In this video I talk about the historic 11-0 start of the 2023 Tampa Bay Rays and how they changed the game of baseball… Business email: twr.studios1@gmail.com
No watched the whole video just hilarious ..there has not been 100 teams to start the season playing every worst team in mlb never but keep telling my yourself that
@@yousjiveturkey show me the year that a team started playing every worst team in mlb first 14 -15 games there is 100 like he said in video should be easy
@Mathieu Nantel lmao try googling that stat. You'll find nothing. He made that nonsense up. Doesn't change they haven't faced a good team yet. Kudos to them for the 11-0 but they aren't winning an AL pennant or world series this year. Sorry, bud.
Every rays fan who has been watching the team for years will tell you this did not happen overnight. The Archer trade, signing Franco & trading for Randy, they’ve made so many incredible moves over the past 5 years to position themselves for a real championship window. Rays teams of the past have always had a gimmick vibe to them. This team has a mean streak/edge to it that the league is not going to want to face in October. They look like the real deal.
@@dustindodds4827 yes. A lot of fools saying is only because we haven't played good teams. Dude the hitters in this team are not chasing. That was put biggest problem in previous years. Now , even when we don't hit, we put competitive at bats. For example, in 2022 the way pivetta was pitching, walls brujan and zunino would be 0 - 4 with 3 Ks each. Now, for example, even the players that don't get hit like benthancourt, he won't 0-4 or 1-4 but worked him to full counts and competitive at bats. This team is for real this year. Even randy he's striking out like 15% less this year
To add to the points you made near the start comparing basketball and baseball: you can field a star player in basketball for most, if not all 48 minutes in regulation time; meanwhile, a star baseball player only bats once every 9 batters, and an elite starter pitcher only starts once every 4-5 days. These differences help contribute to the upsets we see every year come playoff time, which make every series a fun watch.
I disagreed with this entire video, but you made the best point of all. To add to that it puts more of the games on those players that come up in clutch. I would only say, I prefer to watch my favorite people play as long as possible but it does make for the upsets.
@@heethen112 what is there to disagree with the whole video if the dude is literally stating stats how the players were acquired and how munch money they make. Are you stupid?
Been a rays fan forever and have seems lots of good teams with them, this team is just different and it’s an honor watching a team as motivated and hungry as they are
I worked for the Rays organization in Venezuela for over 10 years. Before that, I worked with Houston, along with Andres Reiner, who later took me to the Rays. There is a million miles between each team in regards to appreciation for the staff, compliance with what was agreed upon and so many other aspects, that made me fall in love with the Rays organization, even the "big guys" back then (about 6 to 7 years ago), I am referring to Chaim Bloom, now General manager of the Red Sox, and so many others, made me feel like I belonged. Those guys made sure I knew the great job that was being accomplished. Back in those days (not so long ago), great talent was signed in the farm located in Guacara, Venezuela. Names like German Marquez (traded to Colorado), Alvarado (now with the Phillis), Omar Narvaez (now with the Mets), Chirinos (still with Tampa), Rene Pinto (currently in AAA, being called up many times during the 2022 season), among others who are still working hard to make it. There is no comparison......I mean, the vision Rays staff has, scouting every minor league team of other organizations and getting players underrated by those organizations is just awesome, not to mention the hard work and constant adjustments they are capable to teach the new comers, just turn most of them into diamonds....Today, all that patient work is certainly paying off. I must admit that I felt a bit disappointed when it was very clear that the Rays were not going to sign one or two proven batters to boost their offense.....they knew that most of last year players, injury free, were going to be at their best, also adding Lowe and Raley in the lineup was going to have an impact......Rays philosophy of baseball is unmatched by any other team in MLB, no matter the abundant resources they might have to sign anyone. I know it’s really early to predict, but Rays fans like me, are enjoying this moment to the fullest....
All the reasons you just listed are why other teams can hire away Rays executives and coaches but they can’t replicate the Rays way because their organizations have a different philosophy.
Reds fan here. Its been nearly 4 hours since the Reds defeated the Rays 8-1 in the first game of a 3-game series in Cincinnati. But, I'm not here to gloat. I like how you broke down some of the Rays' payroll. I know that the Reds have been taking a similar approach for years, but without results approaching anything near what the Rays have achieved to start this season. It's how a team responds after a game like the loss to the Reds that show that team's character. And, I like what I saw with the Rays! They didn't hang their heads, they didn't show defeat with their body language. It's a shame that the Rays don't draw fans at home any better than they do, because this team is worth the effort to drive over to that dome that they play in and watch a few of their games!
