I've noticed a pattern.
I ain't a shotacon, but I do love me some smol hothead characters. Karkat, Caliborn, Epel Felmier (wait that one wasn't Homestuck, but you get the picture).
While he is absolutely friggin hilarious, the fact that he is still more efficient and diabolical than the rest of the cast makes Caliborn such a great villain! He's my favorite villain of all time.

It's really easy to pity the guy when you realize that out of all the characters he's the most bound by destiny, his story is 100% set in stone and is too fundamental to be retconned. Also since he's supposed to be a bad faith parody of all our criticisms it's near impossible to not find yourself agreeing with him more and more in hindsight as the comic goes along.

I love Caliborn so much. He's just like ... This tiny, yappy little rabid Chihuahua of an antagonist. A seething, shivering purse dog of a dude. Simultaneously one of the poorest and littlest Meow Meows. The absolute worst.

I actually did a video on the little guy once. I actually love the little guy and how unapologetically awful he is, plus you actually get to see his from bratty gremlin to existential threat almost step by step. Def one of my favorite antagonists.

Happy 11/11, everybody! Can't wait for the inevitable HS:BC update coming later today. Actually, I'm feeling a sense of dread for some reason. I'm sure I'm imagining things. The Read-action will probably be edited in a rush to post it before Sunday. Just so's you know.

Also, after hearing through most of the "homestuck made this world" podcast, I can't overlook the fact that caliborn is literally the bad faith fan inserted by hussie literally to make fun of them, he literally has the whole world specifically to make his life hell, and is kind of neurodivergent coded, which makes hussie look a lot worse than maybe intended by him. Lord English is just the normal textbook pure evil demon and I see how caliborn got there, but he really is a different character (he's barely even is a character tbh)

it’s honestly a shame how LE is essentially just some plot required villain with some backstory to make you and the characters care. i think hussie said in the book commentary that LE is 99% Caliborn but it reeaally does not come off that way at all..

@@spaghettiiwithjuice9826 the fact that LE is just the boiled down idea of bbeg isn't actually that bad, and boy does this comic already have enough characters as is, but yeah it's hard to see calliborn under that, it could also be the tradition of making all adults mostly only speak outside reader perspective and le is mocking and being the fucked up biggot to the ghosts as usual while going on a double killing spree and we just don't know.

I always felt a little bad for Caliborn. The alpha kids are all pre-disposed to like Calliope more than him (though to be fair he is a little dingus) and the only way he has to interact with the world is a computer screen. We all knew a few guys growing up that had the same outlets and, surprise surprise, turned out a little toxic. I knew plenty myself. And while a lot are best left forgotten, some turned out to be pretty decent people once someone helped them touch grass and get outside their angry little bubble. And like, he's literally an 11 year old. That doesn't excuse his behavior but his villainy comes off less as moustache twirling evil and more some scared, angry brat lashing out to try and get a grip on something. Kid needs a hobby and a snickers.
