Me too, especially with Y, X was always more fun to play as but at some point i got bored and started playing the 3 kanto starters, most fun I've had with this game in a while
They should of combined them like water bear and dark bear since one set works with Y and one works with X if they were going to give the same move sets. I would have given them separate move sets all together.
I don't understand why playing Blaze Kick cinderace felt so fun but for mew2, every single step I take is a chore and a half. Like you said, it's so boring.
Things like Inteleon, Cinderace, Ceruledge, Dodrio, everything else have some fun gameplay or gimmick going for them, Mewtwo’s gameplay is boring, and its gimmick is only present in 5% of the match lmfao
@_shadiness X is slow too. Only having one damage move really makes central a slog. Having a forced defensive move means he has to be fighting enemy pokemon to make use of it. His passive is also useless without any enemies to hit, keeping his attack low.
I don't mind them being 2 licenses since 1 is physical and 1 is special puting them in 1 license would be a bit annoying but they definitely need to rework them to be more interesting.
I think that the idea of equiping mega stones in general is a pretty awesome idea. Even for like charizard, lucario, gardevoir, venusaur, etc. By equipping the mega stone, it woul change their moveset somewhat. Iwould even still eb happy if the mega stone costed like 10,000 aeos coins, because hey, it would be like a new pokemon. But, alas, to much work for timi and not enough profits.
No, I'm sure Mega Evolution Licenses would easily sell, but it would be too much to balance, like trying to keep both OG Zard, Zard X, and Zard Y be around the same level of strength... Just not feasible
I agree with stronger basics out of Mega and slightly nerfing basics while Mega. I don't play it much because it doesn't have a great secure and again the out of Mega basics are underwhelming. But like you said, I do think the Unite, Psystrike and Mega are still really cool. I wouldn't mind if Psystrike became a skill shot that you project to a designated area. It would actually be more broken that way and easier to knock up multiple enemies with.
We have 2 licenses for M2 is because of how Mega Stones work and because X is Physical and Y is Special. This would be very hard to do especially if you picked the wrong move(example: picking the physical move while having special attack items). It works with Scizor and Scyther because they’re both physical and it atleast makes more sense. Ceruledge and Armarouge are different licenses for the same reason, one is physical, the other is special, it’s for the sake of the game and playerbase. It’s also easier to incorporate Pokémon personality with both being in separate licenses, you can see the differences in personality from Scizor/Scyther, M2X/M2Y, Arma/Ceru. Our Scizor plays somewhat more mature-like than our hyperactive Scyther. Our Ceruledge is acts “merciless” than our “dutiful” acting Armarouge. M2X feels like an unstoppable villain you can’t stop, M2Y feels like an unstoppable villain you simply can’t reach, I defend this decision of making each separate licenses. However, the Mewtwos do play so very tediously unfortunately, that’s the truth.
I agree with Cris here , it shouldn’t be 2 separate licenses, it should be like Urshifu. When you come to lvl 5 you should be able to choose between X and Y mutations, in ONE LICENSE
Imagine Mewtwo getting to choose between 3 or 4 different moves instead of the usual 2. Give it a split license like Scyther/Scizor. Give it options! Complexity! You could even give it an easier but less rewarding moveset to still be friendly to beginning players, but still give it more complex interactions with its moves. Mewtwo is THE pokémon. What if Mewtwo had the most diverse playstyle because you can create so many different combinations of moves? Instead of just a damage boost, make its moves behave differently when it megas! I was around during the Mewtwo meta and it still leaves a super bitter taste in my mouth, but that doesn't stop me from wanting redemption for it. There is so much wasted potential. As it stands, I'm happy to see both Mewtwos rotting at the bottom of the pickrates.
You're being really vague in what you actually want to see in your first paragraph. Honestly, I would've been fine if they had the same moveset so long as they were atleast different in their mega evolutions.
They could've gone a lot of directions with Mewtwo, but I really wanted to see a pokémon that sort of does everything, depending on how you want to play it. Y'know how Mew gets to choose between 6 total moves (3 per slot)? Do that with Mewtwo too. That's primarily what I mean. Then, with all of those move options, there's a ton of different tools they could give Mewtwo. High damage, shields, mobility, CC, group damage, long range poke, close range brawler, assassin, with tons of nuance depending on what combination of moves you chose. I don't have a ton of super specific ideas, just the concept, so I guess that's why it ended up sounding vague. Hopefully that helps a bit
@@KaiTheMemeKing Mewtwo doesn't have the DNA of all Pokemon, unlike Mew, so it can't learn every move, nor can it learn transform. This is why Mew has many movesets, because that's their gimmick. Mewtwo was simply supposed to just be "stronk."
