This delay was actually a good thing. It showed the way politicians in D.C. just play post office, and never really get anything done until the last possible moment with their backs against the wall. And after taking an inordinate amount of time to decide something that should have taken literally moments to do.
Ridiculous comment, they (MAGA Republicans) were looking out for concessions that were good for the American people, and possibly even protect them from the NeoCon Bush / Cheney derived RINO's (for example Kari Lake got absolutely no funding from the Republican Party for her Arizona race, and she wasn't alone.)
There never really was a "last possible moment" with this. McCarthy finally gave in to the concessions of the Freedom Caucus and they still didn't vote for him, but gave 6 present votes.
The same guys who forced him to make the concessions. That was the whole point. Do you honestly think they're going to shut up now? Would you? McCarthy knows he's being checked.
Enough to neuter McCarthy which is a good thing 3 out of 9 chair positions which are essential to setting g house rules such as how lo g a bill must be debated on and when it can be voted on. All good things that limit congress from just shoving these trillion dollar Bill's and destroying the US
All it took was completely conceding to MAGA, the support of "is that really his name" Santos, and 15 tries. Great job, McCarthy! You're off to a fantastic start!
@@rconger384 They vote on the rules of the House after the Speaker. Things like being able call the Speaker into vote with only 1 voice will be in that package.
On taking the oath should he have said "so help me God" and not just "yes I do". I do not think he can be trusted. OK, so all you need to say is I do. I still do not think he can be trusted. All the deals that needed to be made, how can that oath be kept to the constitution an not to those he made deals with. All those deals need to be investigated. Do they compromise the oath to the constitution.
Why don't you wait and see what he does next? The process showed he had to cave to "the rebels." You should be motivated by that instead of doom and gloom. He'll be scrutinized more than any speaker in history.
The sad truth here is the American citizenry these elected officials are there to support can't help but feel disconcerted. Far too much is not transparent. Too much gamesmansship, dealmaking goes on behind the scenes and So much time, money and effort is wasted when the work of the nation sits abandoned. I believe the process on how this moves from one speaker to the new speaker needs to be updated/revised to disable this kind of protracted haggling vote taking to happen again. Not about good governance not sure what this was supposed to prove.
There were 6 who did not vote, just replied as "present" which lowers the overall number of votes cast, so with each present vote it was 1/2 less votes needed. 6 present meant 3 less votes needed to win majority (more than half of the votes cast)
I have. Hence, my comment. 14 votes? 👀 They didn't vote him in, because he made concessions. They don't like him either. They are untrustworthy 🍕💩s too!
I met expert Megan last year for the first time at a conference in New York City, I invested $24,000 and traded in one month making close to $94,450, I am happy that I took the step to success by trading with Megan. You know ignorance can be the worst thing and mistake that most people always do***
This is the day Matt gaetz in talking about McCarthy not doing what they agree to Lauren boebert and Matt gaetz alzack vote for McCarthy until he agrees do what he's just done that's why McCarthy needs the boot