Don’t forget about Springs. We trade for him when he was essentially a nobody and now he could be an ace for a few teams. Unreal how they always find hidden talent
I live in downtown Tampa across from Amalie arena, I'm shocked at how little coverage this team is getting here, it was the Bucs w Brady, and always has been a Lightning town for good reason. Hopefully their new stadium and a world series title will get them the attention they deserve!
yep, we were calling up franco, and willy could not hit in the trop. His home to road splits were absolutely insane. Love Willy to death. I always find myself cheering for the brew crew when I’m not watching Rays games.
@@AR-ui1ht I feel the same. Willy Adames is such an amazing person, a clubhouse hero sorta guy. I really miss his presence but I think the trade worked out for both teams. We don't always need a "winner" and a "loser" anyways, I'm just glad we both came away looking better.
Love the video, and appreciate you hitting the nail on the head of Rays style of baseball. I do think the "Moneyball" term gets thrown around a bit due to it's media relevance though. The Rays are tremendous at drafting, trade for specific targets, have Potentially the best pitching staff in baseball and put players in a place to succeed. They're proving there's a way to dominate baseball if you focus on raw talent. It's infectious and I love it. #RaysUp
*RAYS UP BABY!!* I CAN’T BELIEVE WE ARE DOING THIS LOLLL 🤣🤣🤣 I went to the last Oakland game the other day and even with us playing like this, and having the smallest stadium - we still don’t sell seats. But I will always love my team !!!
Love the baseball content you're putting out, I can tell you're really into it so I'll definitely subscribe and watch whatever you got in the making. Keep up the good work bud.
Lets not get ahead of ourselves with making hyperbolic statements like "they broke baseball." They're 11 games in and haven't played a game against a team that is projected to finish in the top half of the league, with three opponents projected to finish bottom 25 in the league. I am pretty sure they'd look _at best_ slightly better than LAD, ATL, MIL, or NYY if they played similar schedules. That stuff aside, they deserve praise, and the stats in the video are impressive regardless of their schedule. They'll come back to Earth in a hurry when they face the best teams in the game.
@@bigtrainpaulin it’s right of the interstate in area that has no transit or downtown. It’s terrible to get there, if they moved to Tampa they’d be sold out most games
I remember seeing a few of the current Rays play for their AAA team, the Durham Bulls last year, just a month or so before they made the roster. With that, and everything explained I'm definitely mindblown.
I grew up a Sox fan but always loved the Rays even through their bad years. They always have one of the funnest teams to watch every single year without fail, and even when they suck they are always capable of sneaking up on you. This year is no different!
I started watching the Rays 2yrs ago after moving to FL from NY. They have some ball players on that team & their pitchers/bullpen is incredibly efficient
Excellent video. I have been a Rays fan since their first game. I am very happy about their performance. // One important item is that the Rays get everyone on the team to "buy in" to the Rays way. Players have to be ok with "part time" play, and getting pulled out or put into a game whenever the manager says. // Unfortunately, I think that cost them Game 6 of the 2020 World Series when they pulled Blake Snell from the game.
Baseball has a salary cap, but the big bucks teams ( i.e those damn Yankees ) pay a salary penalty which is divided back to the teams to help lower income teams. LET'S GO RAYS !!!
What I've learned as a die hard rays fan is trust the process. Everytimen Tampa makes a crazy ass trade we wonder what is going through the front offices head. But they work out every single damn time. Everytime. We don't play like everyone else. We don't manage like everyone else. And we for sure to spend like everyone else. And over the past several years it's seem to work for us. Yes we lost in the world series but we were in the world series. And we are consistently making the playoffs.
Keep your eyes on the prize guys. I remember when Cleveland had that 22 game winning streak and looked unstoppable and didn’t win. Season is early and slumps can happen.
Even now, they’re at 48 wins with a competitive edge throughout most matchups. The combination of stars, hidden gems, and great starting pitching has them in a great spot. Trust the process, and trust the front office with trade decisions. They seem off, but there are many long-term calls that have really benefitted this team especially this year!
Nice video, I’m new to baseball and I gotta agree, there’s a game within the game! Going to my first Yankees game againts the Rays in May, should be electric!!! ⚾️⚾️⚾️
Great video, there's so much said about the Rays and their talent acquisition/diamond in the rough style of player recruitment but, has anyone ever covered what they actually to do help these guys develop into Major Leaguers once they're in their Org? It can't just be that EVERY other MLB team doesn't see it and the Rays do, can it?
Tyler Glasgow is a good resource for this, since he has spent so long recovering from injury and being developed by the Rays pitching coaches. He has a bunch of interviews (Talkin Baseball with Chris Rose for example) that go into length about what makes Rays coaching special.