I remember picking Mewtwo Y with a friend back when it was broken just so we could stand a chance against the oppressive meta, and I had to drop it after a couple matches just because of how boring it was to play. I just couldn´t bring myself to do homework of playing M2Y.
Mewtwo should probably have the option to activate his mega at will. Just make it a 3rd input like hoopas berries. Then make future sight a skill shot but allow it to pick the direct he moves you. Psystrike could lose its auto lock too, make it a larger hit box that just shoots damage in a cylinder with a burst at the end. Recover and teleport could stay the same tbh. Mobility or durability.
Mew2 should have received a kit like mew’s, something that is complex and makes the Mon actually feel like a legendary, but instead of that, we got the most straightforward no skill shots a presser attacker, even tho mew2 takes skill bc of mega gauge, it’s micro gameplay doesn’t take much skill, truly a tragedy for my goated legendary cat.
I actually like m2x but I hate the fact you need to run red emblems and attack speed held items on m2y cause it’s just so naturally slow as a basic attacker
Feel like at least a little part of the reason razor leaf owl being fun is that the sound effect is so satisfying. But everything about mewtwo is cool ideas being terribly executed
idk but I feel like at one point they gonna buff him and make him stronger again like when no one played surging strikes urshifu but now he one of the top 5 Pokémon I think
Although I hate the Mewtwos’ design, I don’t care much about them, and I’m happy they’re almost never played. What really upset me about was how OP they were released as, and how long it took to nerf them. In that regard, Zacian was the absolute worst. The entire design concept of EX mons was so flawed and destructive to the enjoyability of the game, and it took them nearly 18 months to fix that. The data was in front of them the whole time, and they chose to ignore it.
since the devs already did a rework on a Pokémon, why not try reworking some of the Pokémon that exist in the game, the ones that deserve a rework and make their gameplay more fun like Mewtwo's
I mean i cant say how hyped i was on the m2 release and when it got released i obviously didn't mind the bad design when i was using it but it suddenly became a who has better m2 battle I remember how i hated using m2s because it was so boring to use like 2 auto attacks mega evolve the enemy is already dead, unite for objective, farm it felt so disgusting but it felt like i was forced to use it because I feared of the bad m2s that might be the reason i loose And well i had only 200games total of m2 even now i think I just used zacian the whole season cuz it was broken too and better design ofc
I feel like mewtwo should be like Augran from HoK, floating and roaming around the map with cool moves and execute damage and being such a menace which could fit to a lorewise op mon like mew2
I think what would've been really cool is if mewtwo was like kayn from LoL (gets a different form depending on if he attacks melee or ranged enemies) with a more tuned down mega form but for the entire match so it's on the same power level as other pokemon while not feeling horrendous in the base form, even the moves could have special effects based on the mega like kayn like idk future sight increases your atk speed if your x or psystrike does more damage based on max hp (obviously with some nerfs)
Only context I enjoy playing mewtwo is tank mewtwo x. But otherwise the only resemblance of fun I have is watching the psystrike projectile fly across the map to hit stuff. Mewtwo y especially feels like they went out of their way to make the most boring character possible.
I enjoyed playing the Mewtwos in the first 6-8 months they came into existence, then the way they handled the rebalancing kinda killed them in a very boring way. The Pokémon was always basic af but before at the very least you'd have a character that would turn into this super strong monster if you played your pieces right. The first 3 or so patches to Mewtwo X (Y took a bit more) were completely fine, but honestly I think the biggest problems for the Mewtwo was the EX concept introduction. When they decided to make all EX Pokémon consume Aeos, they essentially gutted Mewtwo's scaling. Now, winning a teamfight without getting kills yourself is a huge experience loss simply because the Mega Evolution won't let you score anything. And by introducing this new issue to Mewtwo, on top of its already slow farming with no securing ability whatsoever, it's really easy to fall behind in experience and see your contribution be practically nothing in lategame as you're stuck in level 11/12 even if you played fairly well. The Pokémon just can't make big impact plays if it's always playing from behind, and that's what also contributes to it being really unfun to use.
They certainly dropped the ball on M2 but picked it back up once Miraidon came out. Seriously, it’s amazing how much fun Miraidon is compared to M2. Drifting around with the lightning dragon but then auto attacking with the genetic failure, that’s so sad man.
