I love it too, but I also kinda cringe when I see it,l. The boys are not the best of friends... Imagine their conversation while the girls are underwater.
Ash's reaction was the best. He didn't freak out or anything, even if he knew something was going on, he didn't force Emma to tell him. When she did, he just accepted it.
@@daz5491 exactly, I definitely didn’t like how will went about it practically forcing the secret out of her by splashing water on her arm. Also later when he seems to be more interested in her as a mermaid then her as a person.
Uhh you're forgetting that Ash tried to force Emma into the water to get over her *fear* of the water. She had to tell him not to multiple times as he was holding her over the water. He did stop but, still he was pushing it when she said she didn't want to get in. He had no idea she was a mermaid. Will had some idea about Bella and wanted to test to find out. She was about to stop talking to him because he was so close to finding out. Yeah the way he went about it was bad.
@@ScarlettJones96 But Ash was just trying to help Emma cause he knew she used to swim. Maybe it wasn't the best way to help her, but his intentions were good. What Will did was just selfish.
Rewatching this made me realize how dr denman and Harrison had no problem detaining and possibly experimenting on minors. Especially Zane’s dad who is in business with Emma’s parents
Yes and that makes me angry because she is a marine biologist and I want to be a marine biologist she's not a good example for other biologists in that show so I hope the one's living there will not know about. her. They even held lewis captive?! I wonder what her goal was. Success? Fame? Whatever it was, it can't just be knowledge.
The best one is when Zane finds out she's a mermaid for the second time!!! So sweet how he immediately protects her from Nate seeing and then knows she'll be at Mako and sees her in full mermaid form and tells her that he can handle keeping the secret and wants to be with her and they kiss!! Soooo cute!!
@Brein Wallace this show came out more than a decade ago. If you haven’t seen it by now then that sounds personal and this is literally a video full of spoilers lmao
This show is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. The acting and writing was just so bad but it's honestly such a delight to watch. Tbh, Rikki's and Zane's relationship actually felt like legit good writing or like three-dimensional characters interacting.
Ricky and Will chemistry i remember to be really good, they missed an opportunity there. And the idea of the show was SO good, whats why it worked! despite the terrible acting and writing lol
@@dani010203stor Yeah I agree with their chemistry though I liked them just as much as friends you know? It was actually really interesting how respectful and protective he could become for Rikki, but how he splashed water over Bella 😅😂
The writing actually isn't that bad. The dialog might be cringy at times but the characters are great. They are believable with distinct personalities and flaws. They grow and evolve, including the supporting cast. Emma losing her ability to compete, Cleo being in denial, Ricky learning to trust others, Luis coming to terms with his feelings, Zane's transformation, Charlotte LOSING HER FREAKING MIND. The list goes on. All the conflicts in the show seem pretty organic cause they stem from the setting or the character traits which is a sign of a very competent writing.
Lewis-Confused and scared but eventually warmed up Zane-Shocked and horrified Ash-Cool Will-I am sorry The boyfriends truly have different personalities just as their respective girlfriends.
I’ve always thought the most magical thing about them is their clothes. Where do they go when the tail is out. Do they disappear? Is there a pocket that they teleport to in the tail?
Finding out there's still a fandom for some random Australian mermaid show I was addicted to over a decade ago isn't something I knew I needed until this moment lmao
I'm allergic to chlorine and lowkey worried someone might do this to me. I usually don't even get near pools though bc just the smell is bad enough. long story short don't do this cuz you could cause medical issues for a lot of reasons
I feel like this just shows how annoying of a character they made Will like he clearly only cared about learning more about the mermaid part of Bella🤦🏾♀️
I recently rewatched the show. Seriously even though Will ends up dating Bella they are a terrible couple. Aside from the mermaid/swimming stuff they have no chemistry. Even though I am a huge Zane and Ricki fan, Ricki and Will definitely have more chemistry than Bella. I think Bella couldn’t let go of her crush either to see that Will never liked her too much
I love all the guys except for Will. He wasn’t very respectful to Bella and kept pushing and manipulating her into telling him. Zane was cool with me because when he realized he had hurt and betrayed his girlfriend, he makes an effort to get her to forgive him. He felt guilty and regretted wanting to reveal that mermaids are real. And that was enough for me to know that he cares and loves Rikki very much. With Ash, yes it was rushed, but it also showed how much Ash respects and loves Emma as well. Unlike Will, Ash never pushed Emma to tell him the truth. He waited for her to be ready to tell him one day and when that day did come, he accepted it wholeheartedly with no questions asked. All 3/4 of the boyfriends showed different reactions to when they first found out and when they accepted it and just loves the girls. Lewis, was scared and shocked at first but ultimately accepted it and had helped, not just cleo, but all of the girls. Zane, was shocked and regretful of what he was doing that hurt Rikki, but he accepted her wholeheartedly and the second time around when he finds out again that she is a mermaid once more. Ash, was surprise with Emma’s secret but immediately accepts it because he just loves Emma like that. No questions asked. Just accepts it with a smile. Will, was manipulative for me and never had respected Bella when she said no to telling him the secret.
