Homelander’s skin and bones super durable but his insides can be more easily damaged. He was stabbed in his ear. The eardrum was was injured but he quickly healed.

Even if he’s bulletproof that straw is going in with the full force of Maeve strength so it’s different

Soldier boy with his nuke is the strongest supe. He was clearly weakened in the first clash. In the second fight he took on everyone including homelander.

Only thing I can think of is that the straw is made out of an alloy that Homelander isnt immune to. Something that no one would consider being weaponizable. They could explain it away like "oh this very specific alloy content can bypass his invulnerability". Give him his own earthly version of Kryptonite. Thats my theory anyways.

I really hope they do a solider boy spin off even a ww2 or Korean War movie when he fights some other supers and proving his top dog status because from the way he approaches the fight it’s like he’s done this before against some of German supers. Also I think The problem with soilder boy power scale is how inconsistent the writers are with powers in these later season like the straw incident. Soilder boy Blast goes from can blast through a bunker then destroy half a city block to blowing up a cabin to then destroying half a Forrest and a manchine; to then destroying half of vaut tower. To oh it just blew out half the windows. Also his strength in the homelander and season finale fights go up and down. Against homelander he magically starts losing when he clearly was winning for butcher and huggie to help him that’s the only reason he started losing. Then in the finale he starts decking people who where able to hold down homelander and over power everyone even after starlight gets powered up. Where is this coming from why didn’t you use this in the first fight with homelander. Honestly it’s something I’ve noticed the writers sometimes go for the moment and plot and don’t stick with continuity. It’s just a noticeable issue

Remember when homelander got a bruise or stabbed in the year, soldier boy was there both times, soldier boys ability literally weakens supes to the point of being vulnerable to incoming damage, soldier boy was standing right behind homelander when homelander was tending ryan and he was powering up to blast, it be the same as superman being within proximity of kryptonite. Soldier has radiation pulsing from him, just being within close range is enough to slightly weaken anything with compound v in it. The blast itself kills all the compound v, being within proximity just messes with it enough to make you vulnerable.

Keep in mind after his fight with Homelander he didnt have any cuts or bruises. While Homelander clearly had bruises. You can also say he was slightly weaker after using his atomic blast. Since he seems tired after each use.

The russians said that he was invunerable to physical harm, the Soviets had literal miles of land to test nukws on him and they apparently couldn't even hurt him. And it makes sense cause chenicals are his weakeness so its smog would just knock him out

I agree that the straw thing doesn’t really make sense, but I think that was more related to Maeve’s strength than the straw or Homelander’s durability. I think it was meant to be a Maeve feat, not a Homelander anti-feat. And Homelander’s durability may not extend to his insides, at least to the level of Soldier Boy. Soldier Boy’s durability seems to be uniquely on its own level.

You might laugh, but I consider Soldier Boy to be close to MCU Phase 1 Thor’s level of strength and durability. Soldier Boy’s durability is to the point where it’s implied that the only thing possible to kill him would be a hydrogen bomb, which reaches 100 million degrees Celsius. The greatest feat of strength we ever see in the show is A-Train pulling that locomotive. He was pulling the engine (front of the train) and three empty passenger train cars behind it. That tonnage is anywhere between 200-300 tonnes easily. And if we assume Soldier Boy is, let’s say 3x stronger than A-Train, then that’s an upwards strength limit of 850-1000 tonnes. The math might not be 100% accurate but still, Soldier Boy is an absolute UNIT. It’s just a shame because he basically has no showcased feats to back this up. It’s all implied and vaguely referenced. But if it’s true, then he could throw hands with the likes of Phase 1 Thor or even the Hulk. Which DOES sound like a serious stretch, but we shouldn’t underestimate Soldier Boy’s reputation. People make the mistake of assuming that just because The Boys is a parody of Marvel and DC heroes, and is satirical, its characters are weak. But we see a lot of characters showcasing pretty crazy power levels, Soldier Boy especially. Edit: Technically, I’m mistaken. I googled it. Lifting strength and pulling strength are different if wheels are involved. A-Train pulled that locomotive, but it was on a track and had wheels. The same way everyone can push a 2 tonne car (because wheels) but take the wheels away, and you’re not pushing that car an inch. Doesn’t matter if you’re built like Arnold Schwarzenegger, it won’t budge. So, Soldier Boy is still CRAZY strong, but I’ve probably exaggerated his potential feats of strength a bit.

