Browns fans are looking at a bunch of QBs everywhere else who have MUCH LESS to work with than Baker has all these years and are basically saying "why can't you do that?" With that O-line, running game, D-line, and somewhat of a receiving core, there's NO reason Baker can't at least sniff the postseason every year. And before you blame his coaches, I've seen plenty of bad coaches get rings because of top-tier QBs (example: Andy Reid) and before you blame injuries, Baker should've sat down, let Keenum take over for a bit, recover, and come back stronger than ever. Instead, he let his stubbornness and pride get in the way and it cost that GOLDEN playoff-ready roster yet another season. Fans are tired of waiting around as the team dissolves slowly and painfully year after year, they want results, and many of them can tell that Baker will not give them the results they want unless he grows up and plays as a team or gets out. Oh, and Stefanski's not off the hook either. There is NO reason an injured QB should throw twice as much as the RBs run per game with THAT running back core, with FOUR star RBs that you can easily cycle through. Stefanski should also be on the chopping block, and if he pulls this "pass twice as much as we run" crap again next year, he needs cut, ONE playoff win or not.

Because he should've sat down and let Keenum take over. Not only that, but he had ONE solid year with a playoff win. that's it. In a league overrun with next-level QBs who make it to the playoffs with FAR LESS than what Baker has, and they do it every single year, he needs to step his game up. If he can't, take a walk.

Given how fucked our legal system is, often times civil suit are the only recourse for individuals to get justice and I believe that his career should be put on hold until it's resolved. As soon as reports emerged the Browns were interested in trading for Watson Baker Mayfield Tweeted his goodbye to Cleveland. So thats not technically correct. Mayfield did quit the team as soon as he learned it was pursuing another option at quarterback, which for the NFL is normal for every position on the team to deal with being replaced or challenged for the job. Were the Browns forced to get Watson after Mayfield's Tweet? I think so and I am pretty sure that is what helped the contract and guaranteed money get so bloated to change Watson's mind. No going back to Mayfield with his heart broken.

I'm a Vikings fan (but follow Browns being from NE Ohio), but the Browns are making a mistake if they move on from Mayfield. The first true franchise QB they've had since returning in 1999. It literally took them 20 years, after going through guys like Tim Couch, Luke McCown, Charlie Frye, Derek Andersen, Seneca Wallace, Spergon Wynn, Brandon Weeden, etc. Takes them to their first playoff appearance in nearly twenty years, first playoff win in nearly 30. Then follows it up with a down year, because he's dealing with multiple significant injuries, and his OL, receivers, and running backs were all banged up. Factor in the fact that he's never had a true #1 WR (OBJ at this point in his career is a very good #2; and Landry while good and reliable, is just a possession/slot guy - one of the best in the league, but not a true #1 WR), and most of the Browns pass-catchers have struggled with drops (Njoku and Peoples-Jones have to have two of the most inconsistent pair of hands in the game). Give Baker a year with Cooper (an actual #1 WR), draft him a stud WR in the 1st round, and with their line and running game (provided they stay healthy), the Browns will be right back where they were in 2020, competing for the NFC North. People that believe the Browns were a "Super Bowl roster" last year, are a tad bit delusional. The best way to be a Super Bowl contender is to be a consistent playoff team, because you can't get to the Super Bowl if you can't get to the playoffs. If the Browns stay the course with Mayfield, they can be that consistent playoff team, and once they're in the dance, it just takes a string of 3-4 good games to get that Lombardi.
