Though he used it to throw a punch, the idea for a doctor to be able to create a small portal to be able to operate on you without having to cut you open is like a perfect ability for him.
If used properly it could be potentially one of the strongest and broken ability creating portals inside person to attack them or to redirect a persons attack
Leorio was able to develop one of the most unique Hatsu’s in so little time. The fact that he can use his Hatsu for medical and combat purposes is proof of his genius. He reminds me of Morel who he himself said that he isn’t really a warrior and that the sea is his passion. Morel uses his Nen for the Sea and he uses it for combat because he is a genius too.
@@The.Frumious.Bandersnatch nah Morel is top 10 nen user easily. He’s only ranked as great because instead of utilizing his manipulation affinity to 100% he primarily uses Transmutation & emission. He can only be so good at transmutation because it’s his opposing affinity, and decent at emission but never the best. To be excellent you need to utilize the most optimal path for your nen type. He obviously doesn’t since he spread out his abilities so much. Genius is just like breaking limits

@@kc_h7h morel isn't top tier. Mostly due to his lack of wanting violence. His nen abilities clearly aren't combative in nature. It's like using a pen to stab someone while they have swords. His love for all living things makes him seek power that is less harmful. Which in my opinion is why he's my favorite. He chose to limit himself in using nen affinities that are detremintal while giving him more combat control. also will protect what he loves at any cost. Literally locked himself with cheeta and shaiapouf in a pocket realm like fight me. If that's not metal idk what is. Morel still doesn't touch top tier nen users. But he also would never be killed by them. Due to his combat control. If you have to see him or touch him his smoke becomes that much better. He should always be able to escape fairly stronger opponents. Which gives him a level of security I think some top tiers don't enjoy.
@@Takee007 I mean it works with the lore and power system. Nen is a very Will and Emotion base power system. Ging knew Leorio had no intentions of killing him. Base on what we learned previously from Hisoka, Gon and other characters. You immediately know based on nen someones murderous intentions. That being said he did probably increase his defense and to tank the hit and understand exactly how the ability works.
When I think of Leo's nen ability the teleporting punch I have to ask, "How would someone wanting to be a doctor come up with this?' and the best answer I can think of is that he wants to reach inside people to do surgery without making incisions. Now imagine that ability in a fight. You just reach inside someone and squeeze their heart. It's a cheat code.
I remember seeing an indepth analysis of Leorio basically following the shounen protagonist arc, I really hope that Togashi has something big planned for him (that does not involve dying 😅)
To be 100% honest, Leorio reasons to be a hunter as well as his own personality and willpower are the perfect ingredients to combine with determination and resolve. He could potential push himself well into ultimate. You need only put him in a position where he must become strong or his friends will die

There is a big difference between strength, intellect, Nen, etc. and the POTENTIAL for those things. It's not unfair to say Leorio isn't as high as the others in those areas, but he's been recognized for his potential not his current abilities.
I think that peak Leorio would fight in a way very similar to Law from One Piece. Plus his teleportation punch is much like Law's room+tact so I can only imagine what Leorio can do if he maxes that out.
His ability reminds me of targeted therapies in medicine. Actually punching a tumor isn't going to do the trick but opening portals to deliver energy attacks or even remove things would be great for a doctor. It would also be great as a fighter since if he could find a way through their aura he could just rip their hearts out. No one could stand against him as long as he was able to find a way past their aura defense. Well, the woman who can redirect damage to her killer and revive herself would destroy him but otherwise he could best anyone if he could catch them by surprise or have someone else break their aura defense.

Something that Leorio would be very well capable of due to his nen type, his knowledge, and his skills would be to inject his nen into targets to trigger various effects to their body. Imagine if he threw a punch at someone and they blocked it but his nen transfers like a shockwave through emission and manipulation to directly hit the liver, it causes the target's blood pressure to drop as well as hitting a nerve. Even experienced fighters end up dropping to their knees due to the huge shift in blood pressure going down.
The anime makes it clear Ging saw the punch coming and took it voluntarily, but the manga leaves more room to interpretation on whether or not he was surprised by it.
I think a cool nen ability would be something called like scalpel. Like he could use his Nen on his eyes and see through your body and internal organs and even find weak spots or pressure points which could make his attacks which aren't as strong as Gon or the others become very lethal.
Imagine Leorio vs a opponent just phasing his hand anywhere and pulls out the opponents heart or spine or brain etc lol. A surgical nen style ability that doesn’t create blood loss due to the phasing through matter lol
This is someone else's idea but I believe in this, I think his nen ability was developed to form operations/surgeries. If he masters it he could probably pin point the cause of what's harming the body and use his nen identify it and attack it curing the person. In combat that can be dangerous cuz all he would have to do is open a portal inside your body and cause serious internal harm. Sky is the limit for him.

