Jesse and Luca take a closer look at how the Colorado Avalanche beat the Winnipeg Jets in the first round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. #nhl #nhlplayoffs
Sakic and Macfarland wouldn't have traded Bo Byrum straight up for a player if they didn't think that player would be a good fit. Mitts just has to learn how to play in a system that combines both his amazing instincts as a player with the structure of the Avs.
Out of all of the impressive stats that goalie has, only wins matter in the playoffs, and no one has more wins than Georgiev who had most for 2 straight years as an Av. I think Bednar knows he has winning ways cause he proven as Avs' last years MVP.
@@insertlastnameno he didn't, he played great. The team in front of him was empty, nothing left. But he had a .941 and 2.14GAA for the 7 games. You're remembering wrong
They were gonna play georgie in game 2 regardless of have juice or not. The only people who dont believe in Alexandar are haters or fans who cant comprehend the game
@@ianhuntercatfish as an Avs fan what is it with yall suddenly sucking off georgie like sure he’s made some key saves but let’s not kid ourselves and act like he’s a truly good goalie he’s serviceable because of the amount of scoring we have
Turning point of the AVS/Jets series came in game 1 when the score was 3-6. Yes, the AVS didn't win the game but they did clamp defensively down concerning leaving Gerogiev so exposed and they believed in themselves. From that point on, the Jets had no answer to the dominating AVS offense with multiple lines that could score.
After game 1 the Avs elevated their game to a level the Jets could only manage to do in short spurts. They were outskilled, outskated, outworked, outdefended, outgoaltended and outcoached in all 4 games! A good old fashion behind the shed butt-whooping! That said, the Avs will need to play at the exact same level next series, because their next opponent won’t be the lightweight the Jets turned out to be.
This might be the most aware talking-heads assessment of the series I have seen. Kudos for the clarity. I think you're a little hard on the Jets roster. I think the coaching was more to blame, but there were a lot of moments as an Avs fan where I think the Jets were a serious threat and the Avs *held on* but we're doing just that - holding on, and not dominating.
I don't think bowness will be back with family issues off ice. Trade Ehlers/iafallo for a top 2dman maybe like a Sanheim/Provorov. And let Perfetti have top 6 Winger. He hasn't worked at Center Jets need to aquire a 1b center like a Kadri,Horvat,Barzal,Reinhart, types you can always fill Winger positions through FA or Lambert/Chibrikov/Mcgroarty. Maybe team looks like this next year Connor Scheifele Villardi Perfetti 1BC Lambert Nino Lowry Appleton Barron Namestnikov Chibrikov Extra Gus,Kupari,? Sanheim Morrissey Demelo Pionk Samberg Heinola/Salomonsson Stanley Schmidt If we were able move a dman like Pionk to make room a younger player/FA it would be best he move on. Hellebuyck+ Reimer/Milic/Pickard/Comrie?
You missed the biggest point, the Jets defenseman were so scared of the avs speed they would back into their own net instead of holding the blueline and maintaining a good gap . This led to avs dominating possession. Its crazy how poor the Jets defenseman played the gap, it was a total failure they were either playing scared or there was some strange coaching instruction to give up the blueline and give avs players space going into your own zone. Ye sometimes you might look stupid against Mackinnon or Makar if you're maintaining a tight gap but this is absolutely basic defenseman stuff that they mangled the entire series, and as a defenseman I had to turn it off after game 3 it was too hard to watch my team fail something so basic regularly.
keep in mind that drouin was missing from the line up, and there is still a slight chance for a gabe return … But if georgie stays strong its gonna be a hard task to beat the avs, regardless of those other two players
Unfortunately, Landy may have played his last game in the 2022 SCF, something us fans probably need to accept. And yes, hopefully Drouin will be back in round 2 and was great that the Vegas LTIR's and Stars are going to a game 7, giving Drouin more time. The AVS clicking the way they did in round 1, seems very similar to the AVS' 2022 cup win. I'd even argue the AVS might be a better team this cup run. Yes, hard to replace what Kadri did but both Val and Artturi are looking like playoff monsters!
@@user-hj8lu5of4b Yes, understood but it is also being reported that the type of skating he is doing does not currently compare to what kind of skating is required to be competitive in the NHL. I hope as much as everyone else Landy will be back.
Every year I watch the Jets and every year they look great until some moment where something goes wrong and their playoff campaign goes off a cliff. It's a shame.
The Avs followed my keys to victory: Try to score more goals than your opponent in AT LEAST four of the seven games played, preferably in as few games as possible whilst simultaneously preventing your opponent from doing the same.
Bowness doesn't adapt. He is past coaching the modern NHL playoff hockey. I am an Avs fan and appreciated the Jets playing the same way for 5 straight.
jesse big mouth closed pretty quick after game 2 didn't it lmao christ look like he kept trying to take a pic of the back of his throat in that game one video
They were the best defensive team in the league in the regular season... It's not a "narrative" as much as it's just a fact... What people are debating now, is if the Avs are JUST that good... Or did the Jets collapse, or a bit of both? It's a bit of both IMO. Over 82 examples this season, this team gave up fewest goals, but playoffs are a different animal entirely, we all know that... Reffing ALWAYS changes, and had some god awful missed calls on Colorado throughout this series, that could've and should've atleast roughly evened out the PP opportunities... But that's not why we lost this series. We just weren't even close to the best team in this series with the eye test alone. Stats all aside... They had studs come playoffs... Our studs were SO few and far between, and spurty if they showed up at all... (Edit: *AND a TON of credit* needs to go to Colorado for the fact they; A) Scored the most goals in the regular season if I'm not mistaken... B)Credit needs to go to Avs goalie in particular for completely erasing his issues after game one... His whole team adjusted, and he did as well... C) Our fricken fans unfortunately did not, and almost certainly will not learn the lesson they should already know from last year, that chanting shit at the other teams goalie is NOT a good idea ... *(Crap like "Bucky's better" directed at Brossoit...before he re-resigns here a couple months later...) is REALLY FRICKEN DUMB IN HINDSIGHT!!!* Beyond the superstition/jinxing/asking for trouble issue I have with it... You're just giving the other team, and the other goalie in particular extra motivation. They're pros. You're treating them like a joke because you're winning game 1 of a series... Our fans get WAY too excited and ahead of themselves sometimes... If fans can have any real outcome during live games on a series, id bet it's doing stuff exactly like this... Its like the Jets fans who LOVE to crap on the leafs... Its like god damn... I LOVE my jets, but look in a mirror first! We are the LAST fanbase who should laugh at the leafs for anything ATM. We've got more then enough issues to still deal with first...