I so badly hope they majorly rework both mewtwos. If they want to keep the moves relatively the same future sight could be made a skillshot and psystrike a charged attack similar to armor cannon, not sure exactly what to do with recover, and teleport is fine I think If I was to change their moves: For x I would keep teleport, replace both move 1s with drain punch for tankiness and psycho cut for damage/defense shred, and recover with magic room to disable enemies' held items. For y I would slow its attack speed to encourahe a mkre mage playstyle rather than adc, again keep teleport, make the above change to psystrike, replace future sight with tri attack as either a 3 charge poke or a constant debuffing beam similar to ho oh flamethrower, and recover with phychic terrain to buff allies' special attack (and maybe give cooldown reduction if we wanna go super crazy) Pretty sure the reason they're two licenses is so they could separately be physical melee and ranged special, plus having different stats, without needing you to swap items based on which you want to play, and also so their moves could work a bit differently. Could've also just been for the money lol since the licenses aren't bundled like all their holowear is
I don't know if this would be interesting, but I think mewtwo x&y could be cool if they reworked it in a way to implement both x and y. Obviously balance mewtwo x&y but it could be a cool thing to have like the ability to change which mega you want so you can go for ranged and melee for the situation you are in. Again, this would have to be balanced in a way to be fair, but it would be so cool to have one mewtwo use either x and y when they want and swap between them when. They can make it harder to play so it is a high risk high reward type of pokemon. Just a thought.
When he mega evolves it uses up the pokeballs as well. That seems like a big nerf cuz when you hit level 5 and mega evolve you end up losing a % of your pokeballs in the process which could have been scored after winning the clash.
If they buff the base form basic attacks for both and provide a third hit boosted that has its own effects they would be better to play. As it stands now they can't farm and their cooldowns are crazy so they fall behind too easily
Mega Mewtwo should actually be the strongest in his role (strongest attacker and strongest all-rounder), it's just that they should make it be able to megaevolve with a mega-ring battle item, which should have a cooldown similar to a Unite move. What we have right now is a useless Pokemon that needs to hit enemies like 10 seconds straight to start dealing damage.
Mewtwo is the only character design I genuinely believe was just wrong. Every other Pokemon has such really thought out designs and animations it just makes me really wonder why mewtwo ended up the way it did. Especially in the light of armarouge and ceruledge, I just don’t understand the design behind mewtwo. Tbh, if only mewtwo Y released the way it did, I would be okay. It would be sad, but it would make sense. Mewtwo X is the real tragedy. Essentially M2Y but with shorter range, it just sucks. For something that was essentially legendarily OP in singles due to its offensive power, I would’ve expected a brawl focused cooldown fighter. It’s a shame, really.
I quit playing Unite shortly after the Mewtwo release. Was one of the Pokemon I wanted the most and he was boring to play as and saddled with a Mega evolution gimmick. Personally didn’t care for Mega evolutions in the main games and seeing Mewtwo stuck with it as a gimmick bummed me out
Shouldn't have implemented Mega Mewtwo. Mewtwo itself is iconic. If they want to create a cool concept where the Pokémon can go either Phy Att or Spe Att, they could do it with Calyrex.
Mewtwo was my favorite pokemon ever, the way they made such a disappointing kit for him makes me mad, and the worst part is that the entire design was to make new players play an easy mon, but it's so basic that it struggles to do anything at all to the point that sometimes it's way harder to play him, on top of that since you get 0 skillshots you are countered by people walking to tall grass or getting barely out of range so you accidentally press your ability on someone else, and i hate so much how mewtwo x basic attacks make him move, like there's no way of retreating, it's going full dumb and pressing A hoping you kill something before you die, it's really bad how he doesn't work in any way, it's not a easy mon, it's not a strong one, his whole point really was to be op and the fun part was making everyone else don't enjoy the game, that's it, he needs a rework so bad, i hope someday they fix what it's got to be the worst designed character in a MOBA ever.
The more I think about it, I don’t think it was Mewtwo itself that brought the players in. You just mention the word Mega and the casual audience explodes about it. While the announcement of Pokemon Z-A was well received it wouldn’t have had so much hype behind it if they didn’t dangle the mega symbol at the end.
