Interesting topic, I believe by this I may have turned a corner in my hobby. I’m new to sw, only 18 months in, but I’ve kept fw for decades. My 90 gallon planted discus tank is the easiest and least stressful aquarium I run. Before I bought my first discus, I did a lot of research, and I ran my system as if I had discus in it for over a year. I took every death, even a $1.99 tetra seriously and wanted to know exactly what happened. I studied the stores nearby and their source for fish where posted. $100 for a baby was a lot of money to my wife, I needed success. By the time I bought one, it wasn’t any different than any other fish I’ve kept, and worry free. Life happens and when it does tank maintence gets sacrificed for othe responsibilities a father of 4 has, but generally my systems never show signs. Even those “fragile discus” have seen nitrates over 40ppm and no sign of stress, and I still worry as much about that $1.99 tetra as my huge beautiful tank boss. I think I’ve reached the point where they are all important, regardless of cost. I’ve not actually thought of it like that before, and clearly the research and prep work I did before discus, I had the same feelings you brought up in the video. I’m wondering if anyone has felt the same?

I feed mine anemones 1 time a week a small peace of freeze dried krill the tail section only. I have had them for years , they can not digest large portions of food the food will go rancid before they can digest it and they will die.

I agree on the large portions and thats why I always cut my shrimp down to tiny pieces. A whole shrimp will last me about a month when feeding x8 nems

Stability... only moniter Salinity, Temperature and keep Nitrates and Phosphates elevated enough to prevent Dinos. So Good lighting (LPS spectrums is good enough), Auto top off system or frequently replenish water to prevent salinity swings and lastly a bottle of Microbacter7, NeoNitro and NeoPhos to regulate nutrients in between water changes.

How and what did you treat with? I've struggled with this as well

I’m going through this sorta now my nem hasn’t turned south but I jus worry a lot it might not be getting enough light bc it’s not near as big as it was initially but I did increase the flow quite a bit so idk I mean it’s retained it’s deep rich bright neon orange and green colors of the sunburst and it’s not stretching matter a fact it hasn’t moved since after the first wk I put em in there we’ll see I hope I succeed as this is one incredible looking anemone makes my reef come alive it’s my fav piece since I only have 10-12 anyways but it’s big like 8in across I have a baby one that was supposed to be the same thing but it seems to have a lil red more red to it hopefully I’ll find out in a few months by it starting to grow can’t really tell yet but I’m gonna start feeding it mysis once or twice a wk jus to try n make sure it’s getting everything it needs

I had no issues with rainbows, Sherman, but when it comes to green bubbles, no success.

Mine is not doing good. Checked water. The nitrates are between 5 and 10. So I put some stuff in there to bring it down. Did a huge water clean change. Filter clean. Everything. So I'm not sure what is going on. It looked white when I got it and I nursed it back to health to its green color. What should I do
@PurelyAquatic
@PurelyAquatic 4 года назад
If it was white when you got it, the nem was bleached. Best you can do is feed it and keep the tank parameters normal/constant. It can take months for the nem to recover. Do you have any other nems in the tank?

I agree with reef ghost 100٪ it was chemical warfare from the RBTA. CHICAGO sunburst need to be in their own water free of any other type of nems. I almost lost mind but was able to nurse her back. I agree very easy to keep. Mine has lived happy in a 10 gallon with cheapest hang on filter $30 led and 0 cycle time.

Color change may indicate the use of dye. Glad you were able to bring the anemone back to health.