I agree with this. Will is definitely my least favorite. I didn’t care for Zane that much but I will admit he had sweet and loving moments. Something that made me really hate Will is after he found out about Bella, he started only talking about how she’s a mermaid and acted as if that’s the only thing there is about her. Now I will admit, Zane was definitely going a bit overboard with challenging Will. He nearly killed him. But overall Will was just a bad character, especially when it came to his sister.
agree with you but Zane is definitely manipulative as well. The way he sometimes says unforgivable things like when he told Rikki in season 2 that he could tell other people about her mermaid identity if she doesn't stay together with him was horrible. And him then apologizing is just him noticing that he can't get her that way... while Will was pretty rude and pushy I find Zane more manipulative...
I found it weird that the parents never found out on accident. Like Cleo never washing the dishes. Also how did Cleo never get wet working in a marine park. They can’t always hide but still one of the best shows on nick
Plus she used the excuse that her mom drowned (or smth like that,i might be mistaken) so its genuinely not a phobia, just more like scared and remember she did pay her sister to do her chores for her
I always hated that we never find out if Emma and Ash stayed together or not after she went traveling with her family now that he knows her secret - or if she ever told her family.
For some reason I always think that Emma told her family when she went on a holiday because there'd be no way to avoid it and she stayed with Ash. Actually I always think he went with her cause we never saw him again lmao
@@xmidnightx2520 yeah like Phoebe and Claire are in the originals and tvd together and Cariba already made an appearance so she's obviously down to come back
Will is a textbook example of an abusive boyfriend. He’s manipulative, does not respect boundaries, and gaslights to get what he wants. Run girl 🏃♀️ or swim 🧜♀️
thats why i didnt like him. i didnt really like Bella tho either. she threw off the entire series for me. i didnt really like any new comers in season 3 except for Sam. she was decent.
One thing I loved about when they transformed into mermaids, their skin was always glistening and they always had lipgloss on lol Also the first time Lewis helped Cleo she reached her hand out to him. The second time when she had gotten trapped under water with the sharks, he reached out his hand to her. I just notice that
The ocean is scary though.😭😭😭 I probably wouldn't leave town either. I'd be chilling in sea caves somewhere. I used to want to be a mermaid so bad until I saw all the documentaries about all the crazy stuff down there
@@Sara-dp5dg I wouldn't worry about the crazy stuff down there but more the plastic and trash /: Imagine swimming and suddenly seeing one of those big big trash areas swimming in front of you. Or getting caught up in something
It must've been so fun to pretend to be a mermaid and get an actual mermaid tail and have people play (act) along, like, I imagine it can't only have been my childhood dream. Must've been others
I remember an interview where one of the girls said they HATED the tails because they were so heavy and you couldn’t walk anywhere and they took so long to get on and off
The fact that two of the actresses went on to feature in TVD and the originals lol Whenever I see Rebecca or Hayley it’s so weird to then imagine them back when they were mermaids 🧜🏻♀️
I used to watch H2O when I was a kid so it was weird for me when two mermaids from my childhood turned up as a werewolf and a vampire but also exciting because Yay Australians!
Yeah haha,I only actually noticed when my friend was watching TVD with me one day and pointed it out saying “omg get out the water Cleo” in an Australian accent 😂
Yeah,For me it happens to me that it separated them, I know they're the same actresses but i see them as different characters although sometimes it comes to me as the click that,oh they're Cleo and Emma and if it's a little weird
this is how you know Will is awful. yea Zane isn't perfect but he didn't force her to show him things especially how obvious Bella made it that he was getting too much and it was making her uncomfortable dudes...1k likes? thanks😊
@@zurvanmooney4940 Uh, dude manipulate and forced Bella into having no choice but to share her secret and that wasn't enough and he manipulated Cleo when he found the location of Rikki when she was kidnaped into finding out all 3 girls were mermaids.
@@angelaustin6545 yes, nobody talks about the fact that he literally forced her into knowing her secret. She told him no multiple times but he still insisted he needs to know for whatever reason.
@@daz5491 in Will’s defense, Bella came after him to begin with. If she didn’t want him to know her secret, she should’ve kept her distance to begin with. Also, how could they be a couple if she’s not gonna be honest with him?
