I don't see any of these being prohibited by state at this point. I see them prohibited by the state if they happen *quickly*. If someone loses half their life expectancy over the course of 20 years, then it's perfectly fine to not heal them from disease and starve them. But if they starve to death in the course of 1 year, then it's not ok - according to the state.
As an Irish person I have several terrorists in my family tree going back to 1798. These terrorists and others like them are viewed with pride by Irish people generally, though the label is not used. I think the ease with which the label terrorist is used to de-legitimise various groups results, in part, from many European and North American populations never having identified with 'the terrorists.'

DeoMachina I’ll admit the PIRA were no saints, but it’s completely ahistorical to say they weren’t trying to free Ireland; Its the central tenet of Irish Republican ideology! The whole reason they revitalised themselves in 1970-73 was because they literally thought they were one more push away from independence- Stormont had collapsed, they had massive support from Catholics for defending estates from police and Loyalists, and the British Army had completely alienated itself by interning and killing large amounts of Catholic civillians. And yes the PIRA spilled blood. More than any other combatant in fact. The key difference though is that the majority of IRA casualties were security forces. Meanwhile, Loyalists and British Security, who frequently colluded together (85% of info used in Loyalist attacks came from British forces) mainly killed civilians, with Loyalists killing a far higher number than the PIRA. Good video! It’s good that, while briefly, you talked about Peru’s internal armed conflict, and the dichotomy created by using the term “terrorist”. And while the conflict is more complex, it was nice to mention it in a video for an English speaking audience

I believe the FLN actually did openly refer to themselves as terrorists. I know in the film Battle for Algiers they do, but I don't know who overall historically accurate that film is. It's a good film tho.

Yeah, a note about Zasulich - her acquittal was revoked the day after she was released, and the police was given orders to arrest her again, and would've gotten her, too, had she not fled to Switzerland. The day after that, the government made a law that transferred all future cases of assault on soldiers and police to military court, which would most likely just execute the convicted. The lawyer that defended Zasulich, as well as the minister of justice, were both fired by the furious Tzar. In short, exactly what you would expect from a state that had the word 'autocracy' in its motto.
i'm always amazed how often the leftist debate on violence ignores context. if A (police, military or otherwise) threatens B's life, and you condemn the condemn people for trying to defend B in a way that may harm A, then you support the violence of the A. if it's _not_ in appropriate defense of a greater threat of violence, then "violence is okay sometimes" is bullshit. the goal should be to decrease overall treat of violence as much as possible. is that pacifist? seems to be the most reasonable interpretation of the word to me…

Your anecdote of Perú remined me of a case that i heard about students who were processed by the anti-terrorist laws in Perú for giving panflets that called to vote nule, this was not long ago and it shows the incredible represion that is supposedly justified to fight against terrorism
this may not make much sense but the SP campaigned widely against voting and elections (burning ballots, pamphleting and so on), obviously he wasn't in any way linked to SP but the correlation still there

If i can share a little bit of positivism, the concept of the armed forces being the heroes of the armed conflict is getting less support that had been some years ago. Because of the numerous increasing reports of their crimes (specially the Colina Group), movies and other stories showing that, and the general dislike the people have now for the Fujimoris and their supporters, which are the ones that most fiercely defend the armed forces. Now, a lot people would talk more about GEIN, which captured the leader of SP and wasn't a supported by the dictator. The thing left now is to inform the people to give credit to the ronderos and indigenous people that fighted SP
Fun fact about Gavrilo Princip: He was not the first guy who tried to assassinate Franz Ferdinand that day. The organisation he was part of was called Mlada Bosna and was founded bu anarchists but later let other groups join. There were multiple attempts the same day but Gavrilo was the one who was successful. The others really were anarchists.
Can't rate your Russian, but can rate your Hebrew (more correctly give you a short pronunciation guide): "Lechi" is pronounced with a voiceless uvular fricative, the famous "khhhhh" of Hebrew and Arabic (and somewhat similar to the Dutch g). Similarly, "Menachem" has the ch pronounced the same. "Begin" kind of sounds like the English word it looks like, but the first syllable is stressed instead of the second. Irgun is pronounced with a simple i sound in the beginning (like the "ee" in "seen").

The definition of a word, is itself far less problematic then when a article, post or video goes into specific acts. A friend of mine was one once of the opinion that everything was political. A private cooperation can in a similar way to an individual or a state have specific interests like survival and growth. And these interests can at times contradict or complement those of the other two. You can call RU-vid political. But I would argue that they are simply conducting Real Politics.
But why try to retake the term terrorism? Why not stick to freedom fighter? Terror evokes public fear, why stick to that label? It also helps to distinguish between justified political violence and political violence that hurts the people more than the enemy government.
