Far ahead of their time in the sixties is like saying Bach was ahead of his time in the 1700’s or Mozart of Beethoven in the 1800’s . Great music may have been written at any time ,and is not defined to just the period they composed in . It’s timeless …
No one else was doing what they were doing. Although there was other amazing music in the charts at the time, The Beatles stood out way above all the rest.
This song just makes me heckin excited when I listen to it. Uncontrollably excited. I literally can't stop myself from making sudden movements and smiling ear to ear.
@@MysterD515 -When their mediocrity(by their standards)is so damn good-Baby Your A Rich Man-Baby's In Black-Savoy TruffleDon't Pass Me By--Good Day Sunshine etc... then you are probably right.
I saw a pic of Jane and Paul at some black-tie event from a few years ago. Both 70+ and looking reasonably comfortable being photographed together. (Spouses off on the sidelines somewhere, I suppose.) Paul is probably grateful that Jane steadfastly refuses to sell, or tell, her story.
Buddy Neher interesting. I had wondered if they had ever talked to each other or met face to face over the years after their breakup. Not sure why I wondered that. I’m sure she sent him her condolences after Linda died, for instance.
@Tim Webb Hey had Paul NOT died. the impostor would not have written I've just seen a face. or Let it Be or get Back , or Let it Be. THANK GOD Paul "died" you fucking idiot.
@@mickavellian I've Just Seen a Face is by Paul I on the Help album. I wish there was a video of him actually playing and singing it, but I can't find any.
I love how Paul describes it as pulling you forward since it such a dynamically structured meter. It's in trochaic octameter and each rhyming word of the couplets are accented by being left on unresolved feet at the end of the line. This gives the song its momentum. I imagine this scene as a young Paul who is so excited that he can't even stop for breath to tell his friends about someone he likes. This song is aggressive and brave and just really captures what a racing heartbeat feels like.
The song is definitely not overlooked by true Beatles fans - those who know their song catalog well. It’s greatly appreciated 😊 I think Paul knows we love it because he plays it in concert every so often
“I’ve just seen a face I can’t forget the time or place where we just met she’s just the girl for me and I want all the world to seen we’ve met...hmmm hmm hmm hm hm hm....”
I've always wondered who performed the acoustic figner picking apreggiating intro to the song? It smacks of Paul, but maybe could have been George, though not his style. Anybody know?
Yes you are correct....the lyrics keep pulling you forward......this song to me seems similar to And Your Bird Can Sing....which I know is a John song but they always make me think of the other song
+@@AndyFilms2000 Act Naturally. Wouldn't say I really dislike it, I just don't like it as much as the other ones. But not because Ringo's a bad singer (he's actually really good)
So with you and not without you 😁😀 . Also one of my favourit songs , while the whole help album is perfect . 4 young lads and 2 of them are the last greatest songwriters of all time to me . By the way ...... love i just seen ........ but that little guitarsolo makes it compleet , together with the hhhmmmm hhhmm and la la la la ☺☺☺ Greetings from belgium and pardon my bad spelling Please .
So manny songs the beatles wrote . if i can find 20 worse songs of 237 beatles songs ........ i know them all , and to be honoust . I counted 10 songs i didnt like . Thats what i call craftmanship in songwriting . Not to forget george martin to ......... he realy was the 5th beatle . Greetings from belgium , pardon my bad spelling Please
Even as a kid and not knowing anything about music. I was blown away by "I've just seen a face" and I immediately know THIS is "something else" and I want to be a musician. And I STILL marvel at the complexity of the song. I never know it was a fast production because it is such an intricate piece of music just the intro and the pacing of the vocals were so complex it is hard to imagine that it was recorded in the same session as YESTERDAY. BTW You may be wrong as to the "Brushes" part . Ringo is clearly keeping a country tempo with a cross stick on the rim. The same as he did in "Tell me what you see"
The HollyHobs have now joined the hacker's elite group. This morning I asked "Alexa" to play the Hollies. The reply came back "Playing the HollyHobs off Spotify".
Does anyone else hear a little hint of Michael Nesmith in this song. Perhaps a little Beatles influence on the Pre-Fab Four, Nesmith. And a little Simon and Garfunkel (the Boxer).
It was the first song, and maybe the best, on the American Rubber Soul LP and was perfect for that album! Don't know why it's not on the CD Rubber Soul.
It’s a brilliant song! It has a great melody and lyric. And it has a country style chorus. Wrapped very tightly like a Coil. My cousins favorite Beatle song! She used to play it over and over. That’s the best way to describe it. Nobody today writes like this! Nobody can.
Help is such a great beautiful album . Each album from the beatles is a classic . ( except Please Please Please me , which is average to me . But you can hear the potential ) help sounds to me very refreshing , also more eyes on songwriting . With the beatles was rock n roll , soul , blues ,americana . With other words ..... help is the crown of the live beatles . Please dont count rubber soul with live gigs . They played maybe 2 songs of rubber soul if i m correct . Everything is in ballance on help .... ........ then they went to there psychedelic era . Which era do you like ? Pr 66 or post 66 . Yes you may give youre opinnion on paul is dead or not dead . I'm here for music and opinnions which i respect . Please pardon my bad spelling
*SOG HORIZON* Considering *Yesterday* is on that album you might be on you're own there? I might put *It's Only Love* at no.2 but it depends on my mood. I've always liked *I've Just Seen a Face,* it's a great song.
I always got the impression that this song was inspired by Bob Dylan, folk-rock being a big thing at the time. McCartney could write in so many styles. There are times I've wished he hadn't, but not in this case.
I've Just Seen A Face is a terrific song, way underrated I think, Norwegian Wood follows perfectly. I prefer the US Capital release to the UK Parlophone. Better flow.
.*No* "i've just seen a face is a "help" song, flows much better with "yesterday" , "rubber soul" is a lie, Help uk album is the most underrated lp ever, beatles for sale is fairly rated, help is as underrated as how overrated is rubber soul
Auntie Gin really has Paul’s ear. Wasn’t it Auntie Gin who said she was sick of silly love songs or was that a different relative? There’s a photo of Jane here that really reminds me of Paul’s second wife.
This review vainly ignores the performance of George Harrison who not only gave this song its texture and harmonics but forever popularized the 12-string guitar in the process. In retrospect many critics confirm the belief that great as this band was, its Harrison playing guitar at another level that accounts for much of the magic.
I’ve always thought Jane Asher was better looking than Linda. But being an actress she had her own career and I guess Paul really didn’t like that as she was always on location filming movies.
Too bad they never did this live. Maybe it was too hard a bit of stage management to go all acoustic for one song. The track seems like it was sped up a little. Maybe recorded in Ab and moved up to A. He sings it live these days in G.
this song will always be part of rubber soul thanks to us in America being victimized by that idiot at CAPITOL. but he did accidentally make a better tracklisting for this one LP-insert a long essay about folk rock and shit here -
