pad is there just not alot just whats needed which is better as the horse doesn't get as hot
@@tonyreez6945 I ride but I don’t always believe foaming is a good sign at all. For instance, with a flash noseband, it puts so much pressure on the horse and causes distress, hence the foaming. They should be banned. The horse cannot escape the pressure from a flash, many use them because of a horse opening mouth, crossing jaw etc. and just force the mouth closed instead of finding a more comfortable bit/checking for any teeth problems. Also, the flash requires the noseband to be done up incredibly tight, totally unethical.
No not poor foxes no not poor horse the horse are treated well and the foxes cause so much mess from attacking our lambs and chicken and other young livestock
Heavy Duty farming The facts of “poor horses” is that they are running with the horses on the road, and that braked their hooves. You don’t know a shit about horses 🖕🏽🖕🏽🖕🏽🖕🏽🖕🏽
@@turkschum9168 i respect that, but the people in the video were treating their horses fricking terribly *these people in the video should not own horses*
Dogs and cats Awesome I’m not a hunter myself but I assume it’s just so they can get the dogs to work, or so they can ride with the dogs in a more controlled environment?
Love for ANIMALS oh shut up snowflake parents die everyday by shootings and baby foxes would starve if they overpopulated and ate every animal they en starve and plus I have the right to shoot any mutt/fox/cat/person that harms me my family my pets or my livestock so quit crying and grow up. I hunt ethically not slow death fast death hunters that issue slow death ain’t hunters there abusers any hunter knows about a humane kill and in my area there too many coyotes and foxes that have rabies
You can see the horses try and hold back. These stupid people cant take an inocinte wonderful animal and use them as weapons. There are so many things wrong with these people.
They are hunting foxes. They do it in my area and completely fuck up the roads for the day, they have their dogs all over the place and they certainly do not have one of those fake foxes on the back of a Jeep to hunt, we have quite a lot of foxes in my area so it's pretty obvious that they are hunting foxes. They are clearly using their horses as weapons when they turn the horses rear to someone to wedge them in between the horse and car (bear in mind horses kick), I don't think you're old enough to understand why this is bad.
SpaghettiGodd I've lived in kennels before we ONLY HUNT TRAILS! And hounds are sweet and gentle. And yet you think you know everything about hunting well you don't. Deal with it!
Ocean The wolf I know they don't always hunt foxes and sometimes hunt the fake ones but I'm saying that in this case and the case in my area they hunt foxes! You don't need to be a condescending twat when I already know they don't always hunt real foxes.
'you are a bloody disgrace' true facts stated here it is such a shame as an equestrian myself to see those hunters hunters aren 't related to equestrians at all in my opinion 🙄
I totally get where your coming from but the fact you included foaming at the mouth as bad treatment is wrong my pony comes out of the school after an hour and has foam around his mouth same when we get back from a hack foaming in the mouth just happens to some horses especially TB's as many thoroughbreds up my stables all foam at the mouth
Mia Grey perhaps you’ve learned this from a year ago, I hope. Foaming at the mouth is a horse in pain from a harsh bit and/or heavy hands. That’s why it "just happens to some horses."
The noseband and flash is disgusting and causes so much pressure that the horse cannot get away from. Using a flash means the noseband must be done up very tight, it’s totally unethical.
@@em-jp4xt you don’t need to have the nose band done up right to do up the flash it’s not unethical if used for correct reasons some horses legitimately cross their jaw which can cause serious issues if your in the middle of the ride they can also get the tongues over the bit which can cause issues things are made for reasons proper just sometimes don’t use them for the correct purpose. Like a whip it’s is meant to be and extension of the arm and enforcement of a weak leg not as a tool to bash beat and bleed a horse but you don’t see them putting that in the video I think people need to understand that not every person uses equipment the same and some get ahold of equipment they don’t understand and cause more damage but never when I have used a nose band and flash have I gone past the two finger width rule it’s never tight on my horse and on a daily schooling session he isn’t ridden in one anyway on a hack He is to reduce him grabbing the bit and taking off when he’s out in the open but when not in those spaces he rides the same as he dose without it so please get facts before assuming
This awful treatment of the horses and towards the monitors is disgusting. I hate all fox hunters. They're all scum. Keep up the good work in documenting these evil people.
