I'm likely in the minority and I know it's not respectful to speak i'll of the recently deceased but I never really liked Willie Mays. I can appreciate his gifts. My first baseball game was at the Stick in '67, Giants vs the Braves, so I kind of grew up with Mays. I even remember the bad talk show he had on 36 I think . Mays struck me as a man with two personas. One was the guy with a smile and another guy that was bitter and even a little mean. I have zero evidence for this except what i noticed in his aura or spirit or whatever you want to call it. I hope wherever he is he's resting and at peace with his soul.

Kyle is bulletproof. If you’re hating on Kyle, you’re an embarrassment. Do you remember the 1999 to 2011 and 2013 to 2017 seasons for the Niners? Neither does anyone else. They were PAINFUL to watch. You know how many teams make the championship game (and two Super Bowls) every year for four years straight? Two. Kyle and Andy Reid. Andy has Michael Jordan (aka Pat Mahomes) at QB. Kyle has had Jimmy Garroppolo, with a broken shoulder, and Mr. Irrelevant, Brock Purdy, who would have gone to two Super Bowls in a row if his arm was broken by Philly in the title game. If you give Kyle Shannahan a top 15 QB in the league, he gets you to the playoffs. If you’d prefer to go back to the Mike Singletary, Dennis Erickson, Jim Tomsula, Mike Nolan carousel at head coach, you should really become a AZ Cardinal, CIN Bengal, CLE Brown, NY Jet or CAR Panther fan. Those are the winning NFL franchises/ total tire fires in the NFL that change coaches every three years. I love this coach, this culture and this team. I’d take the Shanahan era over any post Steve Young, pre Joe Montana era in the past 50 years.

Man you guys are sounding more like Lombard everyday. As a 40by3ar nicer fan, yes, all teams we've had since our last SB are losers. There's only one first place. No one talks about the years they lost SB's. And no one has seen "the best team in the league " lose it all twice. Every other team outside of Kansas can say they over achieved when they win, but with "the best team on paper" anything other than the b3st is underachieving. It's not like we're talking about an unexpected team like Washington "got close". It's the team that's supposed to win, and never does. You're settling for mediocre, ick

Of course it's been upseting to see the 49ers get so close just to fall short, but at the end of the day I still realize it's only a game for our entertainment. This current 49ers' on-the-field product has been excellent and is still worth rooting for!
