Steve was right. That was a great song for Elvis. I also liked Elvis' rendition of "I believe" which is a great song also. Elvis could sing anything and make it sound fantastic!!
I love that steve let Elvis be who he was. I don’t think Elvis knew he could sing anything put in front of him till he sang all those invented songs in the movies. They just threw stuff together for those movies and he sang them. And they were fantastic.

Tom Parker was out of his depth by this stage. He had no idea how to take Elvis'career forward and wouldn't have known a great song if he heard one . It's such a shame that Elvis didn't fire him after the show was in the can .
This would have been his strongest point after the movies and before the next phase. Elvis would not have been idle for long. I'm sure he'd have been even more successful, look at what he accomplished with some independence and artistic freedom
This is the song Elvis should have closed all his shows with! Oddly, he never sang that song ever again after the special. So as usual, Parker won again.