About Soldier Boy and Homelander powers, their cell properties would be different. The cells should have some fixed properties: They should produce more cells only when those cells are somehow lost or destroyed such as being hit really hard by Butcher's laser beam, losing blood by getting punched really hard by homelander and having to produce more bone marrow to produce more blood cells etc. Because naturally his cells don't die unless there's a strong enough kinetic force or extreme temperature to kill them. Their cells molecular bonds stubbornly stay together. And when they're damaged they're replaced with perfect replicas, no information is lost which explains why he doesn't age. Also this means he could get stronger much faster than the average human just like Invincible. He would damage the muscles by lifting enormous weights and the body would adapt and produce more muscle cells per square inch though there probably would be a limit for how strong he could get. They should have extremely strong bonds like graphene. The way I see it is overall his body has a higher number of cells per square inch more prominently in the muscles and bones which explains his super strength. It'd be required extremely high energies to pierce through those bonds thus explaining his durability. His body wouldn't need to keep producing more sex cells because they don't fall apart in his nuts lol. If he takes a wank the body just produces more. He would have indestructible sperm lmao. The hormones I believe would be very similar to normal humans. He would also need to produce enough blood to supply his super dense muscles. That would probably mean his heart would have to be bigger and pump harder or more frequently than humans which would explain their super stamina. That's more or less what I think compound V did to their anatomy.

Let's imagine that straw or rod was made of a really strong metal alloy. And the pointy tip adds to the piercing ability significantly when combined with Maeve's strength who is comparable to Wonder Woman. Shoved into HL ear drum and with his inside being less durable the SB. Makes complete sense.

I'm guessing his ear drumb got hit and was messed up and maybe it even went into a part of his brain. In gen V you learn that all supes can be put down momentarily with certain sonci weapons. So that obviously means that all supes have vulnerable ears including any organs in that are. Remember he is tough but he's not impervious in the way Superman or omniman are. He can be torn up pretty badly if someone can hit him hard enough but people rarely hit him because he usually attacks first and ends them or hes going up against much weaker supes. You even saw him constantly be extremely dazed when hit when he fought butcher and hughie soldier boy. That means his brain is bouncing when he is hit and that means his brain is pretty soft so if you can get at that he's done .

Homelander = slightly stronger than Soldier Boy Soldier boy = noticicably more durable than Homelander I think their first confrontation, soldier boy lost mainly because their was no hero as strong as he was and underestimated homelander being stronger, soldier boy does have more moves and is more tactical, higher battle IQ so another similar confrontation soldier boy might solo if given the opportunity 1v1 But ya'l know that the Straw was metal, fucking METAL, yes metal can hurt anyone especially rammed in a very sensitive area like the inner ear, could have gone straight to his brain.

Here's the deal with the straw: in our real world hurricane force winds have been know to pick up plastic drinking straws and throw them with enough force to pierce through tree trunks and houses. Queen Maeve is an incredibly strong woman she hit Homelander at just the right angle with an enormous amount of force with a steel straw. Of course it's going to do damage and hurt.

It harmed Homelander because it was from Queen Maeve. Btw, he shrugged it off. A normal human would instantly die. So not only is he super durable, but has super resilience.

