I wonder who made famous "Poland - first to fight" poster. Cause it had certainly havent been made by any Pole. dimg.wprost.pl/_thumb/d1/1e/ecc91e365e970af546ea16a0abe7.jpeg Edit: I've checked and it was made in 41' by Polish artist Żuławski, but at first I was confused, as Polish war posters were mostly made in different art-style. Anyway I have an idea about a next episode - if you could show lesser known, but very important propaganda posters from other countries. It would be entertaining.
@RJDA 0704 if you're a patriot , you're literally a sheep . The video is literally telling you the government wants to coerce your thinking like sheep . So to support a Nation for the sake of it being your nation is being a sheep . The only people who aren't sheep are people who realize this is all one world and some people share your morals in different places around the globe and some don't .
The he’s watching you ones , were placed in factories that were more secretive , it was not intended for the general population but more so for people that had already had the importance of what they were working on drilled into there heads , factory’s working on say prototype aircraft and the like but even into place’s making something that’s as simple as rations because how it was done was unique for the time ,
When I went to the homefront museum on Saint Simons Island I actually got a poster that said : Do with less so they’ll have enough rationing gives you your fair share
I think US ww2 propaganda was different, because of the use of humor to ridicule the Axis, thus making them seem weaker. Apparently one film short using actual Nazi footage set to a Spike Jones (comedy musician) tune really angered Hitler.
I was discussing WW2 the other day with my dads best friend, and he said it best. We have it easy compared to what our grandparents went through, they lived through the Spanish Flu, WW1, the Great Depression, The Dust Bowl (which made them move from Oklahoma to California or Washington), then after all that to go fight in WW2. You couldn’t hardly get anything, everything was rationed, all the men were gone to go fight. Everyone was scared because for awhile we were getting our asses kicked, everything went towards the war effort because if the military lost then you were screwed. People nowadays have no idea what rough times are like, literally Coronavirus scared everyone to death
If we would've lost , we would've been fine . Governments get toppled all throughout history . They don't murder every citizen lol a new regime takes over and we adjust , just like any world power . Relax
@@royronson3275 That's why Roosevelt allowed Pearl Harbor to happen. He wanted to get at the Germans but needed an excuse. Ya, I know Germany declared war on us. But if they hadn't, we'd been in it anyway after Pearl Harbor.
@@garypulliam3740 yeah it was a pretext. They need every reason to enter the war. They were just waiting and looking for an excuse. The brits were terror bombing cities and AH refused to do it in return. He had always sought for friendship with British yet there was no reciprocation. Brits also wanted a war and were looking for an excuse.
@@rithvikmuthyalapati9754 🤣 I've watched that lame movie many times. I have a first class education in history and a Masters Degree. I'll trust my education over a lame movie any day. But thanks for your input.
Something iv thought about lately is the the character of Uncle Sam. I always liked him but i wondered why is that his name. Uncle Sam represents the US government obviously so it would sound weird if his name was Daddy Sam or Father sam, implying that the US government is your dad and thus more authoritative and that he owns you lmao. Going back to the traditional norm the father is usually seen as the one you love but fear while the uncle is the one who is your pal who gives you money or candy when your dad isnt looking and thus less threatening
I have some propaganda books that show mostly more military stuff than rather insults. Both of then we're published by Whitman 1 is a book about the US military (intresting thing is all of the art is actually ww1 equipment) the other has airplanes and some info on British, American, Soviet, German, and japanese planes. Edit: forgot to mention, they were probably distributed to schools as Whitman published comics, (most notably Disney comics but that was after the war) books, and other reading content aimed towards children.
I recall a poster of a Rosie the Riveter type woman. A sinister looking German with a monocle is reaching with one hand into her pocket and removing the secret plans. His other hand is reaching into her blouse. The caption read, "Loose Tits Sink Ships."
1984 was published in 1949, I'm not convinced the public at the time of WWII would have interpreted the latest poster as anything else but a German watching them. Nice vid otherwise, keep up the good work!
Can you do a video on Russian and Chinese propaganda? It's a big subject that expands everything these days, from Hollywood movies l, newspapers and even RU-vid.
It would be good to hear some thoughts on the Cold War Propaganda that followed. . . . and possibly a look into the history of Propaganda where did it originate and when was it most effective ? Do you think propaganda is still effective today as it was yesteryear ? I know Micheal Bay is cited by film students as being an American Propagandists with a huge fetish for American Military. But do you think he's effective or do you think it comes across as an imitation to most viewers ? ? ?
Probably not since RU-vid doesn’t refresh by itself But it’s still cool you got her early enough so you didn’t see the first comments!! (Or maybe you did make the first comment
Would like more of this especially if you start talking about how some artists or some of the art influenced alot to the culture we see today from dr.Seuss to looney tunes
When you go back and read text from that time period, and ignore the History Channel's propaganda, the US was dragged into war by Churchill and Stalin. FDR was also from a family of opioid criminals, which was the only reason FDR helped Chiang Kai Shek against Japan. You will also learn the Japanese didn't invade Korea, Korea agreed to be annexed, Manchuria was liberated by Japan and had the Qing Emperor restored. So Allied propaganda is WW2 mythology, not history.
@@freckleheckler6311 No, just not all directly caused by combat. Around 10 million or so civilian losses were due directly to military actions, but 8-9 million civilians died due to starvation and disease. But a LOT of the losses were due to Stalin being batshit crazy. You don't murder 12% of your most experienced commanders without serious repercussions when attacked by what the Germans through at them. Nor do you not have problems when you replace some of those experienced commanders with people who have zero combat experience. Also, about 75% of German military losses, were to the Soviets.