Teagan EastBell - It's a bit tricky to make the difference of the Hunter sport and riding discipline clear most of the time. Tony Sackett was talking about the type of Hunter in the video. The (blood)sport type, not riding discipline. :)
As being part of the equestrian community, this is absolutely sickening. I think this needs to be brought to attention more and things like this just need to stop.
It's just so fucking amazing how people can think that they can you a horse for a weapon 1 the idiot would probably fall off 2 the horse could get seriously Injured 3 people like that shouldn't be aloud anywhere near a horse
As an experienced rider (riding since I was 3) I know that everything they're doing is wrong. If they're not that thick as they claim to be they would know that actually it is pretty bad for the horses legs when cantering on a road, and if they did know how to actually ride and hack out, they would know that it is a stupid thing to do cantering across the road. This is what bridal paths are for. I have a New Forest and he can be a bit of a slow ass sometimes so I give him a tap either on the shoulder or the bum. There is a reason why they say just a tap, horses may be tough but they can't handle anything and hitting a pony on the face with a whip is or should be classified as abuse. Yes spit and foam does come out of the horses mouth a bit, but that was like a waterfall of spit. But oh my gosh, using a horse as a weapon, that's disgraceful! That is disrespecting the horse and the person that you're using it against. A horse is a creature that needs love too live dogs and cats. It disgusts me as well how terrible they are, they know what their doing is wrong so that is why they try block the camera. Control your dogs ladies and gents. You should be ashamed that a girl that is just a year off her teens knows more then a 40 year old adult.
The hunt shoot their dogs when they get too old to hunt, they are hardly going to care about their horses either. Honestly you can’t expect any humanity from someone who has dogs rip apart foxes and other small animals for shits and giggles
you clearly don't though the horses have around 3 months of fitness training before each season so they are able to canter on the road without harming them it is only bad if your horse isn't strong enough
I am actually triggered right now! How disrespectful! Those poor horses! Those poor foxes! 1) The horses mouths are in a lot of pain: foaming may mean the horse is relaxed in the mouth, but bits still hurt horses mouths, as anything would be that is pushing, pulling, and yanking on soft tissue. They're also using straps (sorry, I don't really know what they are) to keep the horses' mouths shut, which doesn't help. 2) The bits are to far up in the horses mouth, if your horse looks like they are smiling with the bit in their mouth, THEY'RE IN PAIN!! There's this thing called the two rinkle rule, where if the horse has more then two rinkles on it edge of it's mouth the bit is too tight; these horses definitely had more then two rinkles on their mouths. In my opinion, just don't use bits, they just bring the horse pain and discomfort. 3) Why are they hunting foxes? I'm a vegan in all but there is literally no reason to hunt foxes: they got no meat on them, humans already have captive foxes for their fur; this is just cruel!!! 4)NEVER RUN A HORSE ON HARD GROUND! Especially concrete, it's really bad for their legs, even trotting on concrete is bad for their legs!!! 5) Those hunters are super disrespectful and are the main reason why I am triggered. I have a friend that is scared of horses and I don't really know why, because I have horses of my own and feel really comfortable around them, but seeing this video makes me realize why people are scared of horses, because there are idots out there abusing their horses and using them as weapons against the public. HORSES ARE NOT WEAPONS!!!
Brianna Bremer foaming at the mouth means their jaws are relaxed, please do research and my young mare foams at the mouth and so does all horses so are you saying me and others “abuse” our horses?
Just because they are on these beautiful creatures, doesn't mean you can abuse them and others, some people don't deserve the privilege of riding these beautiful horses..
I'm a hunter up in Canada, but I would never sic a pack of dogs on a fox or any small animal. A hunting dog should only be used to retrieve, protect, and/or tree/corner potentially dangerous animals (like a cougar that is hunting humans). A true hunter only kills for food/population control and practises kill shots so as not to cause further pain for the animal. Having a pack of dogs ravage a small fox is pure abuse!
Echo what's your point? That people who are trying to reduce cruelty would run those who are cruel off the road? That's a commendable thing to do in my eyes.