I am so worried that Leorio is being set up to die and give an emotional reaction in the readers. Seeing him in this latest arc reminded me a lot of how Pokkle and Ponzu were used in the ant arc. Characters that are likable and due to their earlier roles are nostalgic but not really used very much and can be killed off without running the story into the ground. Their deaths make the dark side of the story so much darker as you realize that the darkness in the story has the power to crush real light and not just other dark characters or NPCs that most readers don't care about. I know I watched the ants gather and kill countless people but when they killed Pokkle and Ponzu I was quite angry because I had high hopes for these two likable characters that I thought were making a comeback. I was also quite pleased to watch Gon and the Phantom Troop kill the ants that played a roll in their death. All the other ant deaths were less satisfying. So, it ended up improving the story but it was still very bitter for them to be killed off and I hope Leorio does not end up in that role.
I don’t believe he’ll die mostly cuz he’s really under development as one of the main characters. I think he’ll get his own arc someday like how kurapika is getting his own at the moment
He only hit Gin because Gin let him. He saw the attack coming and chose not to do anything about it because he knows he hasn’t been the best father to Gon
what if as his powers grow his whole body can teleport and separate. Please make a video on what his potential could be, I would love to see chapters on him training with all the zodiacs. Plus that would give us a chance to see some power scaling and abilities maybe.
since this is a shonen its all about the why. the stronger the background of why someone wants to get stronger the greater the power up. pretty sure leorio will become a beast in its own rights
Some char i don't remember the name of Asked Ging why he didn't dodge the hit even if he saw it coming so kinda a stretch that leorio would land a hit on him
Ging definitely took the hit on purpose, but the simple fact that he was interested in the ability is impressive enough! We saw that a guy with a similar (but less subtle) ability was far beyond the average nen user and even far beyond everyone on Greed Island but Tsezugerrra's group, Genthru's group and our heroes (excluding the troupe and Hisoka who were on GI for a different reason). And since that guy could only do this on the ring, Leolio is much stronger than he is (on top of the much bigger range and other applications of his technique that Ging mentions here).
Ging let leorio punch him and was able to mimic it due to some talent he has of being able to recreate nen he's been hit by. However this doesn't take away from ging seeing him as an interesting person and wonders how he'll grow/progress. Ging was able to tell that leorio had an ultrasound ability and paired with his nen punch, would be a non expensive way to find and remove tumors. The ultrasound ability is even said to be quieter than usual en! Leorios nen is still very vague on its limits and capabilities currently but it definitely shows some interesting possibilities that can come! Also i don't think he'll ever be made for fighting seriously. While it would be cool to see it, the focus on his goal of being a doctor and what can come from is for sure greater (sorry of this is long 🙏 I've thought of this more than often)
Gin took it because he already read the situation and thought Leorio would be a more fit leader than him. Also thats the power of Leorio keeping the context on the ground with realism only a dude that just want to be a doctor struggling with daily stuffs.