Yeah Soldier Boy is pretty strong and we know this from the feats of weaker opponents. A Train whom is fodder to homelander or Soldier Boy. Can explode humans which requires small building or even building levels of energy. Crimson Countess whom is also fodder to them can incinerate several human beings at the same time using her blasts. So that is also like building levels of force right there. Then you have Lamplighter incinerating a steel door. That is also building levels of force to possibly city block. Then there is Victoria Neuman who can explode the heads of characters like Shockwave whom is a peer to A Train that can withstand the force of his blows that are building level straight up confirmed that her hax will not work on Homelander and she is banking on a virus. Then you have Kenji who can lift up Thousand ton boats if not higher also being fodder to homelander. So basically folks that can lift up buildings are trash to Homelander. No surprise there lulz. There are feats from other characters that I don't feel like addressing at the moment but yeah. They are far beyond Building or even city block level as I just showed above. So them being nuke level could kinda make sense ngl. Now as for Maeve damaging Homelander with cabinet destroying hits or Soldier boy and Homelanders fights not destroying the building they are in. Funnily enough that is refuted by weaker characters in the previous or same episodes performing much better feats so don't take it like too seriously. Every comic or series is a victim of pis.

The writing has been more and more trash tbh. Even without the egregiously incessant political biases and nonsensical coincidence writing, it's been getting a lot worse. And consistency was one of its victims. S1 Homelander was mach 50+ at least, and completely invulnerable. S2 Homelander was slightly supersonic and could be temporarily incapacitated by lesser supes, but was still invulnerable. S3 Homelander was slightly superhuman speed, maybe 150mph or so, and could be easily bruised and even penetrated by human means wielded by lesser supes. And S4 Homelander can't even catch Hughie crawling at 1mph down a set of pipes anymore. I guess Kripke's hateboner for Trump and him for some weird fucking reason wanting Homelander to be a metaphor for Trump has made him incapable and unwilling to present Homelander as an actual threat.

Homelander surviving a nuke when he was injured by beings like straws or superpowered punches could be explained away by the fact that a being of his size would only a receive a millionth of the energy of an entire city busting explosion. Theoretically, he could be building level or city block level and still survive a nuke with serious injuries like the Hiroshima bomb victims. As for him getting wounded by Soldier Boy and Temp V butcher, superpowered punches are basically like shaped-charges, concentrating an immense amount of explosive force onto a small surface area. If the Boys wanted to kill durable supes, Frenchie should have just shot Homelander with a Javelin Missile launcher. Those fuckers can penetrate close to a meter of rolled steel. A javelin might blow a fist-sized hole in Homelander's chest and blow his internal organs out another. Large explosions, like Nukes and conventional explosives, are not effective against armor at all. Sure, it would disable a tank, but a few repairs and the tank's back into commission. Bunker busters and shaped charged warheads are what is used for hard targets. Conventional explosives are good for taking out a bunch of soft targets, like enemy infantry. So a fictional character surviving a bomb puts them at armored vehicle level durability, a nuke would put them at tank or battleship level durability. While I agree that Homelander could take out the military, anti-tank weapons should at the very least give him a minor bruise. Let's say that Homelander's skin is the equivalent of 1000mm of rolled homogenous armor, his eyes are 100mm, and his eardrums are 10mm. Maeve could have shoved that metal straw through a WWI tank pretty easily as it was a smaller version of an armor-piercing self-discarding sabot fired out of a tank, made of titanium. While Homelander and Soldier Boy are incredibly powerful, they are not immune to the efforts of a conventional military. Concentrated fire with anti-tank weaponry could kill them with concussive force, nukes could severely burn them. And by severe, I mean more severely than Stormfront. Homelander's greatest weapon, if we were to take over the country, would be his speed. A moving target with the durability of an M1Abrams and the speed of an F-35 Jet would be impossible to take down. Anti-air weapons are designed to kill aircraft with the fragments and concussive force of the missile, which frankly, would do jack and dick to Homelander. Homelander could very easily take over the US if he's not completely braindead going about it; thus, he's still a credible threat in the world of The Boys. A being doesn't need to be anywhere approaching Superman or Omni Man's power level to be a near unstoppable threat.

Think about this in dragon ball z trunks sliced frieza in half with a regular sword. Does that make frieza just sword level? No. Dude can tank planets exploding while cut in half.
