The comics by Boom! Studios were ambitious. They wanted to fill in the gaps of the tv series, while simultaneously telling new stories with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. What they came up with is probably the biggest thing to happen to Power Rangers in a long time. This is how it begins.

You mean the kids that regularly spend all of their time at the community center? If people go missing during the Black Dragon's attack or any attack on Angel Grove for that matter. It's a pretty safe assumption that they either died or were displaced by the giant Mecha/Kaiju attack on their city.

I absolutely love that the comics actually addressed Tommy's PTSD and trauma from Rita's brainwashing. And actually showing the team struggling to adapt to it's (unwitting) newest member and move past the whole "I tried to kill you" thing, incredible.

The only character in the series who has PTSD is Jenn from Time Force. It takes her almost the entire season to make peace with herself

@@jorgep19651 IDK, one of the storylines in Season 2 of MMPR involved Jason dealing with the guilt of letting Tommy lose his powers twice. Granted, White Light and being put on the bus (to the peace conference) kind of killed that aspect, but it did come up again in Zeo (King for a Day), I think.

@@kyleg5950 The comic starts with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Issue #0. It started in 2016, so it might be listed as MMPR(2016) in some places. Then a companion series was started AFTER mmpr that's set BEFORE it, detailing the stuff the rangers got up to before Tommy joined. That's called Go Go Power Rangers. I read most of that after I read Shattered Grid. But you could also read it before. Towards the end of Go Go, it shows events immediately following Shattered Grid, so the read order gets all wonky. But there's guides to help with that.

The intro to this series was brilliant. Tommy being a loner and suffering from ptsd really fleshes out his character. Jason was always the stereotypical leader, I enjoyed Tommy being on the outside looking in .

For people wondering where they can read this, they can buy the Rise of Drakkon graphic novel. It's a prequel to the Shattered Grid storyline. I suggest buying both Rise and Shattered Grid for a good time.

Man this video is a fuckin trip if you only have passing familiarity with Power Rangers. There’s something called a dragonzord, and they fight something related to that on the moon, and something causes the rangers to lose their powers except one because his power works differently to their power coins, and like apparently some of the rangers are exploded into a different dimension with some Lord Drakkon. So many buzzwords that I have NO idea what they mean lmao

A lot of people don’t know about the PR comics. Check them out they’re good and have interesting storylines. The shows are good but not as much as the comics
