I am an advocate for more practical effects and against overused cgi, but I will forever hold vfx artists in high regard for doing their best to recreate the world and make it look as seamless as they possibly can. When you consider the amount of time the team had, and how much they had to do, you can be more understanding of the final product. I do have issues with No Way Home's use of cgi where there really shouldn't need to be at first (I'm looking at you, Green Goblin) but I'm never going to blame the vfx team for this. It's mainly a decision made during production, especially since marvel movies seem to be increasing in number of projects coming out relatively close to each other, hence not enough time to clean up the vfx shots.

vfx artists are so undervalued, not just by people outside of the film/tv industry but the actual industry themselves seeing as how overworked and underpaid they are 🤷🏾‍♀️ they have to time crunch all the time and the result is people saying using cgi is lazy. i do agree that cgi can be overused, particularly because studios like to exploit cgi artists, but i would never attack the actual artists or the craft of cgi. i just hope that they have better working conditions in the future

@@cupcakemcsparklebutt9051 Often, regular who have no experience with CGI love to criticize it when they find out it was CGI rather than practical (real), after they’ve already praised it. We say VFX artists are under appreciated because they are. If you’ve ever taken the time to look at credits after movies, there’s a part where they mention the artists and so many other people who rarely ever get credit. It all goes to the directors, (sometimes) writers, and actors unfortunately when it comes to superhero movies. They also get paid very little which is unfair.

I love seeing stuff like this and what goes into the CGI. I figured the fight scenes would be a lot of CG but the stuff like environments looked so good that you didn’t realize it was CGI. I’d like another part to this showing off the CG that went into the Dr Strange fight and the final fight as well

Kinda surprised that they didn't use the Volume for some of these shots. Disney owns it and I think it's at the same Atlanta Pinewood studios (or perhaps in the London studios) but it would have made certain shots easier for the crew and a faster post-production time
@markcoggins1405
@markcoggins1405 2 года назад
The Volume hasn't yet been used in any Disney movie production. Since it uses a video game engine, Unreal Engine 4, movie producers with years in the industry aren't yet comfortable with using it for $200M+ budget movies, despite the Volume being cheaper and visually superior. They would rather do the tried-and-true way. Hopefully soon the volume can be greenlit for movie production.

I am always for practical vs digital. But this was awesome to watch. And I see many film fans say acting today is easier because so much of it is CGI. I disagree with that and say it's more difficult. The actor has to use their imagination and react to things that aren't even there. Or do silly things like talk to a tennis ball lol.

Batman is the most practical superhero ever. Anyone can be like him. The movie itself compared to TDK is way more practical, especially the chase. Comparing The Batman to NWH is weird considering Spider-Man isn’t possible and the MCU in general is often goofy compared to Reeves’ portrayal of Gotham (for now).
