I've decided to try my hand at a video essay on something that really changed my life. The path that The Legend of Vox Machina sent me on led me to becoming a content creator. I love this show, and hope you give it a shot.
Disclaimer i'm not a licensed therapist, though i present information provided by one.
I'm very interested to see what you think and welcome any constructive criticism if you've got it. Thanks to any who are already subscribed, it means a lot.

I recommend this show to everyone precisely because it is one piece of media that might just change your life. Worst case, you get a great show that is a fun romp. But maybe you find a new group of friends and family.

The way that the friendship and storytelling of CR has rippled out into the world and touched so many is one of the main reasons I'm proud to call myself a Critter. However folks discover this universe and the love behind it, be it liveplays, animation, comics, or the algorithm throwing a curveball and opening a rabbithole, the end result is the same, a new voice added to the story being told at this giant table, and a new thread connecting people. Lighting one candle with another doesn't diminish the first, and the light that this silly little group of nerdy-ass voice actors has put into the world gets brighter every day. They really are leaving the world better than they found it. CR got me through some of the roughest years of my life, and it definitely changed it (and me) for the better. Thank you for sharing your experience :)

Vax and The Raven Queen's arc help me reconciled and accept the death of my mother. Not so surprising when you know it did the same for Liam O'Brien (Vax creator and voice actor).

@@garayworkshop i also found solace in the way that Vax became her champion, and the acceptance of his own sacrifice. Vax gave everything for his loved ones.

I heard a story from an ex-gang member where he managed to get the local leaders of rival gangs to sit down and play a homebrew game that took place in their city. By the time the campaign was over two years later, they realized how childish they'd had been and all quit their respective gangs. D&D really does work wonders.

@@jacobryanjosephmorrison A small DnD focused channel here on RU-vid made a great mini-documentary on ttrpgs in U.S. prisons, I can't remember anymore details than that but searching DnD in Prison might turn it up.

Critical Role saved me. I don't think I could have made it through the last decade without them. Now extremely proud to have always been a supporter and ultimately a kickstarter. Happy to bankroll more seasons if necessary, the investment has paid off multitudes already.

When I tell my family stories about how Critical Role "saved people's lives" with their content, they look at me as if I grew a second head. They refuse to believe how a show, let alone THIS kind of show, could actually "save" people in a way professionals should

Started watching CR itself last spring after first 2 seasons of LOVM. I am now on 121 of Mighty Nein, and have met all of CR, half of them twice. :)

I started watching Vox Machina at a difficult time when I was home alone, sick with COVID for the first time, while my wife and children were out of town for a month visiting her family while on maternity leave, but I had to stay home for work. I binged the first season and immediately started watching campaign 1 of Critical Role. I’d played D&D a little before, but this show and CR reignited a passion for TTRPGs and led to me finding a D&D group for the first time in years. It has helped my mental health so much by expanding my social interactions outside of my family, as well as fueling me creatively. I would very much agree that Vox Machina changed my life.

I'd been subbed to G&S and was aware of CR, but the 4+hour runtime was daunting. Then one day in 2016 I saw a beautiful animatic of a scene in ep 64 and said "ok fine I will watch it". While nothing is perfect, the critter community and CR has been such a source of comfort for me. I am stronger for having known you

World of Darkness for a grim version of modern setting (games like Vampire the Masquerade, Wherewolf the Apocalypse), Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game - awesome feedback overall, and in much loved setting, Delta Green for the modern eldritch setting, Fabula Ultima for JRPG inspired settings, Cyberpunk Red for dystopian sci-fi, Blades in the Dark for some prime heists. These are just a few, there's so much more! I wish I had a "I know kung-fu" learnimg moment for all of them 😆

I had seen tumblr stuff unknowingly of CR for years, the pandemic was the camels back for my mental health and thats when i found their actual campaigns and started with the 2nd. The same discoveries of the cast made me giddy. I found a family that saved me and when i caught up to the livestreams it felt like my family grew with the chat and its critters. Glad to see others join and find the love.

Citing how it would be cruel and unusual punishment "just like prolonged solitary confinement" seems like a bad tactic, considering the prison system thinks cruel and unusual punishment like prolonged solitary confinement is fine.

@@jacobryanjosephmorrison Yes, they are arguably both main characters of the entire World of Warcraft series. It is also how Liam and Laura met prior to Critical Role. Laura introduced Travis to Liam. Liam met Matt because Illidan was added to Heroes of the Storm where Matt was already playing another character.
