The Roundtable Lmao what if pink diamond was rejuvenated and while she was rejuvenated they took her pearl bc she destroyed pink pearl and home world. While yellow and blue Weren’t there . And then she got her memory’s and feelings back and changed bc she didn’t want to get rejuvenated again so that’s why the pearls (volley ball and pearl) have different experiences with pink. I imagine they get the sense of it, but also dont ever need to interact with it. Like say their fusion got hungry, the part of them that is steven would be the one to naturally deal with that. So I guess theyre along for the ride but dont need to do any of the logistics behind it.

Why Spinel and Steven? The entire song of "Found" is about Steven not being the one and he wants her to find new friends. It'd be forced and dumb if Spinel randomly fuses with Steven when they aren't close at all.

I’m confused with some Steven fusions… specifically Rainbow Quartz and Smoky Quartz. Steven isn’t a quartz, he’s a diamond. A fusion between a diamond and a pearl is different than a quartz and a pearl. So are those fusions incorrectly named? Or is it just an example of fusions naming themselves?
Amethyst is a Quartz and Rose took the form as a quartz regarding Pearl. The names were decided before Pink's reveal. Like the original Rainbow. Might as well keep the name.
I wanna know what Steven & Ruby (garnet) or Steven & Sapphire (garnet) would look like. Steven & Ruby would probably be more laid back and fun, like with Smoky Quartz or cowboy Ruby.

Yes actually since lion appearently has the same scream that pink has, idk if pink can travel through portals or not but for the most part lion has Pink's powers and Lars has Lion's powers

Stevens fusions are becoming more efficient I think, as in Smoky Quartz’s debut, when they defused, Amethyst came out as light where Steven didn’t. We never truly see Steven fuse clearly until a very special episode, where when he fuses with garnet he does it by becoming light as well. Good work Steven!
Also they're becoming a lot more versatile and powerful. Smokey using their yoyos as a net. Rainbow can bring things to life and send people away like he did with Onion.

Wasn't it Rebbeca Sugar who had said fusion was a metaphor for sex though or something along those lines. I remember her saying so and than watching Steg happening and thought that she might've changed her mind on that metaphor into something less adult.

I once heard that "Stronger Than You" is also a song against racism, inspired by Rebecca and her partner Ian's struggle as an interracial relationship, so Ruby and Sapphire versus the same-Gem fusion rule could be a nod to that.

Yeah, it should be kunzite, since it's pink and it's often in perfect shapes (Her cut is perfect and she's pink as well +w+) pink diamonds are also well pink and if we're going off of rose quartz kunzite sometimes also has a but of a smoke effect with white and pink. Idk seems like a good choice to me
That won't happen, especially when he never got to fuse with Peridot at least. Spinel and Steven do not have much of a relationship other than Spinel's bitterness and regret toward him. Spinel ran off with the Diamonds before Steven and Spinel can get to know each other better.
I love that they’re giving us a lot of fusions in Future and thankfully it doesn’t feel like just fanservice that takes away from the show. It feels like a payoff for all the slow building they did in the first series.
Fusion was always special and beautiful and there is literally no reason, as you said, to basically keep the fusion from existing. The Fusion has a life and reserving them ONLY for dangerous situations makes them little more then a weapon.

I totally agree with you Awestruck. I'd go so far as to say that the growth and usage of fusion in this show alludes to the growth and development of this show's plot - both have advanced and escalated to greater heights.
That would be a huge and insane plot twist; and it'd be even better if Spinel suddenly switched to the main protagonist role, fighting against him. Though that's not very likely and even if it did happen, it'd likely be the diamonds and Crystal Gems fighting him. Nonetheless though, it's a cool concept idea

I Feel as though both garnet and Steven could've had more influence sunstone has a fire body for god's sake Sapphire could've easily had more influence as well Also the "weapon" is absolute shoot bubbles aren't considered weapons so why does sunstone have bubble gauntlets to make suction cups any gem can make a bubble heck even peridot does I'd of much preferred a kind of katars
I think 8:05 is the most telling sign of how homeworld changed. When we first saw that area, the gems were divided very clearly by color and where they were supposed to belong. Now though, all the colors and different types of gems are blending together, fusing if you will.
I feel like this kinda represents same race sex/romance. Cause often in many cultures, romance with another race is forbbidden and a lot of times fusion is like the gem version of romance/sex.
Roundtable I have a theory. When Steven gets mad pink light gets around his body. What if that pink stuff is like an virus that causes him to be corrupt. He will probably turn to the GIANT worm in the intro. But I don't know, I just like thinking about things like this

I feel like, as in some other series, SUF has spread the concept of fusion a little thin. I'm talking about Dragon Ball Super with Vegito, Gogeta, Zamasu, and Kefla, and Digimon with their plethora of fusions. Now, for SUF, In terms of 'fan service' or wearing out appearances, there's nothing wrong with this. Plus, some of the fusions are genuinely fun to see, and can be said to be unique characters in of themselves which is something DBS/Digimon don't even really try to do. But it seems to me that it creates a new problem. Since we're seeing fusions a lot more commonly, its seem to be the be all end all solution to a problem (Smokey forming to save a rollar coaster, Alexanderite forming to squish Bluey. "Oh no, a threat, lets fuse") Fusing used to be a real "Aha" moment, with said two/three characters trying to solve a problem on their own and when failing to do so, getting through character development and solving it through fusion. The gems don't even seem to try to fix most problems on their own, and instead just default to fusing straight away. In turn, I feel this doesn't make the fusions stand out in any particular way, but it does make the gems individually seem much more vulnerable, both power wise and personality wise. Plus, the more we see of the fusions like say, Smokey, the less we see of Amethyst and Steven. Not a big problem now that they've more or less done their character development (Save for Steven), but it's still something to keep in mind. Again, not saying we shouldn't see some of these fusions anywhere near as often as we are. I think that Smokey, Rainbow, and... Sunstone... Deserve a fair bit of screen time and I wouldn't mind having them take over an entire half of an episode. But, some of the other non-personality based power gems like Stardonix, Opal, Sugolite, Alexanderite and Obsidian should definitely be used very sparingly.
But we still don’t know if peridot (an era 2 gem) could fuse because the diamonds could’ve programmed the newer gems to not be able to fuse since it ruined their authority
I think the main reasons we are getting many fusions are 2 fold. 1. To show that there has been a liberation for fusions, being allowed to mix however 2 gems or more want and for whatever reason they want. 2. To build up to the eventual fusion between Lapis and Peridot, which would close their character arcs, Peridot being scared of fusing, even when Garnet tried to encourage her, and Lapis being scared of fusing because of Malachite. It would show they're both finally over those feelings and itll show they do care for and trust each other
I like how big a part fusion has been in future, but it does make me sad (even with the original series) that they just stopped fusion dances? Now they just touch and fuse? Fusion dances were a really interesting part of fusion to me and it just takes away a big part to have characters boop each other in order to fuse
