“Damn Good” is one of my favorite DLR songs in his catalog. Such a nostalgic vibe to it. Always makes me think of all the damn good times I’ve had…

While working with Frank was cool, and more substantial musically, Dave made him huge man, and he knows that. He's smart enough to never bite the hand that fed he and his family so well no matter what. Seeing him with Dave for Skyscraper, standing right in front of him was pretty fkn epic.. Dave surfed over our head! No, not crowd surfed. He was on a surf board flying over us!

I’ve met Steve before . It was very brief after a G3 show - but he was very cordial and welcoming. He didn’t have any attitude like he was ready to go relax after the show etc. , didn’t give off any sense of annoyance of having to pretend to welcome a fan etc.. Really nice guy , signed a T-shirt I had , asked me a couple questions etc.. . I’m not the type to be creepy and love bomb or try to milk a situation for everything - it was all short n sweet . I’ve always had major respect for him : before and since .

So working with Dave was like working with anybody. Give and Take. I guess the takeaway is that Dave treated his Band like Equals and was a real artists, he was not just throwing euphemisms and Stadium Anthem ready rah rah lines together. "She lay in waiting till she gets older, for fear of leaving tracks in the winter's snow..." AHHH Lazy eyes in the summer sun fresh from out of town, now she's working on the streets, shake them poor boys down".

I always felt DLR dictated a lot of the style and structure when he was in Van Halen. I assume that was also Sammy Hagar's job, hence why the two versions sounded so different. When Eddie tried to write songs on his own, it just didn't work.
