I barely noticed the aspect ratio changes and I'm impressed. Matching the color grading across the different cameras and lenses is quite a feat because it was done seemless and for some reason it felt big budget despite the isolated jungle locations. Yes, other directors use aspect ratio changes all the time but sometimes I find it jarring and slightly annoying especially when it skips back and forth relentlessly (Transformers: Last Knight, and M:I Fallout being the biggest offenders).

@alanmatuka

Same just crossed my mind. It's very pc to include different race characters in movies nawadays, up to the point it sometimes becomes absurd. And imagine white director making a decision to include white characters only, he'd be hang by the lamp post.

Honestly I have never watched any of his movies but just seeing what he could accomplish in those early films and how visually stunning they are, and how he went about doing them, it's pretty impressive. Maybe he should just stay away from genre schlock
