How Tall Was Goliath? It Depends.

This is an educational video that presents the question of how tall the Philistine giant Goliath was. It is a more concise version of my first RU-vid video. The answer to the question depends on which text one is reading, and which measurements are being used. Spoiler alert: There isn't one answer. This video provides a range of the size of a cubit throughout antiquity, and applies the different heights recorded in the Masoretic text and the other ancient texts of the Bible. I think the four cubit reading is more accurate, that's shorter but still pretty tall even back then. Not really hard to imagine a scribe some point in antiquity decided to increase Goliath's to make his fall to a simple Israelite shepherd boy more amazing.

I'm 13 and 5'8" tall, nobody is tall in my family (mom: 5'6" dad: 5'9.5") except my uncle who's somewhere between 6'4" and 6'7" tall.

Is your 6’4 on your mom’s side? It would make sense considering that 5’6 is technically above average for a woman (5’4, 5’5 is the US national average height of women) so if your mother is that tall than she probably has a lot of tall family members…

I'm from romania first of all but it doesn't actually matter cause the averge is pretty low ( 5'4 women and 5'7 men). I have two very tall uncles. The first one, who's 6'4 or 6'5 is my mothers cousin. The second one, is my dad's brother. He is 5 years younger than my dad but 5 or 6 inches taller. My dad is 5'10 or so and he is 6'4 or 6'5 like my mom's cousin. They don't have acromegaly and never played a sport. I'm now 5'11 at 14 but i play pro basketball ( and my mom si 5'4.5 not 5'6)

@@Andrew-gv4bh I’m 5’9 and a half and am 16. According to the results of my last physical I’m technically above average for my age (67 percentile 😮). I remember in a video call with a doctor a long time ago (before 2020 lol) where he said that based on th X-rays they took of me I could potentially grow up to seven feet. I have scoliosis on my ribs and my mom was really concerned and that’s why we got the X-rays

I wish you best of luck men to get rid of it. I think you just need to do some therapy with special exercises to get rid of scoliosis

@@Andrew-gv4bh i hope my future kids don’t inherit it lol. Actually I inherited most of my physiology from my mom’s side so if I choose the right one than I highly doubt they will lol

I think Goliath's height was six cubits and a span which is almost 10 ft tall like 9'9" And the longer cubit would be like 10'9" or 10'11" or even 11 feet tall.

Goliath and and the giant short-faced bear which is extinct we're the same height. The giant short-faced bear standing up was 11 ft tall. I think that Goliath was 11 feet tall the same height as the giant short-faced bear. Or Goliath was probably the same height as the Kodiak bear standing up with two legs at 10 feet tall

It’s physically impossible for a human to stand at that height least of all walk: they will collapse under all the weight. If you look up the stories of extremely tall people you will notice that they don’t live very long lives and they die to to these pressures

I couldn't find the video of Goliath couldn't have been more than 10 ft tall video. I couldn't find that on RU-vid