Damn, you're harsh. Like, a 10/20 score should mean he's literally average in that category. * Strength wise : Leorio is an emitter, which means he's got a 80% learning rate in enhancement too. He's not going to be as good as a pure enhancer like Gon or Uvogin, but his enhanced strength is literally top tier. I really rate his "openning two layer of zoldyck door" feat better than you. He's got the better built (like, gon is still a kid, kurapika has a small build) but he still did twice as much in the same ammount of time. IMO, with nen, he's going to be in the top tier. Like, 50% of nen user (specialists, manipulator, and conjurer) are inherently worse at it than him (That includes guys like Moreau, who gon almost killed with the "test" punch with less than 2 years of hunter experience...). Even the guard (one of them a ex hunter) could only open one door with training, and that's the average hunter (ie, 10/20) out here. Also Gon broke Illumi's arm BEFORE learning nen (illumi wasn't using it either for defending, but he's got the zoldyck strength training like killua, who openned three doors), so that Leorio was more powerful than him at the door test says a lot. He's probably a 15/20 or 16/20 just with basic nen enhancement, more if he did any focused training. He won't reach the top (18/20 or more) but that's for the real monsters/actual enhancers. * Intellect : Tbh, we've seen him being dumb (or inexperienced at least), getting tricked, etc, so I won't complain, but I think a 8/20 is harsh, lol. He's more rash than stupid. Especially as medicine is hard, if he had below average intellect/no brain, he wouldn't pass). Also, his negotiations skills are top notch. (His plan to find the mafia with arm wrestling was good) He's got them street smarts (it's not wild smarts like gon, or assassin smarts like killua, that's for sure, though) I would give him 12/20. He can be outsmarted by some, but he's not average smarts. * Nen : Tbh, I don't think he's that good either, especially as he's not focusing on it, but on learning medicine. No top notch teacher like Biscuit too. He's probably quite far behind compared to the rest of the cast, but Killua/Gon are canonical geniuses, and same for kurapika. Just the fact he's keeping up with them is crazy. A 9/20 is harsh af, lol. Pokkle is basically what an "average" hunter would be (so a 10/20) and leorio's nen is definitely better. A good 12/20 or 13/20. Your 30/60 is making him literally average, but as you said, he's above 99.9% of humans simply by passing the hunter exam. And the average hunter out here isn't that good (see pokkle, or the hunter who became a guardian for the zoldycks) Leorio probably would ruin any average hunter out here. Say, the crop 288th exam had very good candidate, and only 7 passed (thanks to murdeous hisoka and very harsh tests. The others tests probably were easier) The one star or triple star are all better for sure, but we're talking about the top tier of nen users... The people having a 19/20 or 20/20... Hisoka rated hunters at the election, and even most of the pro ones got a score of 0 to 30. He didn't rate leorio, but it means, the average pro hunter is actually fairly weak, and that's what we should compare him to, not the monsters like Gon/Killua/Hisoka, or Netero... Considering this, I would give him a 40/60 at least.
Ging let himself get hit intentionally, to simply affect the vote. Leorio becomes the focus, removing Ging from the vote, a lot of people already hate Ging. Now he looks terrible as a father and a bad opponent. Ging beat the entire crowd of hunters. Power scale is stupid.
Ging took it on the chin on purpose, it was his 500 iq play to fuck with the election/pariston, since he predicted the result it would have. It's therefore not actually a useful benchmark for Leorio's power, even moreso since we don't even know how strong Ging is. But even if he was Netero level or above, it wouldn't change anything for Leorio due to the previous thing.
Strange. When reading or watching Hunter X Hunter, I'm not really interested in Gon or Killua. I'm more interested in the development of Leorio. Even Killua is only at second place. This is probably because out of the main characters, Leorio is the one who comes form humble beginnings. He isn't born from a special family. And he isn't some prodigy. He's the one that truly has to make some effort in his achievements. He's the one that's trying to catch up to a younger generation with their special gifts and talents through his own effort. The others were already diamonds in the rough. Leorio is the charcoal that needs to become a diamond.
I'm not making a statement on Leorio's strength, but are we really supposed to pretend that Ging didn't intentionally get hit by Leorio's technique? Ging essentially explicitly states that he took the hit because it would make Leorio more likeable to the assembly and so that Ging could copy the technique.
There were a lot of good nen user and amazing fighter who will never win against mereum. That includes leorio. Mereum read and predicted netero’s ability and tanked zero form. Leorio will die with a flick

No matter how badass you think a character is, if Hisoka doesn't get horny for them, THEY ARE FODDER CHARACTERS! Yes Leorio is in this category cuz having an OP ability doesn't mean anything if you can't use it to the max. Hisoka is best example of this cuz Bungee Gum is a fairly weak Nen Ability but Hisoka's application of it makes it seem broken. So by this standard Leorio is FODDER. He is the HXH Krillin