Love how the Rays go about their business, especially in drafting or aquiring very solid pitching! That starting staff and bullpen of theirs is sick and pure filthy! Imagine if they had a healthy Glassnow on top of what they have, and this kid Bradley making his ml debut another filthy arm! Amazing! 🙏💯💪
I'm a Mets fan first and foremost, but if I had a secondary team would hands down be the Rays. I LOVE the way the organization is ran, they produce so many amazing players and make amazing trades. It's an extremely well oiled machine and I just love this team.
As a long time rays fan I think a big factor to our players is that they feel wanted a lot of these guys were nobody’s so far down other teams rosters just there for a paycheck then they get brought to a team that believes in them and let’s them play ball there’s just something special about that if I were a player that would motivate me more than ever I mean think about it a couple years back people who weren’t rays fans didn’t even know some of these guys existed
I disagree. I think this team is Uber talented regardless of where they play, they’re just putting it all together because the pieces finally aligned. A lot of our young players got major experience in the WBC. Issac Parades, Arozarena, Rameriez, even aranda played some. We were actually healthy to start the year which was a major issue last year
@@jakestakes9075 I never said our team wasn’t talented it’s the fact that the organization gave them a chance to compete and play ball finding the diamond in the rough we’re often so focused on the stars like trout or ohtani that we forget how much hidden talent is out there our players aren’t flashy like the top stars but they get the job done and are very versatile everyone is on the team for a reason
Jays fan here. I hope you guys get more fan support. I was surprised to see that TB is 5th worst attendance avg this year so far. The 13-0 start should help. Good for baseball in TB and baseball in general. If this does not ignite fan support then management needs a better marketing team or the Rays need to move. If this does not do it then you might just have to win the World Series to gain this support which is unfair. All the best..well 2nd best...😉. Youve earned it with your low payroll.
As a Dodger fan, im.blown away by this team. The Ray's will undoubtedly set the run differential record, they may also set the wins record as well. Rays fans have an exciting season ahead.
They have 10 hitters with an OPS over 869, and multiple ace pitchers (not even including Glasnow when he gets back from injury). The offense is obviously not sustainable, but it's very promising. The pitching is absolutely legit, and I don't expect it to falter much throughout the season
Crazy to think they have been able to keep guys like Yandy, Randy, and Margot past 2020... If there is one thing the Rays do well its develop talent and poach other people's talent as they are about to be major league ready (not necessarily top prospects, some a little older). Their front office/farm system is what everyone should strive for!
I'm a Yankees fan living in Tampa. It's hard to cheer for a division rival, especially when all their fans hate your team (which I get). Even still I like to see them do well. They're a young, fun team that has been impeccably well run over the years. The Lightning is the cities team and it's playoff time, but I hope people start turning up to some games.
I think it's great to have such a diverse fanbase. It's hard not to like every team because there's something special about everyone. I'm a Rays fan, always have been, but I love Aaron Judge and Rafael Devers. I hope less people foster resentment towards rivals and started approaching the game as Baseball fans first and foremost.
The craziest thing about the Ray's to me is that if you took half of the team and put them elsewhere I don't even think they'd be half as productive which just speaks to how great they are at developing and coaching their players
I think this is definitely true for their pitchers, but they've actually struggled more with getting the most out of their hitters. Willy Adames is not a great example, because he was just bad at the Trop, but Nelson Cruz and Hunter Renfroe are just a couple of many examples of this.
I like how when someone gets hurt like Springs, they just replace him with another triple A calibre guy in Taj Bradley. The Rays are sooooo deep. Next man up mentality.
I mean it’s the easiest schedule to start a season with, but to the Rays credit, they have taken advantage. But before we crown them, let’s see how they look against teams that will finish the season with an above .500 record
The 3 best managed franchises I’ve seen in 30 years watching professional sports are/were the Tampa Bay Rays, the Golden State Warriors and Sky Pro Cycling. Every single organization that isn’t named above should take notes from them.
I moved to Tampa in 2018 and immediately became a Rays fan. They are soo much better than people realize. As others have said in this comment section, this didn't happen overnight. It's been a long time coming.
I am both a basketball and baseball fan and though I agree that baseball is more complex than basketball. You undermine how complex basketball is also, it's not as simple as you think it is. The main difference in basketball and baseball is the mere fact that a player can take over a game and carry a team unlike baseball where it is a collective effort by the entire team to win. Basketball also has small battles that are won like timeouts, defensive schemes, matchups and plays, etc. I can somewhat agree that the defensive side of basketball is more complex than baseball's defensive side, since it all revolves around pitching and batter's stats. No need to downplay each sport, I love both and would watch both sports.
We hit for power, we put the ball in play, we are fast and hustle and make things happen on the bases, we play excellent defense, and have one of the best pitching staffs if not the best in the mlb