Mewtwo X is the better designed one. The mega works much better being melee, but he just is too slow imo. Teleport on Mewtwo X is completely useless and recover should only charge mewtwo X's gage not Y. I struggle getting my mewtwo X to mega evolve if i have no teammates, which is usual because X is basically a defender. Psystrike is only good if you're going for defending, because if you try to go in without future sight, you'll probably die before psystrike can finish its animation
What I think it's ridiculous is that if someone from the other team choose a mewtwo you can't choose mewtwo in your team also. It's locked to only one player for the entire match... Mewtwo Y is one of the weakest mages rn
There was no excuse for how long mewtwo and zacian broke the game. Closest I can to quitting for good. Still can’t understand how the devs let that happen and quite honestly have continued to struggle with transparency and caring about the player demonstrating that again with the inflation of gems as an awful premium monthly service
Things like this makes me believe the game is truly dead soon. Its such a absurd feat to make a pokémon this popular this unbalanced on release that EVERYONE just dislikes it and when its nerfed to the ground NO ONE CARES to play it.
I used to play Unite 2-4 hours a day. Then when Mewtwo, Zacian and inteleon were outrageously broken I quit playing, and never fully went back to playing the game.
I used to play the same but then hoopa came out. People think the mewtwos were the most busted mons, no, not at all. Hoopa singlehandedly forced the entire format of unite to change because it's rotations on 1-1-3 comps was too strong and it's still currently the strongest support when used with a competitive team with good communication.
I never liked Mewtwo as a pokémon, and when it entered pokémon Unite, it may have made my opinion on it worse. They should make most pokémon skill reliant, such as Aegislash, you shouldn't be able to outplay opponents by stupidly holding only one button.
Before release I always had this idea of gen 1 moveset that was totally cool and iconic but only god knows wtf is going on in the head of this new gen game creators
I have said this since release, and you said it yourself, they made Mewtwo one of the most boring Pokémon in this game. Unite Move in my opinion should have been the Mega Evolution, but Mewtwo has so much more to offer.
Worst thing is, mewtwo y is REALLY good rn, great unite, psy strike is a high damage get out of jail free card with no actual skill, good mobility with teleport, amazing damage, and good range. If it was used more it would probably be higher on tier lists but its so basic and boring no one wants to play it.
The thing is, I actually like how mewtwo Y can go all machine gun, dragon ball z type shit (even if you reduce the damage it does) but now its just so clunky and not worth it. For mewtwo Y the mega gauge feels so hard to fill up, so slow, and it gets countered by so many mons like Mimikyu and Ceruledge. Mewtwo X is better but there is so much stun, so much cheese and UMBREON. These two just fell off so hard cuz they made the mega forms so hard to get, they get countered hard, the points it consumes doesn’t feel worth it, and without its mega its worthless.
I think Mewtwo Y is very mid/bad rn ngl which also may support its very low pickrate. It's impossible to get Mega gauge on mewtwo Y anymore. Mewtwo X I think is still good though and can live forever, but its output is pretty low especially compared to other all arounders imo. Zacian and Miraidon I do legit think are still top 5-8 mons right now though for the EXEs The only way to mega evo M2Y is to be very ahead winning lane and snowballing from teamfights with like full CC/Support/Frontline comps. It'll still generally be behind though due to its poor farming imo and doesn't scale super well in comparison to Gren/Cinder/etc
i stopped playing m2x just cuz it was actually impossible to mega evolve without dying , way too much cc 🤕 to nobody’s surprise .. and for m2y i mostly play him in casual cuz he doesn’t feel that good ever since they took away his crits
Do you know if you use teleport while channeling psystrike you can then basic attack during the psystrike channel. It only happens if you use it correctly .
I dont think its a boring/excitement thing. People play dpulse dura. People play a ton of blaze kick feint cinder and thats also a 0 skill shot moveset. People play glaceon a ton and that also has 0 skill shots. People play pult. People play wish mean look umbreon. The mon just feels extremely weak, you cant farm, you have to play it in lane, your only way into the game is to get kills. And if you fall behind you are worthless. You cant rip objectives like all the other basic attackers. Cause i do think Y is more satisfying to play then the other auto attackers. The auto attack animation is fluid and makes it so you can move more while auto attacking, you have psystrike for CC, you have teleport to dodge dives and weave in and out. Its really satisfying if your ahead but any other time where you arent ahead its extremely miserable to play.
Idk how unpopular this opinion is but I felt mew2 should have been one license. Do the same thing with scyther/scizor where u could pick the Megas just have it a different up instead of pressing a move to turn into one just a button that says x or y. I never liked it that they were separate licenses, just told me timi wanted to only make money. Worse that both are essentially the same just one is better because of range and cc. Such a waste of one of the most loved pokemon