@@zurvanmooney4940 WTF reasoning is that?? With that reasoning she shouldn't get close to anyone ever! No matter their relationship, no one is required to share all or any of their secrets! It's not her fault in the slightest! Before it gets confusing: It's good to be honest in a relationship but you shouldn't push someone when they're not ready to reveal something!
How can't Cleo, Rikki, Emma and Bella even trust their own parents to tell them about their mermaid secret if they least can trust some of their boyfriends?! This is what I especially dislike about the TV show.
All of their boyfriends, except for Ash, found out by accident. Maybe they don't feel comfortable enough sharing such a big part of their lives with their parents. Besides, Elliot and Kim literally tried to expose their sisters for being mermaids without even trying to talk to them. It didn't cross their minds how harmful that decision could've been for the girls.
@@ralucabucsoiu6696 Elliot and Kim are literally children. of course it didn't cross their minds. the girls however (unless not trusting their parents for a VERY GOOD REASON) i feel like should've told their parents FIRST, and then their boyfriends. but thats just imo
Thank you!!! I have thought about this for a long time. How could they trust boyfriends over the very people who gave them life? That still baffles me. Y’all realize how much conflict they could have avoided if they just told their parents what’s going on?
Just had this thought. Being a mermaid, you could never shower again snd you’d have to a tub, especially one big enough to fit you. My bathroom could never lol. Snd then the struggle of getting out to dry off.
Missing the scene where Zane discovers for the second time that Rikki is a mermaid and protects her from Nate! Zane is definitely the best male character, I love his developement!
6:07 I never realized how weird this scene is. I mean, the guys who can’t pretty much stand each other (Lewis and Ash with Zayn) gathered to watch their girlfriends leaving for a swim to a far-away island... but whatever, it was ok for me as a kid so fine
I just love how they swore not to tell anyone ESPECIALLY THEIR PARENTS...but then when Zane and Lewis accidentally found out Emma was like "ya know what lemme tell my bf too"...Like girls, boys come and go. You guys might not stay together forever and if that happens your bf can rat expose you. But family, that's forever. They will make sure you are protected. Ladies you could have at least told your parents ahahahaa
i’ve said it before, but we should get a new show, but have it be about Mrs Chatham (Chatom?) and her friends when they were young! i’d love to see that
Brings back memories. This is actually such a cool show. A brilliant mermaid based show. Nothing has even come close to it when comes with mermaids. Not even mako mermaids - it felt too cheesy and dramatic for me.
I still think Chris' reaction to Mimmi being a mermaid (from 'Mako Mermaids') was the best reaction! The dude freaking jumped in the water and kissed her afterwards.
He didn't have anything to doubt lol, the episode was about to end. Neither were to star in the next season anyway so it was just a "let's get this over with" moment
I just realized how did they lock the girls in so quickly in that cave they weren't even in there for that long and they couldn't have locked it fast enough to be secure.
Tbf they already found out about the girls. It was just a matter of waiting for them. The people under water could have easily been hiding behind corals waiting and i'm pretty sure,if they werent good at their jobs, they wouldn't have been hired
i’m still sad that they didn’t end up together and tbh i feel like season two (or three i don’t remember) they ruined them just for the plot even though they were great together.
Lewis was the best one on he found out because he didn't judge or anything and he kept the secret and as for Zane he may be rude at times but he does have his moments of being nice and keeping a secret and as for ash he didn't force the girls to reveal the secret and when she finally did he was okay with it and as for will he was pretty much selfish and forced her to reveal the secret
Yeah from there they got rid of one of the main trio and just sorta tried to immediately replace emma (going so far as to even just give the new trio necklaces to replace the originals) completely destroyed Zane and Ricky’s relationship, there was just a lot that was sorta disappointing
@@neflufv6392 yess Season 3 was my least favorite bcuz there were so many changes (and I hate changes lol) also I don't remember seeing Ms. Chatham is Season 3 and I rlly liked her character tbh
Will was disappointing. I love how the others were chill about it and my fav part was when the girls went to swim while the boyfriends were watching from the beach.
I think they were a bit panicked. Wouldn't you be? Your biggest secret has been found out by a scientist who has you trapped and is apparently eager to catch you and experiment on you. I wouldn't exactly be thinking clearly either. Besides, even if they did think of it, they can't exactly kick it down with their tails
@@blond009 But they are still teenagers, who are not just in a threatening situation, but a situation that could result in them being locked in a lab for the rest of their life as a scientist tries to figure out how to use them as if they weren't human. You have to remember that aside from the powers they gained as mermaids, they are still regular teenage girls who don't have to regularly put their life on the line. Not many people think crystal clear in an emergency, it's why they are always chaos until the people trained for them take over. The girls are not trained in how to escape from a mad scientist