Hunters are a disgrace to the equestrian community. I strongly disagree with it and I am a rider myself. As one man said. They think they’re tools and that they serve for them. It’s just wrong
Can i please just say that I understand youre opinion but not all hunting horses are treated like this and honestly i think a horse would rather gallop across a feild with its friends than trot in a circle for 10 minutes! Hunting is one of the greatest parts of riding and so many horses love it!
I have my own opinions and to me hunting is cruel, I live in England too and I have seen hunting of which the hunt had trespassed on my mother’s land which is private just to chase a fox. Fox hunting is illegal and highly abusive to all animals. You never know what happens behind the scenes. I’ve seen it and it’s absolutely revolting! They starve the hounds so that they tear the fox apart, they beat the horse and if a horse does something wrong they beat it even more and they are extremely abusive to the community!!
I have horses and ride western pleaure and ik for a fact This sport (fox hunting on horses with hundreds of dogs) shouldnt exist anymore. And a whip isnt for beating your horse! This video just made my blood boil and all of those people should feel ashamed of themselves!
As someone from the UK (a lot of people who do this are like "It'S bRiTiSh TrAdItIoNs!!") I can agree, they do it in my area and pretty much everyone that lives along my road dislike it, but we can't stop them because they have probably paid for the land. Fill the car park of the pub (the one I live attached to, which means our parking spots as well) and just have their horses stood in the middle of the car park where people are meant to drive down! Then they have their dogs all over the place and by God that poor fox (I don't think they use a fake one)
Kim Trainito well WP is just as bad. Unnatural head set, unnatural gait. 25 years ago I showed WP. I refused to put a wig on my horses tail, let her head stay at the horizontal and move in her natural gaits at walk jog lope. Because she looked NATURAL and we were both having a blast that was obvious to judge and spectators alike, we cleaned up. This filly won High Point as a 2,3 4 and 5 year old. We were on the path to the pros when bastard strangles took her at 5 1/2. I still haven’t recovered
The whip is for beating the horse, not with extreme strenght, but horse skin is so thick they are mostly not hurt if you can measure your strenght, though i don't use whips to ride, normal sticks do the same job.
Your post show your total ignorance of horse behaviour and body language. The most cruelty I saw was those bloody terrorist hunt sabs driving far too close to the horses which could have spoked and ended up being hit by the sabs car. If you want to see animal cruelty take a look at the Chinese. See how the Chinese terrorize live dogs prior to skinning them alive because they say the fear makes the meat tender for eating. They even have annual "meat" festivals where dogs and cats are skinned alive after being abused to scare them.
Jemma Tooley, that may seem like a good idea but it would ultimately mean that the horse would get put down, maybe something else like the hunters getting hit by a car?
Horses are animals and they have feelings just like us and they feel pain too if theses idiots need to go back to school and learn that I would educate them myself
U gotta be sick minded to enjoy watching a poor animal malded to death. Hunt riders got at their worst once the fox ban hit during their illegal hunts. No excuse for inhumane treatment to any animal
DrDrakub it’s inhumane and cowardly. Let’s go round killing any animal that kills another costing people money. That’s another part to hunting. Yeah let’s get excited chasing after the Fox and dogs but just turn a blind eye to the Fox’s suffering. Idiot. If the dogs caught the diseases from the Fox’s they’d stop it. There’s millions of people out there killing and spreading diseases to other people maybe we should hunt them. Mindless ignorance to justify your cruel actions
Our stable bought a hunters horse to rescue. The owner said he wasn’t fast enough. Our stable is in the middle of a military wood so when we can, we ride in the woods. But I was the one who had to stabilize him to use for lessons because they were afraid that certain commands would trigger him to go from standing still to galop and with beginners, you can’t take that risk. He came out a half year later as a perfect horse! He transformed from a hunters horse into a dressage horse who reacts better to voice rather than anything. Lean to the left a little bit, he goes left even with long handleashes (don’t know what to call them in english) lean right, he goes right. Say galop and he goes. With a bit of prr he goes faster and ho he goes slower. He now jumps for competitions and he dressages in a high rank with the owner of the stable. Save the hunters horses, they are bomb trained and everything and are the absolute sweetest because they are not used to love❤️
TwentyØnePony's The problem is, that if they give back what they did, the dumbass idiots will 1.hurt them 2.think that the horse is crazy so they kill the horse (mostly the bad situations) 😢
TwentyØnePony's I'm a horse rider myself 2 and I think some of the hunters just think their big and cleaver just because there sitting on a 17hh horse or something ( this is not to offend anyone! )
Willow Dendy I was saying it to be rude but my opinion is that some people in the hunt are not very nice to their horse or other people but some people do it for fun
Willow Dendy I do not mean to offend you or any of the people you know but in the title it says 'how some hunters treat their horses' I'm only saying my opinion but I don't not mean to afend anyone :)
WHAT THE HELL!!! I'm speechless. Take away the horses, take away the dogs, and leave the poor foxes alone. And, most important: Get these stupid people checked, they seem to be mentally ill!!!
