How Hollow Knight Speedrunners can beat the game in almost 30 minutes! Check Out Lep Here: / @lep_19 / lep19 Massive thanks to NKGrimm GameplayZ for reading over the script for accuracy! Speedrun Explained Episode #2
Thanks for Watching :) Upon finishing off this video, Lep has finally beaten his time with a 31:52! These two runs are close to identical so fortunately the video is still 99% accurate. Huge congrats to Lep for this achievement!
I mean NMG it IS required, since downpatching midrun is not allowed in any HK Speedrun. Edit: hilariously it is now possible to do full clawless on one patch thanks to a discovery that you can Pogo on your own shriek. We'll find out if this ends up being deemed a major glitch.
@@narwhal16384 I don't really think including major glitches or banned software quirks is worth a mention because then everything is almost required but sure.
@@fink7968 Either way it isn’t a significant detail being taught or shown to the average viewer, and is just a fun nod to the people who know. I don’t think “mention” is accurate, it’s more of a passive acknowledgment.
Hollow Knight runner here- it's always awesome to see well-constructed breakdowns of my favourite cateogories! Although there are a few inaccuracies and missed details (those are always bound to happen!), it's really nice to see such well-researched scripted and constructed speedrunning videos! Nice job!
Any% at its base level isn’t all that complicated. It’s the optimizations and tricks that can be more difficult. But even a mid-level HK player can complete an any% run (myself included), although it isn’t fast. You collect geo with a simple route, so there’s no calculation going on. You just need 1800 for the lantern, and (I think) 400 for something else.
Path of pain, not a boss, but yesterday I reached the end and died so I am a bit… upset. Edit: The day after this comment I managed to complete it :) Right now I am stuck in the Sage pantheon. Believe it or not, the hardest boss for me is Uumuu.
I've only finished the game once and have very little knowledge about speedrunning, but your editing and narrating made it simple to understand and enjoyable to watch 10/10
It’s speedrunners that got me into the game in the first place. And here I am years later, learning their routes, and taking on the hardest challenges that the game has to offer.
I didn't know the watcher knights was a very difficult boss and now when I know I beat it without searching for guides it makes me feel happy cuz it's my first hardest boss I fought
Just wanted to say your videos are very clean and polished. Also the speed at which you get these out is amazing. Keep making non spelunky related video. Also side note where do you get music for your videos? Is it all just game soundtracks of the games your talking about?
I was gonna subscribe and then I saw you only had 7k subs. My first thought was how did you not already have 100k+ subs. Your content is very good ESPECIALLY for an individual with 7k subs. You've earned a pat on the back
I just have to say that the thumbnail is probably the most engaging and beautiful thumbnail I’ve ever seen. It is mind numbingly simplistic and yet it stands out from 100 thumbnails. I don’t know exactly what you did to get this perfect thumbnail but props to you.👏👏👏
Would it be possible for going out of your way to get the dashmaster when you get the mantis claw to speed up the times a bit? If there's significant dashing in the game it sounds like it could at the very least make up the time loss
this is a good video, but i think you couldve zoomed in a bit more on some specific tricks, like how 1 VS is used to hit an enemy multiple times, or the skip used when getting the mantis claw. once again, still a very well made video
i didn't even find watcher knights that hard, it took me like 3 or 4 attempts, but then again that might have been the most attempts it took me to beat a boss at that point
I haven't played any hollow knight, but I've watched quite a bit about it. I did not know that wcs was used in the run. I always thought that was just a tas thing.
3:54 Honestly, it's so time-consuming to do it that it's better not to learn it anymore and just go through it normally because it's impossible the more I see it, the more I feel that it is impossible to do
Lep neither invented this route, nor is the only one who uses it search 'hollow knight any %" for hundreds of others who run the same route for a better and better time
I was very excited to hear that the watcher knights were known as being the hardest boss in the game ,as i had just beaten them yesterday after roughly 3 hours of pain. That is untill i discovered the dream variant of the broken vessel, which i am now on hour 4 of fighting… when does the suffering end?
9:32 They aren't nearly the hardest in the game, but definitely the hardest in Any% NMG What makes them even harder here is the fact that runners have very low equipment
