I didn't WANT to post this video 6 days after my last, but that's what happened. This is a video starring the Wasp Gun, with a special focus on the new interaction that it has with the Hive Pack, which, aside from the Hive Pack actually providing a substantial effect for the weapon now, might actually give the weapon quite a significant boost in viability!

I feel like relogic should make it shoot more wasps, it would feel more fun and increase the DPS of the weapon. And if the wasps speed were increased then it could become a boss shredding weapon.

it wouldn’t even increase the damage. I-frames lock the max dps of the wasp gun (unlike something like the bat scepter)

@@fantastico_o yes it would? the problem wasn't immunity frames (and they made it static immunity so all wasps can hit) the problem was the wasps were too slow for bosses and couldn't hit them other than the first time when the gun was fired. increasing the speed would heavily increase the dps depending on how fast they would make the wasps

I think it is intended so that wasp gun is just good enough to take on the Pumpkin Moon and get the Bat Scepter, which is a direct upgrade in my opinion.

I feel like increasing the speed just enough for the wasps to consistently hit the saucer would be great. it doesn't need to be a boss shredding weapon, it seems that its purpose is events and it does it really well. if they made that change this would be the perfect event destroyer

I think it just being an event specializing weapon would be a good niche for it, yeah. It has a bit of trouble chasing the Ice Queen as well at times, so I think that buffing the wasp speed more really is the main change that they gotta make

Honestly, while I haven't tried the wasp gun out, much less the now buffed version, I have used the bee gun quite a bit in the past with the hive pack. The weapon type is really good for certain things, though yea, definitely struggles more on faster bosses or in certain situations. It's basically about "death by a thousand cuts" focusing on doing a lot of hits of small damage numbers that slowly add up. I'd say the main benefit to it overall is that unlike a lot of other ranged weapons, aiming isn't as necessary, so you can focus more on dodging.

I like that they buffed the hive pack, previously it was pretty underwhelming and only really used pre hardmode by mages with the bee gun and rangers with the bees knees, but now melee gets a better bee weapon, the hive five (though I don’t think it’s really worth it to use the hive pack still tbh) and it also buffs the hornet staff for summoners. And I guess mages now have the option to use it with the wasp gun post plantera. But I don’t really think it’s worth farming plantera for, especially since the bat scepter is also available at that point and does what it does better.

personally i love it on non majck builds, i use ut burn mana then switch to my sword or gun for dps. the homering helps ALOT

Wasp gun needs buff For a weapon acquired from plantera, You use it against golem, EOL, or Duke. It doesn’t do well on 2/3 of those, those being EOL and Duke. On golem it does good, but there are better alternatives

I think it holds a place as a middling weapon that just has specific use cases, but it does suck that because of how it works it becomes very difficult to use against certain kinds of enemies (very quick, flying ones)

I think the wasp gun would be better if you could get it sooner than plantera like reworking the bee gun to be upgraded to the wasp gun. Or maybe jungle mimic drop

Getting it earlier is a good idea. Would most likely need some slight nerfs obviously, but I think that it would be a lot more viable against the early hardmode bosses except for the twins than it is against most of the Post-Plantera ones lol

Yeah wasp for some reason don't homes to plantera this is an anomaly since 1.2 actually and is a surprise devs never noticed this literally for years! Also splits number on game calculations always is round to up with some Specific limitations just for note

Are you sure you aren't talking about Queen Bee and the Bee Gun? Because the WASP Gun certainly is a mid-hardmode weapon which you get from Plantera, which is a mid-hardmode boss, which I'm pretty sure has always been the case in any version of the game lol

It doesn't change the fact that the wasp gun's mechanics are problematic for the fights that I struggled with lol. This is provable simply by using your eyes and watching how it plays out, or by trying it yourself