I thought she meant hunter jumpers when I clicked on this... I hate the real hunters who do this. Edit: I also don't like the tack there using it makes my stomach turn how they ride and choose there pain devices
There not acting like lunatics they ARE lunatics. These people are set in there ways. They think horses are just a piece of machinery but no, horses are beautiful, sensitive, and can be a best friend. These people should not own one if they can’t bond property
For those of you saying that this is not how hunters treat horses blah blah blah THE VIDEO IS CALLED HOW *SOME* HUNTERS TREAT HORSES NOT ALL!!! (Sorry about that these kind of comments are triggering me)
I hunt myself and the group i'm with are lovely people and we all love and respect our horses, so not all hunters are like this so please understand that most hunters are very nice people
some of the things done are horrible in this video but the foaming at the mouth is completely normal, It is absolutely normal for a horse to secrete foamy saliva during physical exertion. In fact, this is often considered a positive physical trait because it indicates the horse is relaxed and being ridden correctly.
1:12 one look at the spurs this guy is wearing says enough if you ask me - it's like a fucking bayonet! imagine that getting jammed into your ribs, and just look at the way the guy in the next clip is kicking his horse - even without spurs that's way too much force. I know it's not the same person in the two clips but that's not the point - they're being needlessly cruel to these animals. If your horse knows what you're asking it to do, you shouldn't need this much force and you certainly don't need pain or fear of pain. not to mention the poor fox that's getting literally hounded by what looks to be dozens of dogs - who are also being treated irresponsibly. why these people think it's okay to have send the whole pack onto a road with cars going across it is beyond me. just, ignorance and cruelty all around, it's more than sad..
Everything about this video is absolutely disgusting, but I will have to disagree with cantering on the roads. A light canter on Irish and British roads with an unshod horse with well maintained feet causes no problems as long as the horse is brought in slowly into it and not over long distances for a period of time, the horses feet should have a resistance built up over time slowly before moving up to a canter on the road. Here our roads are made of Tarmac, Not concrete, the reason tarmac is used is because it's softer and cheaper overall to make, but in the USA it's often not used as hot temperatures (Anything over 80f) can melt the roads that here we hardly if ever experience. God everything else about this just grinds my gears though, absolute pricks.
Purplepoppyanimator I agree that it shouldn't do the horse too much harm to be cantered on the roads. I am more concerned about motorists and pedestrians; particularly as these are narrow rural roads with a lot of blind corners.
It's stupid really. I'm highly against fox hunting, and hunter jumping isn't my most favourite thing in the world. It's illegal, people are still doing it, and nothing is being done? Why make a law if you're not gonna enforce it? It's ridiculous
Foaming is always bad. Why would they foam from sweat?? Do you see horses foam in the wild? If they do it's from pain, not stress, anyway. And I always see horses foam on bits, and those things 'cause pain, so it makes sense if they chew or move their tongue to get away from pain, it would 'cause foaming.
Ana Alina foaming isn’t always bad. Yes, in some cases it can be, but in this particular situation, the foaming at the bit is good. The horse was listening to the rider, and was foaming up because it was comfortable. The foaming was because the horse was feeling comfortable with the bit, and flexing its jaw. It’s literally just the saliva. If you don’t believe me, look it up 😊 I’ve been studying equine vet sciences for a while.
